From Amanda Ashby, author of the charming contemporary romance Dating the Guy Next Door, comes an all new story of a fake relationship that might not be so fake after all…

LIARS OR LOVERS?

Young librarian Riley Harris has always maintained her independence, leaving the drama of love to anyone silly enough to fall for it. Her Jane Austen novels are as close as she cares to g

This was sweet. Sometimes, it's too sweet for me. The story is good. I loved the characters but there were some things that kept me from outright loving this.

One. There was a lack of distinction between the male and female POV a little bit. It wasn't glaringly obvious but it was enough that I sometimes had to go back to the beginning of the chapter just to see whose POV I was reading.

Two. It was fade to black. Okay. So this one is not the book's fault but my own. Nothing against fade to black

When the best part of the book is a guinea pig named Mr. Woodhouse, something might not be quite right. It's not that I hated it, or even disliked it, it's just that it just...was. It was nothing special. Same romantic story that we've heard before - best friends pretend to date only to realize they actually love each other. Throw in family troubles and bad past relationships and there's your drama. Every romantic cliche was added for extra effect. It all just felt a little contrived to me. I

I really enjoyed reading my first Amanda Ashby book. Her writing was engaging and left me wanting more. Her characters were down to earth and really good people. I loved the community aspect of the story. But my favorite part, most of all was the friends to lovers. The upkeep was slow at first, but I think she did that on purpose so her characters would realize that they wanted more out of their fake relationship. I can't wait to read more of Ashby's work.

I recieved a copy of this book in excha

I didn't dislike this book. The writing was good and the story was fun. I guess that I was just looking for a little bit more emotion from it. I love a good friends to lovers romance but I need to FEEL the attraction between them and unfortunately I just didn't with this one.

I went into this thinking I what a quirky couple Riley and Will were going to make only to reverse my thoughts and throw my hands up in frustration. The author jumps right into the story after Riley and Will have known each other for some time and are best friends as well as Will being Riley's landlord. Will volunteers a lot in third world countries and is rarely home, but when is older brother gets engaged, Will comes home for the wedding a

Dating the Guy Upstairs by Amanda Ashby is a friends-to-lovers romance with minimal angst and maximum sweetness. It is a refreshing take on the premise, and delightfully the characters are, for the most part, honest and upfront with one another. There are no games or guilt trips.

Both coming from broken homes, Riley and Will are each committed to not being involved in romantic relationships, so when strikingly good looking Will inquired about posting his flyer for his low rent flats at the librar

This is the second book by Amanda Ashby that I read. While her writing is nice, conversations entertaining at times, I didn't feel engaged with the story.

The saving grace for me is Mr. Bingley (or later, Mr. Woodhouse) of the rodent variety.

Wasn't he adorable? Who could resist that cute face!

As for the hero and heroine, despite the issues the characters having somehow I felt it only touched the surface. I couldn't warm up to them even though they were described as charitable to a fault. Riley w

This is my first book from Amanda Ashby. The story tugged at my heartstrings as it references "Pride and Prejudice" that made my inner Jane Austen fan girl very happy. We meet Riley Harris, librarian, who's parents are not of the stable reliable kind. Riley finds herself in debt as her mom's last love interest took all her money. She is working toward a promotion at work and has agreed to take care of a Guinea pig named "Bingley." Yes, that Bingley. Riley is trying to feed the stubborn Bingley w ...more

Dating the Guy Upstairs is a friends to lovers story and while I thought it was good I just didn't fall completely head over heels in love with it. The story starts off as Riley and Will being best friends who have known each other for some time and Riley looks after Will's place a lot since he's out of the country a lot. Will comes home because his brother is engaged while Riley is working her butt off to get a promotion at the library.

These two characters come off as close and when Will asks

I don't usually write book reviews and use the rating system to remind myself of the books I read and how I felt. However, If I'm going to say I didn't like something I feel the author (and possible other readers) would like to know why. So the story blurb looked like something I would like and have read other books by this tried and true trope so I jumped right in. Unfortunately the more I read the less I liked. The writing was actually well done with a good mix of dialogue and prose that kept ...more

This is my first book by Amanda Ashby, and I have to say I really liked it. Dating The Guy Upstairs’ was super sweet, adorable and very well written book. I loved the characters and their chemistry and would give it 3.5 stars.

William Henderson was adorable and I totally loved the way he would speak and treat Riley. And his whole ‘want to save the world’ persona was totally sexy. Add the quiet suffering he has going on because of being left heartbr

I read this for review at All About Romance and gave it an A-, which is five stars here. I wrote:

I took a chance and volunteered to review this by the new-to-me Amanda Ashby, and then instantly regretted my decision; it just didn’t sound like something I’d like. I tend to like slightly older heroes and heroines, and a romance between a couple in their mid-20s didn’t sound to my taste, I put off reading this for weeks after I received it. Thank goodness I finally gave in, as this is a delightful

I adored this book!!! This is my first book to read by Amanda Ashby, but it won't be the last. This story was well written and very relatable. I love how the characters are realistic, and going through problems that people actually face. It tugged at my heartstrings because I ended up with my best friend! I could really relate to the whole "it might ruin our friendship dilemma". I enjoy stories where you feel like you are in the story with them. This story definitely did that for me. 3 1/2 Stars! This was a fun read, and I liked getting to know these story people. They never really seemed to get out of the friend zone for me, though. They seemed to just take things as they came. I did like the sincere affection between them, and their very different family stuff. I loved Dating the Guy Next Door better than this installment, but the author is very good and I'll look for more from her!

I like how Will gives compliments, “trust me, there’s nothing you could do to embarrass me. Not ever. Are we clear? Besides, this dress looks amazing. If anything will convince my family that I’ve fallen for my best friend, this is it. Okay?” I really liked this book I loved Will I thought this was a sweet romance.

It wasn't bad, it just didn't engage my emotions. While the two have naked time, you don't get to read any of it, so this was clean writing. The writing was good, but I just didn't like the story. The hero was insensitive too much that it ticked me off.
