I'm at something of a loss when it comes to evaluating this book. It's extremely offbeat, from drawings to story structure to characterization to world-building, but there are things to like. Kelly Pedersen's background artwork is phenomenal, particularly the images of Summer Hill Farm and the picturesque Pennsylvania landscape surrounding it. Pennsylvania abounds with majestic scenery, and Kelly Pedersen's illustrations well represent its beauty. The story also offers some unexpectedly tender ...more

I won this picture book: Finding Love on Summer Hill through a Goodreads Giveaway. This is my honest opinion of Kelly Pedersen's book. This picture book, appropriate for ages 4-8, will show your child why dogs are considered to be "man's best friend". They like to play and eat just like you do. Dogs also are afraid of loud noises - like thunder, new places, or people. They want to be loved, too, just like you! If they feel loved by you, they'll trust you, and become affectionate towards you. The ...more

Finding Love on Summer Hill by Kelly Pedersen will catch your eye as the illustrations are beatifically done. The story includes life lessons about love and how when you concentrate on others your fears get to be less. It centers on a rescued sheltie puppy that is brought to Summer Hill. It would make a wonderful addition for any library. It would make a great gift for children from around 4 to 8 years old.

I received a copy thru a Goodreads giveaway.

Sweet and beautifully illustrated story about the relationship between humans and their family pets. I would highly recommend this book to any family considering adding a pet to their household. The book does a good job showing that although a new pet might take a bit of time to adjust to their new home, they will soon show their love and loyalty to their new family. Overall, a really cute story!

I won this book in a giveaway and that was my fair and honest review.

The love for the subject matter that resides within the author/illustrator is obvious as you read this book. When I was young, I would've treasured receiving a book like this, because it would have been proof that someone else understood how I felt about animals. So, in that spirit, I have passed my copy along to my niece. I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways. It is autographed.
