Their dragon soul helps them find treasure, their wicked powers help them steal it. But there’s a big freaking downside—FireSouls are hunted. Mirror Mage is book two in the Dragon's Gift: The Huntress by Linsey Hall.

This series has potential with the world and overall arc being appealing, but unfortunately the characters and world-building are underdeveloped and lacking.

In the Dragon's Gift: The Huntress series we get a little magic, a dash of paranormal with a dose of archeology and history. Mirror Mage takes place just after the first book, Ancient Magic.

Cass is a FireSoul, (what ever that means), masquerading as a Mirror Mage and

Why am I still reading this series, you ask?
Well, with gems like this:
“The Monster from my past hunted me. I didn’t know his name, but I’d learned a week ago that he was still seeking me and my deirfiúr. My deirfiúr, Del and Nix, were my sisters by choice. If he caught me, I could kiss my life goodbye. And the lives of my deirfiúr.”
How can I resist being swept away by such charming writing?
Snarky opinion aside, I really hoped the series would get better as it progressed...even a little

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series Ancient Magic so was overjoyed when the author contacted me asking if I wanted to read the next book, er yes please! So I sat down and immersed myself yet again in this world she has created. It's a world were magic folk live in plain sight but the humans have no idea who they sometimes deal with and in the last book we met Cass and her two'sisters'. They are reviled FireSouls, capable of absorbing powers at the point of death and in this story ...more
This series has potential. The world & overall series arc is what's interesting. Unfortunately, the characters & world are underdeveloped.

The world lacks any depth. We're told the basics of how it works in book 1, then are left to flounder. Magic doesn't seem to have any rules or regulations pass incarceration if you're a certain type of magical breed (which the h happens to be).

The characters seem shallow. The h makes asinine decisions. She's got the self preservation of a fish. The h

Second novels in a series are usually problematic. Not Mirror Mage!
I already shared how much I enjoyed Ancient Magic, and now I've had the chance to devour the next book too! What a great reading month it has been!

The story line gets more complex; the situation far more dangerous. Cass is a badass, and so are her friends and sisters and oh let's not forget the hottie Scot that has decided to be her protector! In Mirror Mage, Cass gets

Erin's Book Reviews:

Cass is in for it again. Hunted by the Monster from her past, her new job helping the shifters may not end up unrelated. And with Aidan as her tag along it will be even harder to control her magic as well as her libido. In this FireSoul's new chapter, will she save the day or end up back in a cage?

Cass struggles to accept her powers as a FireSoul and use them in every day

This a guilty read for me. I'm supposed to be studying the French Revolution right now, and this is to prevent burning out from to much studying.

Mirror Mage Dragons Gift the Huntress Book 2

Linsey hall

Take a little magic stir briskly add a big dose of archeology and history, throw in some Paranormal, add a touch of Fantasy for spice and you have the basis for Linsey Hall’s Dragons Gift Series. Oh and add some hunky, big, tall, good looking males to go with some sweet, sexy, curvy, females and you have the Romantic side. Magnifique!

Set just after the first book, Ancient Magic ends Cass and Aidan are trying to get away from a bunch of

Mirror Mage picks up a week after the end of Ancient Magic inside a tomb in an Indiana Jones style raid. Cass and Aiden are using this raid for Cass to practice her magic on the demons that are guarding the tomb; for those of us that love Indiana Jones you’ll certainly like how Mirror Mages kicks off! When Aiden and Cass return to Magic Bend after their raid our story really gets going. While the gang kicks back at P&P Mathias shows up to

I received a free advance digital copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank You so much Linsey!!!!

The Mirror Mage, the second installment in Dragon's gift: The Huntress series, has not yet been officially released. The book is expected to be published this coming May 4, 2016. And because of this, I will avoid any major spoilers in this review, which is a very hard task for me because this series has easily wormed its way into my favorite books for 2016.

This is the second book in The Dragon’s Gift Series by Linsey Hall. This book picks up quickly right where Book 1, Ancient Magic, leaves off. There is enough background information to where you can read this book without reading Book 1 and not be lost. I would urge all readers to read the first book beforehand just because it was a great story also. I am giving this book 5 stars. My only wish was that it would not have ended. Now I have to wait for the next book and I am pretty impatient.

Good and Evil, magic and mundane, monsters and heroes…and a whole lot more can be found in this second book of the Dragon’s Gift series.

