If you’re looking for a short PNR read with lots of intrigue and a hot hero, this one is for you! The Dragon’s Temptation holds all the tropes I love about PNR like the insta-love connection and the brooding alpha but this turned out to hold so much more. What I expected to be a run of the mill story of a magical connection with loads of hotness became a story of two star-crossed lovers of Romeo and Juliet proportions.

The ladies who make up Lily Cahill know how to mix the sweetness of their romance with interesting characters and tense plots and this one was no different. I hardly settled into the connection between Felicity and Damien before the hits started coming. Fast-paced and laced with old family secrets it held my attention and kept me turning pages. I loved the lore of this little novel and especially because it was unclear who was on the right side of the fence.

This book has sweetness, action, intrigue, a little angst and plenty of hotness to keep yu satisfied and I recommend it to any PNR fan!

Felicity discovered what we all knew already, dragons make flaming hot lovers! A powerful witch, long ago she took her human sister and ran from her magical family after they forgot the promises they made to their people. The Valdez family achieved a coup by overthrowing the ruling dragon family in a bloody battle, promising to make things better for the magical masses. Unknown to others, the four young dragon princes escaped and grew up in the human world, always on the watch for danger.

What were the odds that the eldest son, Damien would come walking into Felicity’s shop and become not only her Knight In tight jeans, but the man of her very sexy dreams? Theirs was a sizzling hot, growing love, the fact that the sheets did not combust is nothing short of miraculous, but one horrendous event brings their carefully hidden identities into the open and the anger and pain is palpable. Have you even seen a VERY angry dragon? Have you ever dealt with a very powerful witch with a broken heart? Felicity was also the plain sister, until Damian taught her the truth about her beauty, both inside and out. How could a love so full of emotion be wrong? How can Felicity and Damian move beyond the nightmares of their past?

The Dragon’s Temptation by Lily Cahill is another fast, fun and fabulously hot romantic read that makes the Hatfields and McCoys look like silly playground antics. Two powerful souls, sworn enemies, must join more than their hearts in a stand to save those they love…Lily, I love a good romance that threatens to melt my Kindle when the main characters deserve so much more than they have gotten.

I received this copy from Lily Cahill in exchange for my honest review.

Ingyen volt ezért azt mondtam kipróbálom. Nem volt rossz, rövid és gyors történet de persze lehetett volna kidolgozottabb. A kategóriájában 4/5⭐️

It was free so I said I'd give it a try. It wasn't bad, a short and quick story but of course it could have been more elaborate. 4/5 in its category⭐️

Not impressed

Even though I just finished the book, I can hardly recall the details. This book didn't call to me in any way. The characters were obviously not very thoroughly thought out, since even with plenty of pages to fill, you come away not knowing them, their personalities or any idiosyncrasies that they may posses. The plot was lacking, taking the easiest course available with no ups but plenty of predictability. I wouldn't recommend it even to those who enjoy shifter books, just too many words, filling up too many pages for a story that could have been cut in half and the reader wouldn't have missed a single step.

Not my cup of tea.

Too much sex for me. Usually just page through the pornographic parts but this one was basically a sex oriented story.

Interesting romance about a couple whose parents are enemies. One is a witch, the other a dragon shifter.

This is the story of a buxom witch with a human sister with that has a supernatural drug problem. She’s a wild child. One day, a sexy stranger walks into her bakery and things go so right and so wrong from that point. He’s one of the last dragons left after her family patriarch massacred his whole family. He has 3 other brothers and they only learn who the other really is after tragedy strikes. She’s tried for the last year to separate herself from her magical family and their misdeeds. Now, she needs his help and his forgiveness, and they both need the love of the other to fulfill a prophecy and heal the magical circles that they inhabit. I can’t wait to read the stories of the 3 brothers!

Not a bad start to the series

I love the idea of a dragon shifter romance. This made for a fast paced story. The plot and characters didn’t have a lot of depth. It was mostly a lot of sex (which was steamy) but there wasn’t much else to the story. I am glad it was offered as a kindleunlimited and I'm still likely to check out the next book in this series.

