Divining with crystal pendulums is just a pastime for eighteen year old Ysolde until she learns she is the heir to an ancient legacy – a legacy which could be the deciding factor in a centuries old war between two races of energy entities, the Lumen and the Vapors. Teamed with a handsome Lumen as her guardian, Ysolde is thrown into an alien conflict on Earth and on other worlds. As she dodges energy shards and invisible enemies on the rim of one of the steepest canyons in North America, Ysolde’s duty to the Lumen is pitted against her loyalty to her family. In order to survive, she must find a way to banish the evil Vapors, but first she must accept the threats and obligations of her new title- Domina Lumen.

This book was ok. I liked the idea of a world inside of the earth. It was an interesting idea but it just didn't work. Aside from Von, the Lumen didn't really want to do anything to help. They expected her to save them but didn't really even train her. They just expected her to do it and then acted like she was incompetent. I prefer strong heroines with supporting characters and this book didn't have that.
