And, if Alan can't learn to love the beast inside himself, maybe he can love the animal in her . . .

The human H has been an outsider in his family/pack, worse is that he loves a shifter. An evil man changed him and he needs the h to help him gain control of his out of control beast. She bonds with him and saves him, then finds she's a real monster. Loved this couple and the h was amazing.

Alan is the moody angry bear, literally. I liked Alan. He gives so much to the pack and when he needed them, he is let down so badly. I can understand Alan because he is left out of both worlds. He is a bear shifter but he can't shift so he isn't really one of them. Yet he can not be with humans fully because he is part shifter. Straddling this line where neither worlds will accept him is hard and disheartening. His character is the easiest for readers who have been excluded from a "club" to empathize with. They way he is under appreciated is maddening and it is amazing he even wants to have anything to do with his so called family. When a terrible violation is perpetrated against him and he can finally shift and become part of the "club" through essentially a blood sacrifice, he is now welcome with open arms.

It is interesting to see how become a shifter allows him to be fully accepted in his society. This social commentary is an interesting one to ponder. Does it mean when one conforms to be like everyone, they are finally accepted? Because now, the woman Alan's been interested in but wouldn't give him the time of day is finally showing interest. Tonya Kappes who refuted his love interest is suddenly able to give into the "love" because she can now have his babies! Yes, sarcasm is a language I employ frequently. Since Alan is no longer the quiet and dutiful good boy, Tonya wants him. His bitter bad boy needing to be saved persona attracts Tonya to him like bees to pollen. Once again, this shows that females want to save a bad boy and be damned with the nice guy. Because nice guys finish last. As a side note, nice guys finishing last is only good when in reference to sex.

Relationship dynamics aside, this book's plot kept me interested. The reasons for the crazy mad scientist route to create hybrid shifters out of nightmares are revealed. It is a sad story and whilst it is understandable as to why this happened, it does not sway me to feel sorry for the villains. It just goes to show that revenge plots rarely bring about any type of happy resolution. Fortunately for Alan, following the revenge roadmap at excess speeds, Tonya brings him to a halt before he crashes and burns. This is really the only good thing Tonya is for... well and to be a breeding bear for a new generation of shifters.

Ms. Lyons's series amused me and I enjoyed her writing style. The story flows easily and the characters are not perfect. The flaws in them make them more real even if I may not like them. This story does a nice balance with the different emotions invoked by the conflicts and resolutions. Alan's perspective adds another dimension in this world Ms. Lyons' created. Hope there will be more stories in this shifter world. This paranormal romance is recommended to readers who like bad boy alpha males saved by the love a tough take no prisoner female.

I'm so glad that bitchy Tonya finally got her story. I really love her character. One might she acts like she wants to kill you the next she's your best friend. I so want to meet her.

I really felt for Alan from the first book I met him. It's must be hard to live in the world he lives in and not be able to shift into his bear. But, because of that I think he has more heart and little bit more tougher. He need to show no fear around those who could easily kill him.

You know that Tonya doesn't want to be attracted to or mated to a bear could can't change. It doesn't fall into her life plans. Here's why you never plan your life. Sometimes you have to let it happen as it happens.

I feel this story over the other two is more emotional. Their story is a much tougher one to tell and read about. But I did really enjoy it.

Lyon's is now one of my favorite paranormal authors. She blends humor with suspense so well. One second I chuckle, then next something bad is happening. I just love it! If you haven't yet read this series add it to your Christmas list.

I really hope we get many more stories in this series.

You definitely have to read the first two books in the series to know what's going on in this one. There was a lot of repetition that got slightly annoying. Not the best read but not the worst either.

I’m a huge fan of Kathy Lyons’ Grizzlies Gone Wild series. I devoured books one and two. It should be noted that in my opinion, For the Bear’s Eyes Only is not a standalone read. Book two, License to Shift must be read first.

For the Bear’s Eyes Only picks up about a week after License to Shift ends. The story finds Alan Carman still reeling from the atrocities inflicted on him and going unnoticed by those who were supposed to love and care for him. Alan is full of hatred and rage and set on revenge.

Tonya Kappes feels horrible for the things that have happened to Alan. She feels she has failed him as a cop and as a friend. She wants to be there for him as a friend and needs to be there for him as more. Part of her problem is that she has known Alan has been in love with her since they were kids. She has never shown him any interest, choosing to throw herself at his older brother for the power he possessed. As Beta of the Gladwin Grizzly Clan, she answers to the Alpha, Alan’s brother, and the community. But in order to save the man she loves, she’s willing to disobey all orders.

