SNAKES IN THE GARDEN is a YA historical with a strong female heroine. The story is mostly set in the sixteen hundreds in England. There's just a hint of romance with just some kissing and no hanky panky. This book is actually the inaugural collaboration of Victoria with her daughter, C.A. Roberts. It is the story of Annella Poley, an assassin for the Crown, and of mountain-of-a-man Marcus Grant, the burly, no-nonsense captain of the Grant's clan guard.

We first catch up with Annella in Venice, I

Snakes in the Garden by Victoria Roberts, & C. A. Roberts is an intriguing Historical Romance set in 1600's England. Simply put, WOW! What an exciting surprise!

Marcus Grant, a Highland captain of the Grant clan, at the King's court, with his Laird, at the King's request.

This short novella from Victoria Roberts and her daughter is unique and captivating, and I hope to see more from this duo in the future.

Following in her father's footsteps, Annella Poley has become an assassin for the crown. Training and working with her "Uncle" George and his son, Simon, Annella is kicking butt and taking names. She was such a unique heroine, that you can't help but be fascinated with her.

Marcus Grant is your typical Highland Hero - large and in charge all the way. He is loyal

I need to start off by saying that this was an awesome story and I found it hard to put down. It was exciting and thought provoking. I can not wait to see if this is perhaps the beginning of a series, one can only hope. I can honestly say that I see a bright future for this young writer along side her mother. This story was full of just enough intrigue and action to leave you shocked and salivating for more. It was one surprise after another, making you almost wish that the story would never end ...more

Victoria Roberts partnered with her daughter to write an amazing book that has girl power written all over it. I love to have a heroine that fights like a man and isn't intimidated. It was great to have the English and Scottish being not just protective but a family. This book had some tragic moments of loss which scars Annella at an early age and is guided with revenge of what occurred. This is another great book by Victoria. Don't miss out.

I love Victoria Roberts, but I don't normally read novellas because they are short and too fast but that was not the case here. I really enjoyed the novella from beginning to end. I always love it when the author gives you twist and turns. I can't wait to see what she writes next.

This novella was fantastic! It was thrilling, and full of intrigue! With new secrets and surprises popping up on every page, I didn't want it to end. Annella is an amazing assassin, and seeing her handle herself was very exciting. I really liked that the men let her handle things pretty much on her own, because they knew she was capable. The story jumps right into the thick of things right from the beginning, and kept going. I thought it was the perfect quick read. I don't know they did it, but ...more

THE NEW AND EXTRAORDINARY VERSION!!!!

Every now and then we get a phenomenon. If this apprentice author lives up to her promise, we have a lot to look forward to, and the loss of Jo Beverley will not hurt quite as badly.
Even taking into account that a very seasoned author had hand in this, the fresh approach to some features of the story, particularly the pain felt by Annella, shows the influence of a new voice. The female protagonist is strong, but also human, which creates space for her to be

Combined writing of Victoria Roberts and C. A. Roberts this story was a joy to read. Annella Poley has spent her life as a assassin for the King. She has one goal find the man who killed her father. On her latest mission at court she's stopped at every turn by a mountain of a Scotsman Marcus Grant. She just can't seem to shake the man. If he doesn't stop she just might have to kill the man. WOW! Snakes in the Garden was a great novella that was full of action, heart ache and love. I was hooked from the very first page and could not put this book down until finished. I loved Annella! She's a feisty young woman who wants to know more about her past, but hides a secret from the world. Marcus is a sexy, rugged Highlander, who is the size of a mountain. These two had me laughing at their banter and I could feel the sparks fly! I loved that Snakes in the Garden was written by Victoria an ...more

What a story! It's a nice short one that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This one takes on twists and turns you don't see coming. I really liked Marcus. What's not to like he's a yummy kilt wearing highlander. Then you have Annella a very strong heroine. Right from the start this book had my attention because of Annella. She experience something no one should then she grows into a remarkable woman. She's an assassin so she can kick some butt. It was fun to watch her interact with Marcus. ...more

I adored this book!!! It was special since Victoria teamed with her daughter, C.A. and it did not disappoint. A strong female character in any book I read is a definite plus…it adds to the drama and action throughout the book. The main character Annella witnesses the death of a loved one at an early age, and it affected her life’s path as an adult. Things don’t always seem to go her way, when the table are turned, but she rises above. I really enjoyed this and highly recommend it!!! Awesome job ...more

A great novella to start out a collaboration between two authors, I am excited to see where C.A. Roberts writing goes.

Plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader intrigued throughout this novella. I am excited to see where this story takes us. The heroine is believable as a character who was raised to be an assaisn like her father.

I love a good intrigue.

I am not usually one to read novellas, but every once in a while one will catch my interest. This one not only caught my interest but held it for the entirety. I love that this was written by a mother daughter team. They worked together and wrote a great story. I want more! I would love to follow the heroines family. Mayhap her children will follow in her footsteps?
