Though a bit dated (it was published in '89), this is a pretty good book for undertsnading the development of the South Korean country and economy. However, I think the authors chose to ignore the darker side of the chaebol growth (cronyism, corruption, anti-labor practices) which is unfortunate because I think such things were pretty important. The discussion of cultural norms that contirbuted to Korea's success was spot-on, though.