Alan and Tonya have a back and forth tug of war going on. After everything, he doesn’t trust her. But she’s the one person who understands him and she will fight tooth and nail to save him from himself and the world.

I loved being able to go back and get glimpses of these two throughout the years. My heart broke for Alan whose life was forever changed and who had to endure the consistent thoughts and feelings of not being good enough or accepted. I loved Tonya for loving Alan and fighting for him to love her back.

The culmination of the suspense part of this series takes place in this story. The action is easy to follow and deserves your full attention. The end result is shocking, but at the same time compelling, showing what kind of man Alan is. I loved watching him claim his independence and stand up for himself. He lost his squeaky clean Brooks Brothers persona and gained a hard edge. Yes, he probably is still wearing Brooks Brothers, he’s refined like that. But he ultimately gained a true respect for himself.

I have to be honest, it did take me awhile to actually fall in love with For the Bear’s Eyes Only. The story is dramatically different from The Bear Who Loved Me and License to Shift. I knew the story was going to be heart-wrenching. I just wasn’t expecting it to be dark. I applaud Kathy Lyons for writing three very different stories and knowing that Alan needed to go to the dark side and return, in order to have everything he ever wanted.

My fingers are crossed that this isn’t the end of the series. After all, Tonya does have a couple of brothers.

Being a nonshifter in the Gladwin Clan has always been a hard pill to swallow. He finally accepted his limited abilities and was beginning to make a name for himself. But after being kidnapped, tortured, and turned into a half shifting bear has left Alan completely at odds with his former self. He only sees a monster and a clan who did not even realize he was missing. Now he is out for blood and running away from everything he has known, the woman he's ever loved to meet his death.

Damn!! I will admit that I can easily fall in love with a series, especially a bear shifter one. However Grizzlies Gone Wild has gotten better with each new book. I liked the first one but the second I was super excited about. When I heard that Tonya was next I was a mix of hell yes and oh no!

I did not know how this was going to play out because all we had gotten from Tonya was a hardass police officer, which I loved. There is so much more about her that we did not get to see in the previous stories that was slowly presented in this book. Alan had his world completely changed in the middle of the first book and you knew that he was going to do something drastic. The sensible one finally letting loose and I so loved it. As he put it 'in love with a monster'.

Most of the book was helping him see that he is still Alan and that he is going through what adolescents go through with their first change except all at once. Some parts could have been taken out- like the seemingly endless inner dialog and I wish that deleted scene was kept. It would have given proof that Tonya was attracted to Alan long before his change. Also, his abrupt change about his animal was a bit too rushed at the end.

BUT it was amazing and so sweet to see Tonya get what she has wanted for so long and for Alan to finally feel secure in his place in the Gladwin Clan. I think this may be the end of the series and I am so so sad about it! I highly recommend this to any paranormal romance lovers- particularly (bear) shifter genre!

I was gifted a copy of this novel from the JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review.

For The Bear Eyes by Kathy Lyons
I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
AHH I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS BOOK!!! Alan and Tonya!! This book…….Just YES!!
Alan is the shifter who can’t shift. Tonya is the ambitious shifter who wants power. She has gone after and pursued the wrong brother but now is SEEING this brother for what he can be for her…..her EVERYTHING!
So in the last book Alan learned exactly how much no one really noticed he was missing. He realized how unimportant he is the clan. He is going to destroy the woman who turned him into a monster even if it kills him in the process.
Tonya feels terrible. She understands why Alan feels the way he does but is trying to make it right. When she is tracking him for her alpha she decides to seduce him to bring him back to the clan. Easy Peasy right???? Little does she know she would fall for her subject and need to keep him alive for her bears sanity as well as her own human heart.
The heart felt care and emotion in this book. It is easily my favorite of the series and if you read the other two and then get to Alans book you will understand why. He goes through a lot in the series but the last book we see our favorite, kind and caring brother war with his heart and emotions to go after what he wants. He always does for others but this book is all about Alan and what He desires and needs. Tonya is there to push him and then love him even when he is being stupid and people he is a stupid man a lot in the book…but it makes us love him even the more when he finally does get his head outta his butt.

Now this is one Paranormal book that you don’t want to miss. Alan Carman was on a high everything was going his way, until one day he was taken by force and injected with an agent that forced his latent grizzly-shifter abilities. The good matter happy to past the bar lawyer was gone. The attraction that he had for Tonya was gone, especially when he found out that no one knew he was gone. How is that for a kick in the head. When his pack needed some legal work, they would call on good old boy Alan, but they couldn’t bother to know that he was kidnapped.

