Aj the Ravenous Reader
Vincent, Survivor is an interesting read that mixes urban fantasy and apocalyptic elements. I was generously provided a paperback copy by Mr. O.L. Eggert himself in exchange of a review and I would like to express my many thanks for his kind gesture.

I thought the premise of the story is unique while the writing pretty strong and accurate. I just felt like the main characters, save for Granny, could use more development and deeper characterizations. What I felt for these characters reminded me

This novel was provided free of charge by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Imaginative, exciting and a definite page turner.

Right from the beginning I became invested in the main characters. Their back story was realistic, well written and presented in a rapid, well-integrated way as to not slow down the pace of the main plot. Vincent is a great character. He's flawed in so many ways but so very real and believable. He behaves exactly as someone with his background would and I loved

#DNF

Well I had to DNF Vincent, Survivor. I really struggled with the decision to DNF this book. I don't like to DNF books, but we all know it's necessary sometimes. I had a harder time doing that with this one because it started off really strong for me.

So why did I DNF? What happened? I lost interest. Plain and simple. I'm not even sure why really. One

Vincent is NOT your stereotypical, alpha survivor with amazing skills, he is one of the millions of regular people in bad circumstances in the world who does little to help remove himself from those circumstances. Sure, he tries to keep his head down and go unnoticed in the bad neighborhood he lives in, that and Grandma, the coarse shop owner is pretty much all that keeps him from being mugged, or worse. Then it happened, his reality, as bleak as it was shattered the day the minotaurs invaded ...more

Vincent, Survivor follows Vincent Li as he navigates his life in Oakwood, trying to avoid the local gangs that are out to get him.

But then everyday life starts to go awry. People are dying, getting kidnapped, and going missing - and Vincent starts to think that maybe something's not quite right. When creatures that had previously existed only in fantasy and mythology begin cropping up, the world turns into a

I received a free e-copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review and Im happy to say that yes I sincerely loved the book.

Vincent, survivor is a real gem of paranormal thriller. The action starts from chapter one and the pace never slows down, in fact even during the rare moments where you get to catch your breath you can still feel the tension in the air, you already know that somethings potentially bad is going to happen soon enough.

The plot was good and kept you turning

+Received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

I had been thinking about getting into urban fantasy lately so when the opportunity arrived I couldn't resist it and I actually liked this book so yas! I'll read more urban fantasy in the future.

THE WORLD: It takes place in Oakwood (US) where the world was all normal until The Catastrophe happened, the day mystical creatures (like centaurs, sorceresses, minotaurs, etc) took over the world and starting killing humans.

Id like to start with a thank you to the author. O.L. Eggert contacted me about his debut novel, which he described as (and I quote) an urban fantasy with a dark, apocalyptic twist. After reading the synopsis, I decided it seemed like a thoroughly interesting read. Being a lover of such things, and having a soft spot for review requests, I said yes.

Ill admit to having a bit of an up and down with the story. There were times when the book was great, and yet at the same time I wasnt as engaged

Thank you to the author for supplying his book in an exchange for an honest review.

I didn't hate the book, but I didn't enjoy it either. It was too jumpy, too much going on and a lot of conversation that simply had nothing to do with the plot line whatsoever. The plot line was forgotten then remembered then forgotten again in favour of silly family feuds that were unnecessary. The characters weren't well-rounded, I didn't believe in them and felt a lot of them were crude and cruel just because.

I was provided a free copy in exchange for an honest review. And honestly, I read it in a day and a half because I couldn't stop. The world was unique; Vincent, Flea and Grandma were worth the price of admission; and the plot was easily discerned but the outcome was unexpected. Reminded me of Supernatural and Aisling Grey in turns. I'm in love with Flea, he's freaking adorable. I hope the next book answers the unanswered questions.

I was given an e-copy of Vincent, Survivor: An Apocalyptic Urban Fantasy Thriller (Vincent Series Book 1) by O. L. Eggert for review.

Vincent, Survivor... was right up my escapist, apocalyptic alley; a group of average people trying to survive an extinction level event. This extinction level event is very different from the norm. No plague, no evil corporations, not even any zombies (by the accepted definition anyways). Not really a spoiler; we are under attack by mythical beings.

There are many

Great story! I had a really good time reading this one. Post apocalyptic plus fantasy makes for an exciting fantastical fun read, I loved every minute of it.

Vincent's home town is turning into a ghost town. Murder rates have doubled and missing persons cases have tripled, but no one can seem to figure out what's going on. Vincent's neighbor is acting strangely, and when Vincent and his brother Dante witness him being kidnapped they call 911 and get an automated message telling them to try again

Full of fun, this wacky dystopian novel pulled me in from the first page. Vincent and his older brother Dante practically grew up on the streets. With all the violence, disappearances, and his brother getting locked up in jail, Vincent assumed that his city Oakwood would kill him eventually. But that's where he's wrong. Evil forces have come into the world through magic portals and he has to dodge minotaurs and ghouls. He wishes he had to worry about gang violence, because this is too weird even ...more

5/5 for a truly engaging story, and for multifaceted characters that shine from start to finish.

Vincent Survivor is a tale of complexity that transcends genre conventions and enters into an entirely new demesne of storytelling.

Where this book shines the most is in its characters and their interactions with each other and external forces. These characters are no shining examples of the traditional hero, but rather real, gritty people with as many layers as an onion. There is no bowing to the

I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Eggert creates a world that sucks you in within the first few chapters, creating a fantastical story with out of this world creatures that would be ridiculous in a lot of cases but not in this. I mean, portals where mythical creatures come through and destroy life on earth along with a talking pug of a wizard? It should be silly but it's definitely not.

I had to admit, I was scared half the time. Those minotaurs were terrifying

Review: 4 Stars

Vincent, Survivor is a bit different than some of the typical YA I've been reading as of late and if I'm honest part of what drew me to it. It's real and gritty. It's the end of the world and there is lots of swearing and some bad decisions. Vincent is a regular guy working in a gang infested home of Oakwood where he always

I was blown away by this new fantasy novel, which exceeded all of my expectations. I read the whole thing almost non-stop in two days, constantly intrigued by the creatures and motives for the monster invasion. The story is told from the perspective of Vincent (duh), which I really enjoyed. Hes such a flawed character but that actually works in his favor. It makes him more real, and unlike other books where the hero ends up being a super trained navy seal with ultra strength, this guy was more ...more

Okay, I gotta be honest. When I started out, I was thinking more like 3 stars. It felt a tad bit....well, corny. A wizard pug? But, I kept reading, and kept getting sucked in deeper and deeper, and suddenly, that wizard felt like he'd be weird and cheesy if he were anything else.

I really liked how there were flashbacks sprinkled here and there, showing Vincent's development, how things came to be as they are, in a way I've never read before!

Fantastic

I give this book two thumbs way, way, up. Vincent Li is the protagonist everyone can find a part of themselves in. He's witty, sarcastic, crude, angry, terrified and confused. Ultimately he's a man trying to survive and doing the best he can in a world that's gone crazy. This book has everything you might hope for and then some. Magic, minotaurs, a talking dog, love and heart break, not to mention twists and turns guaranteed to blindside you. Anyone after a gripping urban fantasy

First, I got to thank O.L. Eggert for giving me the opportunity to read his book.

The characters are perfect, but the story is not. I really enjoyed the diversity of the characters and the humoristic content. But, it was a little too implausible for me to give it a 5 stars.

I have to say give it a chance and see.