This book is a fast, fun, a ridiculously hot romantic read. Take two powerful souls that are sworn enemies, they HAVE to join their hearts and stand together to save those they love the most.

Felicity has discovers what everyone else has always known, that dragon's make the hottest lovers. Long ago a powerful witch took her human half sister and ran from her magical family after they forgot the promise they made to their people. The Valdez family, overthrew the ruling dragon family in a bloody battle. They promised after to make things better for all the magical masses. But, what the Valdez family didn't know was that the four dragon princes had escaped into the human world, living on constant watch for danger.

Damien, the oldest for the four princes walked into Felicity's shop and became her Knight in tight jeans and the man of her dreams. Very quickly theirs became a sizzling hot growing love. It was shocking that the sheets didn't combust was miraculous.

It was one horrendous event that eventually brings their carefully hidden identities out into the open and you can feel the hurt, pain and anger. It is palpable. Felicity is the sister of the powerful witch. And until Damian taught her the truth about her beauty, both inside and out she felt like she was just plain.

No one can understand how love can be so full of emotion and yet feel so wrong at the same time. How and will Damian and Felicity move beyond this nightmare to face their past and then face the future head on together?

I liked the Felicity, but couldn't figure out if she was black or dark as in tan. One minute she's described as having mocha skin, another time she's tanned. If she had been clearly black, I would've been impressed about the effort to diversify. As it's not clear, the writers' skill is poor imo.

I also liked Damien, but he was depicted as being so weak and scared, falling for the girl and then running away.

Other issues:
- Speed of light story and relationships.
- Worst example of instalove I've read: full-blown declarations and skipping out on getting to know each for sex, yet feeling like they're in love, ugh.
- The story was built around over-the-top reactions
- Taking advice from pop-up characters they have no reason to trust and don't question anything
- The world building was non-existant so I couldn't get a grasp of the world.

Even though the initial conflict is actually really good, it could have been explored so much better. Realistically, Damien's brother's should have disowned him and disappeared. They had NO chance to get to know Facility properly and yet trusted her straight away, even though Damien's instant love behavior was indicative of a spell. No wonder all their family died if that's how instantly they trust people!

Could have been better. Not reading on.

If you're looking for a quick read with a shallow story this one is for you. None of the characters or relationships are really fleshed out and the conflicts are light and relatively easily solved. The main couple has instant attraction (I enjoy a good fated mates story), go on a first date saying they are looking forward to actually getting to know one another, then leave the restaurant immediately after being sat at their table to have sex. Next morning the big identity reveal happens and que the hate and automatic suspicion from his side. He leaves without allowing her to explain anything (after all, they know NOTHING about each other) until a separate witch tells him he has been misunderstanding the prophecy for the past 20 years. He comes back saying all is forgiven and they still don't talk anything out, everyone just accepts they are a couple now.

It was OK until the end.

The magic system never gets explained; some people need a physical "focus" to cast spells, but our protagonist doesn't, and sometimes she doesn't even need words but sometimes she does. And the magic seems to do whatever the plot needs it to do. The writing style was Ok, and it was entertaining before that lazy ending.

Felicity is a witch who runs a coffee shop in a small town. Damien is a dragon shifter who does something so that he can afford a penthouse. No idea what he does though.
I don’t think anyone sat back and looked at the story. Because if they did, they would have realised Felicity & Damien essentially spoke 10 words before jumping into bed. Now, ordinarily that can be good. But this is not that type of book. It really didn’t hold up. They meet at her coffee shop. He comes in and “saves” her from a mouthy customer. He leaves without ordering anything (I think). Then comes back next day and asks her out. Then they meet for dinner, sit down and then decide to skip out and go straight to “dessert”.
From there they make some seriously life choices based on insta-love. Which we just don’t feel.