Now that Alan was on a mission of revenge, his Alpha, sends Tonya the women he knew belonged to him since he was a little boy. Tonya had her own agenda she wanted to be the Alpha female until the Alpha found his true mate. So, Tonya settled for becoming the beta. Which even that title belonged to Alan, before Tonya stole even that from Alan.

As you can see, if I was Alan I would have left my own pack and either went and started my own pack or just went lone bear. I say if wolves could do it so can a bear.

The adventure was great and the chemistry was okay. I loved the adventure of finding the culprits than the romance. But you as a reader can judge for yourself.

lan is a lawyer, his brother is Alpha of the Gladwin bear shifters. Alan can't shift, he's just human. Until he is kidnapped and experimented on. Now he only partially shifts and is mad because his family and friends didn't realize he was missing. He wants the woman who did this to him but he has to locate her first.
Tonya is a police officer, bear shifter, and beta. She's second after the Alpha. She is looking for Alan to bring him back home. When she finds him, her bear picks him for a mate. They grew up together but she was always after Carl, Alan's brother. Now she has to convince him to come back with her and let the law take care of the crazy cat lady. ( She's the one to turn him into a shifter ).
This is my favorite out of the three. Alan acts a little childish but I still liked him. Tonya is strong and just wants to settle down with a family. Some steamy scenes. Shifters. Overprotective brother. And of course crazy cat lady.

ARC REVIEW

OH MY GOSH this book. What I like about shifter books is they can beat the crap out of each other get up and it's all good, especially in this book and between Tonya and Alan. Yes they fight Alan hits her but being a shifter she gives as good as she gets. (I only bring it up because it might be a trigger for some) This was a great book and a great end to this particular story arc and I hope it's not over as a series because this is a fantastic series. I love all the characters I definitely want more.

Alan has always loved Tonya, but Tonya after a bad breakup set her mind on becoming Maxima. When Carl the Max meets and mates his true mate Carl makes Tonya his Beta usurping his brother Alan as Beta. Alan has always felt like the odd man out being one of the few that has the shifter gene in his chromosome dormant. But when the Evil Cat Lady kidnaps him and activates the dormant gene he becomes what he views as a monster.

Tonya believes she's the only one who can bring Alan back safely after he takes off to seek his revenge against the woman who did this to him. Tonya's bear has laid a claim on Alan and she needs to convince him that what he is going through is normal he just has to learn to accept that this is what he is now and that he's not a monster. But Alan is stubborn.

Alan has been changed into a half shifter by the cat lady Elisabeth who had kidnapped him and injected him with a serum and he has been on the run ever since.
Tonya is determined to find Alan and bring him home but he believes he is a monster so when she gets help from her friend Mark to tranquilize Alan she takes him to a deserted cabin an chains him up trying to talk sense into him.
Alan has always been in love with Tonya and she with him but she was so afraid he would reject her she never told him, well now she has to tell him or lose him forever.
I just love how determined Tonya is to make Alan understand he is the one for her and her bear even though he thinks she is crazy to be in love with a monster.

Poor Alan. He's had a rough life. He can't shift. He is kidnapped and tortured, but his own brother didn't even notice that something was wrong. He has been in love with his childhood friend since he was 12 and she was going after his brother. On top of all of that after his week of torture, he can shift, but he doesn't shift into a bear. Now he is going after the woman who did this to him. This was an excellent ending to the series.

I fell in love with the Grizzlies Gone Wild series with the first book and each new one has just made me fell even more in love with it! I'll admit that when I first saw that For the Bear's Eyes Only was Tonya's story, I wasn't as enthused about reading it, but when we got to see a different side of her and Alan both in Mark's story - well, I got a whole lot excited for it. And For the Bear's Eyes Only was positively excellent and I completely loved it!

You already know I had a rough patch with Tonya and I gradually started warming up to her and by the time I was actually in her head, I really did like her. Tonya is no doubt strong and tough-as-nails, but she does have a soft side too. Tonya tells it like it is, she never gives up, she would do anything for someone she loves, and she's wholly devoted, dedicated, and committed to Alan. She is truly wonderful and I loved her!

I always liked Alan before, but I have to say that his whole wild, out-of-control, bad boy thing he had going on was so sexy! I loved that and how fierce and alpha-y he was just as much as Tonya did. It made my heart ache to see how he much he struggled though and while I loved the darker side of him, I loved his sweet, caring side much more. Alan is just as wonderful as Tonya and I loved him just as much!

For the Bear's Eyes Only will get your blood pumping, get your heart going, and suck you in. It's full of passion and beauty and heartache. It will make you gasp, make you ache, make you laugh, and make you melt. It was so fantastic and I'm sad to see the Gladwin Clan go, but I hope we'll get to see them again (hint hint, Ms. Lyons)!

