Michele nailed this story as far as I'm concerned. I loved her characters, plot, pacing, and originality. This was a book I had a hard time putting down and couldn't wait to pick up. I highly recommend.

I don't often give more than one or two stars on a book I don't finish. This is an exception because the writing is solid and the romance interesting and the characters charmingly portrayed; and yet, I just can't get into the story. All of that has to do with the background and I'll try to explain. Or, rather, I'll try to frame it in a way that doesn't make me sound like a complete monster. Cassie's husband has been in Persistent Vegetative State for six years. That's pretty much brain dead and ...more

Talk about heart-wrenching! I think I cried about five different times while reading this touching and emotional book. The author did an amazing job of balancing the difficult circumstances with Cassie's positive and hopeful attitude so it wasn't a depressing book, but rather a glimpse into the complex dynamics of grief and hope, holding on and letting go. Matt and Cassie's personalities were vividly brought to life with their mannerisms, thoughts, compassion, and struggles. They bring each othe ...more

I have absolutely loved this Matchmaker series and love how diverse each addition is. They can be read out of order, but it would help to read the prequel first, to get a feel for Pearl, the Matchmaker and her role in all of the books that follow.

This book is another wonderful story, but ay-ay-ay--I was a little uncomfortable with one aspect. Cassie's dreams are all set to come true when her policeman husband gets shot. The resulting injury is heartbreaking and I honestly don't know what I would

Between Heaven and Earth is a well developed story. I hadn't even read the book description when I read this one so I had no idea what to expect. This isn't a quick love at first sight story. This takes place over the course of an entire year and delves into some deep waters. Just what would one do in this situation? It made me think.

Pearl plays an active role in getting the characters together.

Content: Clean (there was one interaction I feel would better be left out due to the crude nature of

Another great novel in The Power of the Matchmaker series. This one had an undertone of sorrow and heartache due to the nature of the storyline. Yet there was lots of hope as well. I really enjoyed the scenes talking about forgiving...others but especially ourselves.

I'll get my full review up soon but wanted to share those thoughts as I was thinking about them.
I'm finally putting my thoughts about this novel out there for everyone to r

Who thought up the idea of this Power of the Matchmaker series?! Seriously? Brilliant idea. I love this series. Each month is a new book by a different author. All with one minor character included- the matchmaker. You can read these books in any order- they are meant to stand alone. I would recommend that you read the prequel novella, Power of the Matchmaker, first though. It will help you know the history behind the matchmaker, Pearl.

This book. This one has a different kind of love story. It's

My Review:
I find it interesting to read books about issues I have never thought of. This book brings up a situation that I think most of us never think about or at least never think will happen to us. I asked myself repeatedly while I read this book, "What would I do?" I asked my husband, "What would you do?" The story brings up questions of commitment, fidelity, joy, stagnancy, and ho

I really enjoyed BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH. It is part of The Matchmakers series which is a twelve book series all written by various authors. Miss Pearl is the matchmaker and she travels around the world matching one couple at a time that have no idea how to find their true love. I'm so excited to read more of this series. Michele Paige Holmes did a wonderful job with this story and she hooked me and pulled me in from the very first page. I'm excited t

This is another book in the Power of the Matchmaker series, and honestly one of my favorite installment.

Unlike most of the other books in this series, this one doesn't qualify as a light read. Actually, it's a heartbreaking romance between people who had really rough lives.
Cassie and Matt both had their share of heartache. Cassie's husband was shot on duty six and a half year ago and is now in a persistent vegetative

Oh my goodness. The Power of the Matchmaker series is filled with wonderful stories. There is a huge variety for every kind of romance reader. This book took the series to a whole new level for me.

This book features Cassie. Her husband was injured in the line of duty six years before. She is a devoted wife and mother and takes care of her home, job, and her husband. She is waiting for the time that he will come out of his vegetative state and become the husband she remembers. She also l

This book leaves you thinking what would you do if you were in Cassie’s situation? Then when Ms Pearl comes in she adds more to think about. It took me longer to read because I was thinking so much! My heart broke for both her and Matt.

I loved how this book was more than about two people but children as well. I loved the selflessness of Cassie. I loved how Matt worked hard at reining in his thoughts and desires for Cassie. I wanted them to be together so bad. But with her situation with a husban

What a wonderful addition to the Power of the Matchmaker series! This book dealt with some difficult situations, situations that really made me think and wonder how I would handle them. Both Cassie and Matt were inspiring in the way they handled their circumstances. Cassie’s love and loyalty were incredible! I felt the full spectrum of emotions as I read. I smiled, I laughed, I cried. It was heartrending at times, yet heartwarming and uplifting. I loved it!

This is another fantastic installment in the Matchmaker series! Six years ago, Cassie's husband, Devon, was shot and has been in a vegetative state ever since. Soon after that, she found out she was pregnant so has been raising Noah on her own. She diligently visits Devon each week, hoping that he will finally come back to her. Cassie coaches Noah's soccer team and meets Matt through his son. Matt is a single dad who is overwhelmed with raising two sons. Cassie and Matt become friends, which is ...more

This book was a great addition to the Matchmaker series!