FireSoul Cass and Aidan “The Origin” are the main stars in this book. They met in book one and there was definite attraction between the two of them that carries over into this story. Good friends Connor and Claire appear from time to time and are told a secret by Cass and her deirfiúr, Nix and Del. A few new characters appear and may have parts in future books
Mirror Mage picks up not long after the end of Ancient Magic and from page one we are off and running with the characters. There is a lot that happens in this book and only served to whet my appetite into wanting more. We get a glimpse into how the Alpha Council, one of the main governing bodies in their world, operates, shown the reason why Cass and her sisters are so adamant about keeping the fact that they are FireSouls underwraps. And get a little glimpse into the girls pasts as Cass’s ...more

There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book.

This was a DNF after 11%
Not only was the whole first book summarized and all info repeatedly given AGAIN in the first 11% but also the writing style didn't improve a bit.
To write is an art and a gift. There is a reason why i am a reader and not a writer. But here i am not sure if it was meant to be a children's book or a school assignment.
I get that you give information or summaries a first book in a series,

This is another one of those books you might enjoy without reading the first book in the series but I seriously doubt it. Too much background is in that first book so if you have not read it stop and go get it before you even think about reading this book.

Cass and Aidan make a great couple, throw in some really great secondary characters who are fleshed out pretty well so they don’t seem like cardboard cutouts and you have a great story.

This story is a mixture of several plots with the same

This one was on the short side, but we got to learn more about Aiden's past and how he grew up. I like that they are getting to know each other slowly and learning to trust each other. I'm glad that even though you have three characters each book doesn't change the main character. I don't know if I would enjoy a main character POV change. I know a series that has three sisters and book 1 would be the oldest sister, book 2 the middle and 3 the youngest then book 4 it starts over in the

The plot thickens as Cass discovers that the Monster is behind the recent kidnapping of a 10 year ol shifter child. Aiden is now training her every chance he gets. The close proximity is stirring up feelings that Cass feels maybe too dangerous to let out. But she can't seem to deny them anymore. Even though their secret may be revealed, Del and Nix are convinced that Aiden can be trusted. Claire, Connor and the leonine Mathais play major roles in this book too. I love the way the story is ...more

Another great book by a fantastic author! I devoured this one, and I rarely go on to the second book in a series. Yes, it does what sequels should do - move along series arcs, explain more about characters and backstory, and heighten the overall danger - but it has enough tension, plot line, and charming moments to stand on its own. Can't wait to read the third!

Good series

As good as book 1. The story just keeps going and I am the impatient type, so I wish they would move the love story side along a little faster but its made me anxious to Read Book 3 to see where the story goes.

Hmmmm... I can't say there was anything wrong with this one. In essence it had everything going for it. Strong interesting heroine. Action packed story full of intriguing characters and suspense. And the hunky hero. I guess that is the problem with it. I kept searching for that WOW factor that makes it catch one by the imagination and not want to let go. And unfortunately it never did for me. I realize there a heck ton of books attached to this series and I was tittering on the edge of will they ...more

The setup of the series is a bit urban-fantasy-formulaic, but it’s a fun formula, so I don’t mind. Aidan is trying to help Cass learn to control her powers so she can better protect herself when “the Monster” inevitably comes for her and her sisters. Naturally she’s attracted to him but not quite sure yet if she can trust him (not that she seems to have a choice right now). There’s a definite spark between these characters, so I’m rooting for their inevitable relationship, I admit.

Aidan is close

I feel like this review will almost be the same as the one for her first book but I'll try to make it different.

1P- Four "badass" female characters!
2P- Storyline goes into their background more which is great!

1C- Still VERY repetitious
2C- Details didn't add up again
3C- I'm starting to feel...the characters are a bit flat

1C- AGAIN, this book (dare I say) is even more repetitious than the last! Even at the end of the book we are learning about Connor's magic latte and Claire's fighting

The author is good but commits herself to a romance that is essentially forced. What I mean by that is that the author gives her strong, independent female MC several reasons not to get into a relationship, primarily that any relationship will endanger her sisters. The only reason the MC has to get into a relationship is that she wants to. The author should have done more work on this aspect of the story because as written the romance aspect of the story undermines her MC. (Note, this was also ...more

In "Mirror Magic" Cass once again attempt to regain her sense of security and safety by keeping outsiders at bay. However, all of that is about to change when she is visited by Matthias, a shifter, and he wants her to go to the Alpha Council with him.

At first Cass refuses even with the hefty fee he is offering. However, when she discovers that a child name Amara's life is at risk, she decided to go. If course Aiden accompanies her and she is starting to think that maybe she can let him in just a