For the Bear's Eyes Only can be read as a standalone, although I would recommend reading them in order. It's told from Alan and Tonya's POV and their HEA ending left me with big grin on my face!

With every book written in the Grizzlies Gone Wild series they just get better! For the Bear's Eyes Only hit a lot of key emotional points. It was an anger filled read as Alan fought with himself and lashed out at those around him. It was passionate with Alan and Tonya! It was intense and I can't tell you why! This could possibly be my favorite of the series, sorry Carl! I have loved Alan's story even before he had this book and now that I have his I can't help but love him. And Tonya I have adored. She is a strong independent woman who really doesn't need a man but she wants one. She can take care of herself and has a brain. I just love her.

The writing is vividly descriptive. It paints the scene for the reader. The characters are full bodied and I feel like I know them. This book I don't feel can be read as a standalone. It needs at least License to Shift to be read before it to get the full understanding of Alan's pain. What he went through. What the Cougar woman is all about. I HIGHLY recommend this book to all paranormal romance lovers. This one is fantastic!

I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

3 stars — I was actually *really* looking forward to this book (despite the fact that I am 2 years late in my review). But…something just didn’t quite work for me in this one, so Mark’s book remains my favourite. (and please note that I don’t think you can read it without reading the first 2…you would survive, but you would be missing enough to be annoying)

Can I admit that I got bored in this book? I mean, maybe it was just me, but I found myself wanting to skim…I mean, I even wanted to skim the sex scenes. I wonder if part of that is that I was disappointed with Alan and Tonya. There was so much self-hate, which translated into hate of the “other”, and I just didn’t have enough patience for it. They eventually got to a better place, but it was almost too late for me, you know? Most of that self-hate is obviously on Alan. But as he’s sitting there calling all these animal things about himself “monster” and disgusting, etc, he’s inadvertently making commentary on the shifters he’s grown up with…and Tonya, whom he supposedly has a huge crush on. It didn’t jibe. I sort of got it, but it was a little too far or something. I expected to feel all the things for him and what he was going through, and in the end I mostly felt like he was a jerk who wasn’t even trying. I think that’s half my own impatience, and half the story itself, so it might not come across that way to every reader.

I was also, initially, really disappointed in Tonya’s sudden feelings for Alan now that he’s a shifter. Or at least, that’s the impression I got for the like the whole first half of the book. It reminded me of all those books where the couple doesn’t fall in love until one of them loses a whole bunch of weight, or starts working out, or whatever. Now, that changed, and we got to see background, and it does appear she had feelings for him before…but by that time I was already annoyed with Tonya thinking she only liked him now that he was “like her”. So I’m having a hard time reconciling my initial annoyance with how the story turned out…why couldn’t we have seen that from the beginning? I feel like it hurt the story.

And in the end because of those silly things, I wasn’t that invested in either character (they were okay, I just wasn’t in love), and I wasn’t that invested in their romance. I thought it would be nice, but I wasn’t clamouring for it. I did appreciate Alan’s growth and understanding, though I felt like I wouldn’t have minded seeing *his* thoughts in that final turnaround moment in the climax.

So yeah. It was good, but it was marred by my own high expectations…which is a bummer, but what can you do? Still an interesting world, but for some reason I’ve lost my verve for it.

For the Bear's Eyes Only is the third book in the Grizzlies Gone Wild series by Kathy Lyons. While it would be helpful to have read one or both of the previous books, I do not think it necessary to enjoy this read. Those that know the series will certainly get more out of it because of the larger story arc, but newcomers will not be left completely out in the cold. The first book was The Bear Who Loved Me, and the second book was License to Shift (which I somehow missed reading).

Life as Alan Carman knew it is over. After he was captured and tortured by a mysterious enemy, the lawyer's latent grizzly-shifter DNA was triggered. The old Alan is gone, and in his place is a terrifying vicious beast that lives and breathes for revenge. He will track down the person who did this to him-and it'll be the last thing he ever does. Tonya Kappes refuses to let Alan run headlong to his death. A bear-shifting deputy-and the Gladwin Clan's beta-Tonya faces Alan with one weapon: the love that's lingered between them since they were kids. But the idealistic man she knew has changed into something raw, primal, and unbelievably sexy. And, if Alan can't learn to love the beast inside himself, maybe he can love the animal in her.

