I received a copy of My Girl by Jack Jordan through NetGalley for an honest review.

Paige Dawson sits blurry-eyed on her couch after a soul-numbing cocktail of diazepam, codeine, and low quality wine. The upholstery makes deep indentations in her skin from hours of blocking out any contact with the world at large. Paige is at the receiving end of the remnants left behind from the brutal murder of her young daughter, Chloe, and the recent suicide of her husband, Ryan.

Jack Jordan presents a woman o

I wish to thank Net Galley and especially Jack Jordan for gifting me a copy of My Girl in exchange for an unbiased review.

This is my first read by British author Jack Jordan, and I was pleasantly surprised. This little book packs a punch! The protagonist is Paige, a 40ish year old woman who is suffering mightily since the mutilation and murder of her daughter 10 years previous and the recent suicide of her husband. I must say I was getting impatient with Paige, wanting to bop her a good one to

"My Girl" is the first book I have read by the author Jack Jordan, and I would like to thank him for my signed copy that I won on Twitter at Christmas.
I have heard SO much about Jack through online book clubs that I couldn't wait to read his work, he is a very highly thought of author and praised by many and therefore I had high expectations for this book. I wasn't disappointed, "My Girl" is a hell of a book, fast paced, dark, disturbing and oh so much tension. I do agree with a couple of review

Many thanks to bestselling British author, Jack Jordan and Net Galley for providing me with a copy of his second novel, MY GIRL, the new terrifying dark psychological thriller, in exchange for an unbiased review. Having just read his debut novel, ANYTHING FOR HER, and loving it, I jumped at the chance to read this novel. WOW was I in for a treat! This is a standalone novel and not for the faint hearted.

Paige's life is spinning out of control. She drinks to the point of having blackouts ... and the things she does with her doctor to get narcotics is shameful and disgusting. She's existing ... but she's not living.

I would like to thank the author and his blog tour team for for giving me the chance to read this book.

We meet Paige. She is very disturbed about what happened to her daughter some ten years before and the recent suicide of her husband. She is trying to drown it out along with the visions of the blood bath of her husband and the loss of her daughter with drink.

Everyone is concerned with how much she is drinking. But Paige is on a gentle road to destruction and her extra meds are provided from he

Firstly, thank you to the Jack Jordan, who asked me to read this book, approving me through Net Galley, thanks also to the publishers and Net Galley.

Firstly, I would like to say want a great potential from this great new young author.

Paige is on a self-destructive slide that she seems unable to control. Paige's 14-year-old daughter Chloe was abducted and killed ten years ago, and Paige had to bury an arm - the only part of Chloe that was found. Now Paige's husband Ryan, unable to cope with his grief, has committed suicide.

Paige, already distraught, is completely upended by Ryan's desertion. She drinks bottle after bottle of wine, lives on sedatives and pain killers, and smokes too much. Paige's house is filthy - covered wit

Oh, boy. Not even sure where to start with this one. I'm baffled by all the positive reviews. This was bad. Really bad. I wouldn't have even finished it if it wasn't such a short, easy read. All in all I think it took me about an hour and a half.

I hate being so critical of a book because I know a lot goes into writing one, but I'm just being honest here.

There's no character development whatsoever. It's like you're just being told the details of a story without any insight into anything that ha

I'm not exactly sure what went wrong here. It's moving right along, unreliable narrator, good storyline and then halfway it's like a different writer took over. I like a fastpaced book but this got sloppy and rushed the second half. So not believable of how it ended. Totally 3-4 star for first half developing the main character, second half 1 star. ...more

This is the second book I've read by Jack Jordan and again it didn't disappoint.

Paige Dawson is drinking heavily and taking prescription drugs like their sweets to try and mask the pain she's feeling as she tries to come to terms with losing her daughter and husband. Years previously her daughter had been murdered though no body had ever been found and in recent months, Paige's husband took his own life through despair. It's agony and heartbreak for Paige as her life stumbles into a massive down

That was one fast-paced whirlwind of a ride!

My Girl is, in one word, disturbing. The book is broken into three parts, with a BIG twist I did not see coming halfway through. I have to admit, he really got me there.

I believe the author really got into the head of a mother overcome with pain after the murder of her daughter. Paige is incredibly broken, and makes a series of horribly bad decisions in order to cope, however I can completely relate to her pain as a mother myself.

This is a quick read, and if you like the tropes of suspense novels, I think you'll enjoy this--it moved right along and never lagged. There's a twist that will keep genre readers interested.

My Girl is a fast paced thriller that just keeps on giving …and giving, even when you think there is nothing left to give!

I’m not going to say much about the plot, but it is one of those stories that makes you question how much you truly know those closest to you. You know the saying “crazy in love”, well this book gives that a whole new meaning.

This thriller is twisted and full on. Just when you think you’ve thought of everything, something else causes you to gasp and slap your hand across your

I can't remember being so disappointed in a book for such a long time, especially given the half dozen good reviews I read for this book.

There is no doubt that Jack Jordan can write, but this story was nothing short of bizarre. It started strongly with an unlikelable female protagonist that was well written and intriguing. The reasons for her state of mind and her state of health explained her lack of regard for herself and life in general. Great stuff. Then strange things started to happen, bu

Another great book from Mr Jack Jordan, I have to say I am a fan now for sure. This is quite a short novel at only 240 pages but do not let this deceive you there is so much to this story. Paige's daughter was horrifically murdered ten years ago and all they found of her was her arm, how very tragic. Paige then suffers another loss when her husband, distraught over his daughters death, commits suicide. This is easily one of the worst books I've ever read. Have I been spoiling myself with only stellar books or is this book just way below average? Possibly a little of both. What started out as merely bad (characters, plot, dialogue) devolved into the utter ridiculous around 50% in. The only reason I continued with this book until the end is because I was provided a copy for review by Netgalley and the publisher and I take the obligation seriously.

I read and enjoyed Anything For Her, which is the authors debut novel, last year and really enjoyed it. I knew that the author was going to be one to watch out for and was very excited about reading his new novel, My Girl.
