I wrote this book about 3-4 years ago actually and I hadn't seen the film. It was inspired by a super awkward thought. I went on holiday to Mauritius with my ex many years ago, and then again with my now husband and son. When I stepped off the plane I had this vision of bumping into my ex and thinking how awful it would be. It was a kind of funny (slightly horrid) thought. I had that in the back of my mind for years, and then wrote the book. I was told by a lot by people that it was like the film, which I eventually watched. I put a little nod to the film in the book, kind of acknowledging that when I edited it this last year. The screenwriter thing came from my world, as I've worked in TV and film for years here as a scriptwriter and storyliner, so I always wanted to write about someone like that. Anyway, I really enjoyed the film a lot when I got round to seeing it. But yes, the concept of bumping into your ex with their new bff on an island, is basically the same. Although the book is very, very different in most ways. I hope you enjoy it if you read it! (less)

In just one day, Annie Anderson's life turned sideways and then completely upside down when she comes home early, finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman. If that wasn't sad enough, she ends up losing her new job on the first day. And yet it gets worse. When she goes away for a much needed excursion to a fabulous island with her friends, who shows up there but the cheating ex and his gorgeous arm candy.

As bad as Annie's day from hell was, it was related in such a way that I couldn't sto

A laugh-out-loud at times silly and over the top Rom Com, about finding love in the most idyllic of locations, under the most ridiculous of circumstances. It wasn’t all light and fluffy though, there were some very deep and tender moments that the author touched on with subtlety and respect.

Annie Anne and Chris/Boyden were so good together, even though both were “playing” along with the fake relationship, there were real feelings and chemistry from that initial meeting. However, we all know that

Loved this book.
It was quite strange reading it having just returned from our wedding in a gazebo on the beach in St Lucia. The description of their trip (ok, heading in the opposite direction), their resort was so similar to ours. The cocktails, the beach, the same flowers, right down to the red velvet wedding cake! Kinda wish I'd read it before we went, or while we were there, but it's been lovely to reminisce.
Probably will read it again, and that doesn't happen very often in my world.

This is a new author to me and i am really glad that i gave her a chance. Although this book is part of a series you do not need to read the first one to enjoy this one.

This is a rom com that will certainly have you laughing out loud. I really enjoyed this book and was so happy that Annie was able to have her happy ever after after the shit storm that had been her life for the

This was the first book I've read by Jo Watson, and I was surprised as to how much I enjoyed it. Set in South Africa (in the beginning), it was heartbreaking to watch Annie struggle to begin with, but some of the situations she managed to get herself into were amusing! I also enjoy stories that have a fake relationship in them, so it was no surprise that I would like this one!

Annie's life turned upside down from the opening chapters. She walked in

Annie knows life isn't always fair. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes you get mistaken for a crazed intruder when you come home early and find your boyfriend wearing nipple clamps with a coworker on the night you thought he was going to propose to you.

The important thing is to move on, and for Annie that means treating herself to a tropical vacation. But when she runs into her ex and his new woman staying at the same resort, reason is washed out to sea. Caught off guard, Annie pre
3.5 stars- Cute Romantic Comedy

Almost a Bride played out much like a romantic comedy movie, an ode to the hero’s occupation as a screenwriter. It was a cute standalone story with an upbeat vibe. The writing was detailed with a steady pace and flowing dialogue. The setting in the second book of the Destination Love series made this a bit more unique. The main character- Annie- is originally from South Africa. Therefore, a good portion of the book takes place in that location. After a troubling br

Hilarious from start to finish, In a book that feels like it could be on the big screen as a great rom-com in its own right. Well it does feature a sexy man who is like the hero of your average rom-coms and the whole book just had the feel to it. I would love to see this made into a film.

The prologue really sets the scene for the pacing and humour of this story, and had me grinning from ear to ear, as I had my first feel for Annie’s character.

Of course what was attracting me to the book beside

I received this as a Goodreads giveaway.

Was only at 41% yesterday but I HAD to know what was going to happen.

The book begins with Anne having the worst day ever - from waking up late, forgetting the shoes for a photo shoot, only to come home during her lunch break to get them and find her boyfriend having sex with his assistant, and then getting arrested because of a mix up when the police arrived (Anne thought that she and Trevv were being robbed so she called the police and grabbed the closest

This was such a wonderful, heartbreaking story! It was full of heartbreak, romance, fun and so much more. It kept me gripped from the beginning and I loved every second of it. I didn't put it down once as I just needed to know what was going to happen.

I also now want to go on a beach holiday.

In this book we follow Annie. She is having the worst time. She walked in on her boyfriend, now ex-boyfriend, sleeping with his colleague and not only that, she got arrested.

Her and her friends decide to go

I wish I could give this book 10 stars! It was so amazing! I don't remember the last time I laughed so much while reading a book! Annie and Chris have an amazing story and their interactions are hilarious! The story line kept me hooked the entire time. I kept reading and as I got closer to the end, I wanted to find out what happened, but I didn't want to be finished reading their story. I am going to read the other books in the series and look into other works by the author. I loved her writing ...more

Quite possibly the best page turner I’ve read. So much of a page turner that I started reading at 11pm in the intentions I would fall asleep shortly after but before I knew it, it was 4:30am. I could NOT stop reading whatsoever. Fantastic book that had me laughing at so many different things. Well done Jo Watson.

To true

It was funny as anything.
It was so real that I thought I was watching my friend in a downward spiral. Annie is a strong women broken by cheating, any women would be unless they never really loved them. But that's all I will tell. This books is amazing romance and Jo Watson has quickly become my favourite romance author!

Jo Watson’s AMOST A BRIDE is a sweet, funny, sexy romp, a book that’s perfect for curling up with beside the fireplace on a Sunday afternoon.

Annie arrives home early from work, she hears something unusual in her house. Grabbing a knife, she calls 911 and seeks out the sounds, only to find her boyfriend in bed with another woman—nipple clamps included. She’s angry and hurt; they see the knife and assume the worst. The police arrive, and Annie’s arrested. While the charges are dropped, Annie soon

You know how you think that the guy you've been living with for a few years might propose? And one day you stumble across a jewelry store receipt? And then he books a reservation at a swanky romantic restaurant? So of course you just assume that this is the night?

Annie was having a day like that. She just knew that Trey is going to propose, so she goes and gets her nails done in preparation for the instagram photos to follow. She's also on her first day of a job she dearly wanted - an a

This book is a hoot. From the very beginning where you feel for Annie but still laugh due to all that happens to the antics her and Chris concoct to one up her ex and even the climax with the turtles you will just smile the whole time. We do have sad moments and towards the end you hope that Annie gets it together and sees her way back to Chris.

Chris is a writer. He doesn’t believe in love or so he says. It is really guilt and watching all that happened around him when he was a kid that made him

I absolutely adored Annie. She's fun, quirky, and gets caught in the most awkward situations. I couldn't even imagine my reaction to some of the things that happen. I don't want to say what they are because it'll take away from the shock of it.

ARC Review: Almost a Bride (Destination Love) By Jo Watson

It's a thin line between love, hate and a jail cell. Or maybe she's losing her mind. Almost a Bride is a breath of fresh air. Author Jo Watson not only delivers hilarious moments of comic relief but shines with her message of positivity in situations that could break anyone's spirit. Annie may not be as optimistic as she pretends to be but she lights up each page with her antics and helps the story shine. I've just added Jo Watson to my o