For the Bear's Eyes Only is a good installment of the series, an I was eager to see how Alan and Tonya come together. Alan has been altered, and he is now a shifter, but not the bear he always wanted to be. He is a monster, and is willing to kill to prevent the woman that made him this way from hurting anyone else. Then comes Tonya, the woman he has always loved but could never have, trying to bring him home and convince him he is not the monster he fears. Together they search for the person behind the experiments and in the process find themselves. Alan needs to come to terms with his new life, and learn not to hate himself while Tonya needs to come to terms with her emotions and the pain Alan is going through. I love that despite the wild nature they now share, the pair actually talk things out and deal with their problems rather than jumping into bed and forgetting about them- though there is plenty of that too. They actually work on the emotional aspect of their issues, both shared and individual. This always earns respect from me for the author.

For the Bear's Eyes Only is a good read, but not one that wowed me. It is a must read for fans of the author or series, but those that are not invested in the story might not enjoy it as much as the rest of us.

With what has easily become of my favorite shifter series to date, I am thrilled to see the story of Alan and Tonya finally come to light. These two have been circling each other for some time, with their constant bickering and carrying on, it only stood to ramp up the sexual tension between them. However, we always thought that Tonya carried a torch for Carl, so most readers never thought that Alan was on her radar. Boy were we wrong.

I have to say that Alan's book is so much darker than the first two- mainly because this a man who is out for revenge. He is fueled by hate and anger, and vengeance is the only thing that is pushing him to keep going at this point. Not a trace of love is in his heart- not even for the one woman that he has wanted his whole life- Tonya. The only thing he wants now is to bring down the woman who made him into what he feels is a horrific monster. He doesn't care about anything or anyone else- not his family, and certainly not Tonya. Even though, she definitely cares for him.

To say that I was shocked to see that Tonya was head over heels for Alan this whole time was an understatement. Like I mentioned before- I thought she was courting some unrequited love for Carl, but it was only the position that he could offer her that she wanted- not the man. Nope- the only man for her was the one who currently wanted nothing to do with anyone around him. So, it was her duty to bring him back into civility and show him that he wasn't the monster that he thought himself to be.

Trust me when I say that this book is the most heartbreaking of the three, simply because you see the pain and anger that Alan has to work through. You have to relive his ordeal, through his eyes, and that part just really sucks, because it ain't pretty. To see a man be treated that way- well, it just flat out made me furious. Especially someone as kind and giving as Alan, who had devoted his entire life to the shifter community, and then be mistreated by one. Well, the woman deserved exactly what she got in the end- let's just say that.

When all was said and done, this may have been my favorite book- just because of the rollercoaster of emotions that I experienced with it. It had everything I could've wanted to see happen, so I didn't feel like it lacked anything. Not only the series, but this book, get a blinding 5 star review from me- because they are simply great reads!!

I received a copy of this book from ebook discovery. This is my honest, freely given review.

For those who haven't delved into Kathy's world I can only ask why not? While I love a story that is just a simple escape from real life this series as it touches on the slightly harder side of shifter, or non shifter as the case may be, life makes for compelling reading.
In all honesty the only downside ...if it could be regarded as one , is that to get the full impact of this book and understand the characters, you really should read the other two first.
This is Alans story of coming to terms with everything that has turned his world on it's head. Will Tonya be able to cope with the new Alan?

I like how love prevails beyond the monster inside and the need for revenge. The story of Alan and Tonya builds realistically through the story with a few hot scenes. This is a story of love, acceptance, healing and forgiveness. Along with a happily ever after ending, no cheating or cliffhangers, this makes for a great read.

Made Bear Shifter

Alan was a non-shifting bear, unlike his alpha brother. At least he was all human until evil entered his life in the guise of a cougar shifter trying to make non-shifters into shifters. Now, Alan isn't sure who or what he is and Deputy sheriff and bear shifter Tonya is out to prove he's both. An action-filled, sexy drama about learning to accept yourself as you are. Enjoy!

This will definitely be put on my to read again list.
The ending was unexpected, I wasn't sure how the evil character would be taken care of in the end that's were the twist came in. I love how Kathy wrote the ending.

2.5- this was my least favorite so far. A variety of reasons including repeating how much self loathing the main character has and how much of a bad ass the heroine was. Yes yes. We get it - you tell us in every page. Enough!

Also - what happened to the kids parents? I missed that nugget all together.

Meh, an okay ending to the trilogy, but not my favorite entry. A bit too quick of a change of heart on Tanya's part, and I felt like Alan took self-pity to the extreme - though what do I know, never having been turned into a half-shifter grizzly?!

Loved this book and the series. Gives me the paranormal I want plus the added suspense. And in the romance and it's a complete winner! I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

This is the first shifter series that I have ever read. I enjoyed every aspect of the series and the struggles they overcome throughout generations.

3.5 stars.

I liked the ending but I'm confused as to how they got to that point. It was ok but definitely my least liked if the 3 in the series.