Devon Webb was Cassie's first and only love - a love meant to last forever. No one could have foreseen the accident that left him in a vegetative state. Weeks after his accident, Cassie found herself pregnant with the child they thought they could never have. She was so sure that the one miracle was a sign that the greater miracle was happening. So for more than six years she has kept weekly dates with Devon, encouraging him to come back to

I have read all of Michelle Paige Holmes books and when I saw she was going to have a book in the matchmaker series I was excited to read it. I have been really impressed with the matchmaker series. Each book so far has been exceptional. Between Heaven and Earth is a emotional love story. Cassie and Devon were high school sweethearts. They dated all through college and married as soon as Cassie finished her under grad schooling. They were madly in love had planned on being together forever. Then ...more
I misjudged the book by the title (not by the cover - ha) I had it more in the paranormal category - which it is not. This is book eight in the Matchmaker series (ladies, please tell me you are going to do another set next year). It is contemporary and does a beautiful job exploring love, death, relationships, forgiveness, hope and trust. It is exceptionally well written and invites a depth not always found in the romance genre.
The author does a nice job of asking Cassie and Matt (our heroine a
I like Holmes writing. She has a way of digging in deep to get to the core reasons of why characters do what they do. I like her story lines. I was excited when I saw this new book. I enjoyed most of this book and I liked the whole idea. It felt real and raw, no easy ending to this story. I'm having a hard time with these matchmacker stories, trying to fit Pearl in with real life is hard for me and I am glad she didn't play a bigger part. I wish there had been more sweetness to this story, I fou ...more

I loved this book! It was somehow both heart-rending and heart-warming. It also really makes a person count their blessings and hopefully spurs them (us) to action in doing a better job showing their love and appreciation for their family members in the present.
This is my second matchmaker book and I loved seeing Pearl brought into the story in a different way.

My Musings

What an usual read. It grabbed me from the first page to the last. The writing is emotional and moved me tremendously. She's torn between her love for her husband who lives in limbo between earth an heaven. Her faith and hope cannot be matched. Thank God Pearl comes along. I love this series and can't wait to read more. Happy ☺reading 📚!
In this 8th book in the Power of the Matchmaker series we find a very faithful wife who for six years has been living with the desperate hope and belief that her husband was going to wake up and come home. I strongly admire her character. I imagine it would take a lot of determination and strength to keep going like that. And she's a great single mother to her son. However, once she meets Matt and starts interacting with him and his sons, she starts realizing how much she misses the actual prese ...more

This book does a great job expressing the emotions one would feel if they were in these situations. I cannot imagine some of the heartache these characters felt and the conflicting emotions the main character felt after six years of her husband in a vegetative state due to a criminal shooting him and then meeting this man who is interesting, kind, and a good person for her to talk to because she's spent so much time closing everyone off. I like that they help each other with their boys and becom ...more

This book was beautiful, sad, funny, and sweet. Cassie Webb has been raising her son alone for nearly six years. After her husband was shot, while on duty as a police officer, he went into a coma, and then "awoke" to a vegetative state". She visits him for date night every Friday, brings him his favorite dinner (which he can't eat), talks to him, and plays his favorite songs, hoping that someday he will wake up and join their family again. Her hope and dedication were so very sweet, and heartbre ...more

First of all, this is part of the Power of the Matchmaker series but definitely is a stand alone. Second, this was such a emotionally heart wrenching story. I may have sobbed a few times reading these chapters. It definitely hit the cry button. I felt my heart breaking for both Cassie and Matt. They had each lost their spouses in different ways and trying to cope with the loss plus with raising young boys. Wow, what an impossible situation for these characters. I really liked the premise of the story, not something that you see in a lot of stories.
Cassie is a very devoted and faithful wife and you wonder how she's been able to keep going this long alone with her child.
Matt is still floundering, pretty much not having a clue of what he's doing, but still trying to do what is right for his sons.
They strike an unusual friendship and you can see their relationship growing and developing, along with

This book gave me a roller coaster of emotions. At one point I wanted Cassie to find new love but sometimes I wanted her to stay true with her first love. Normally I don't like books from the perspective that it was written in but this book really sucks you in so I felt like I was the characters in this not just reading it. The ending was what I wanted with a very neat twist at the end that I loved. I'm not going to start looking for other books by this author and recommen

Update: I wrote the review below in the middle of the night after finishing the book. When I finally slept, the story filled my dreams. I realized I had misunderstood the relationship between Pearl and Cassie's mother. So you can disregard what I initially wrote about that. Could you imagine holding on so tight the one you love lives their life trapped in some kind of hell between Heaven and Earth when all their soul longs to do is move on?

I received my copy of this eBook in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Pearl hesitated a moment before responding. "I can help him, though not in the way that you desire me to."