Damien is a dragon shifter in hiding, and his whole family are believed to be dead. Felicity is a witch who walked away from her powerful family. When the two meet, sparks fly, but then Damien discovers that Felicity is part of the family who betrayed his own family.

This was okay, but not great. For one thing, it was a bit too insta-love. Also, there were a couple of info dumps which were dull to read, and I found myself skimming over them. Constantly referring to Felicity as a "girl" seemed a bit off when she was an adult. There were also some typos, including a fairly bad one in the first sentence of chapter 2.

It was an okay read, but it had a few too many issues for my taste.

I enjoyed the plot but was not overly caught up in the romance. The oldest daughter of a magical family meets and instantly falls in love with the oldest of the last dragons. Her father had killed all of the dragons some years earlier, not realising that the youngest four had escaped. The Insta-love in this case seemed a bit far fetched, even if Damien did run away on finding out.
There are a few loose ends — who is the strange powerful witch? And there are a few errors that need to be edited out.

Pretty good. I enjoyed the voice of this author. I was hooked from chapter one, really liking the girl’s story, but then got to chapter two and the guy fell flat. But I pushed through, despite loathing every guy POV chapter. The intimacy was pretty straightforward and typical of most open-door books. Wasn’t impressed. I did like the storyline and premise and liked how things turned out. Note: I picked up this book because I liked the new cover of the fourth book, and this one was free. These old cover editions are cringy.

Loved this book!

I've read Cahill before and enjoyed her work, but this is so far from her more conventional romances that I've moved her to my must-read list. Creative, clever, and spellbinding, I was glued to my reader to the last period. My only criticism is, please learn the difference between vice and vise. I really don't think she gripped him like a destructive habit. If you know it, change proofers. You don't deserve to have such an error connected to your name. Thanks, this was great!

Good story.

I enjoyed the book.
It is story about a witch and a Dragon shifter.
The witches father killed the the entire Dragon species to gain and rule the entire Magical Kingdom, and succeeded in ruling..... But, unknowingly, the Dragon offspring was rescued and survived.
For me, the sex should have been secondary, and too explicit and long, 4 or 5 pages.

There is nothing like a dragon shifter story

Lily Cahill has demonstrated mastery of the form with this book. The meeting of fated lovers was perfect, the challenges to be overcome made sense within the story. The resolution was satisfaction itself. I felt happy for all the characters involved. Read this!

Felicity and Damien are both running from who they really are, and it seems impossible that they could ever trust enough to come together. The coup that Felicity's father pulled on Damien's family was unforgivable. The one question I'm hoping will be answered in the following books of the series is, who was that little old lady?

It was cute but predictable

Overall not much character growth. The FMC and MMC don’t even get to know each other before fxcking. Very Insta-love, but I get it (they are fated mates). There could’ve been more build-up. Basically, there wasn’t enough foreplay for my liking (and I’m not talking about the smut here - there was plenty of that).

Short and spicy and an easy listen.

POV: dual third

You can expect: coffee shop owner FMC, witch FMC, dragon shifter MMC, fated mates, family enemies, insta lust, miscommunication.

Rep: Latina FMC, curvy FMC

Spice: 3/5

CW: mention of past fat shaming by a parent, drug overdose, murder of parents (past)

2/5 ⭐️ 1/5🌶

It was not bad but could have been better. It was very rushed I feel like if it was longer this had potential to be a VERY good book. The characters were strong and well developed for being a short book. I would have liked the romance to be less rushed and less 'she my mate I would forgive her for everything' type of romance but that being said I did like it.

4.5 stars. No complaints on this one. For only being 200 pages, the pacing was great and spicy scenes with great plot. Felicity is so relatable and clever and Damien is a true book boyfriend. When two oldest sibling unite!

I am reading from Lily Cahill’s 2025 special edition paperback of the Kings of Fire Series that I backed on Kickstarter. ❤️

Loved it

I usually don’t care for any book that they fall in love quickly. But this is an exception. Loved it.
The dance between them was wonderful.
Just downloaded set because I loved it so much.
