Darcy Burke is the USA Today Bestselling Author of sexy, emotional historical and contemporary romance. Darcy wrote her first book at age 11, a happily ever after about a swan addicted to magic and the female swan who loved him, with exceedingly poor illustrations. Join her Reader Club at http://www.darcyburke.com/readerclub.
A native Oregonian, Darcy lives on the edge of wine country with her guitar-strumming husband, their two hilarious kids who seem to have inherited the writing gene, two Bengal cats and a third cat named after a fruit. In her “spare” time Darcy is a serial volunteer enrolled in a 12-step program where one learns to say “no,” but she keeps having to start over. Her happy places are Disneyland and Labor Day weekend at the Gorge.
As an anthology all the books melded well, they all had a wonderful unlikely hero, and made for a great couple of weeks reading for me.
The book is an absolute bargain. So many wonderful stories together. Even knowing that all the books have been previously released I am sure most people like myself would only have previously read one or maybe two of them. Anthologies are great ways to be introduced to new authors. It's an absolute bonus if all of the stories are to your liking, and in my case with this anthology, they definitely were. I have written a full review on each individual story on it's own Goodreads page, so if you want to know more about each book, feel free to read my reviews there. The entire review will also be published soon on Buried Under Romance book blog, so can be found there too.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The first two were lack luster, I really didn't enjoy them much but Christie Caldwell, Ruth Ann Norton and Erica Ridley were the best ones out of the bunch.
1 Scoundrel Ever After by Darcy Burk This is actually last book in her Secrets and Scandals series. Ethan Lockwood, alias, Jagged, trying to turn bad turn into a better life. That bad turn kept him alive. Now it is up to his beautiful waltz coach to help him find his way and keep her safe. 2 Forever Betrothed Never a Bride by Christi Caldwell Excellent depiction of the flawed hero who has to fight for any happiness or even just normal life. Author effectively demonstrates the effect of war (no matter which war). Emmeline was a strong woman who actually benefited by being sidelined by the Ton. Will definitely read more by the author. 3. Desire of a Baron by Rose Gordon Excellent portrait of the scarred hero. All the medical issues of today with new knowledge and experience had some simple label in the Recency. Seeing someone struggle to be accepted to be accepted and not locked away somewhere was so well done in this book. Will definitely look for more. 4. Athena's Ordeal by Sue London Quince and Sabrina he is the loner who appears to have been struck by love at first sight and doesn't know it. Sabre is the super independent women how wants to defend her own honor and does, with a sword. They are supported by their friends and family and nearly torn apart by a past they have no control over. Went immediately to get another book in the series but book definitely stands alone. 5. Did not finish Earl's scandalous wife 6. Corinna by Lauren and Devon Royal third book of Recency Chase Brides. Just delightful, sorry I did not read the first two. The Irish hero was unusually fortunate to be left a fortune and hard working enough to put it to work but the story did show at least some of the contempt the Irish were held in. Corinna seems a bit young for so much artistic talent but she was definitely a charmer.
This book is comprised of 7 books in one. All full length stories and all very good. There was only one that moved a little slower than I liked but the story was still good. Well worth buying. I had read two of the books previously but still considered it a bargain.
I enjoyed ALL of the books in this bundle tremendously! Some of the authors were new to me, but I always enjoy the works of Rose Gordon and Lauren (& Devin!) Royal.
