Twenty years after renowned palaeontologist Doctor Aubrey Channing goes missing after making a spectacular discovery in the Badlands of Montana, Ethan Warner and Nicola Lopez of the Defense Intelligence Agency’s ARIES program are despatched to investigate bizarre links between the scientist’s disappearance and a legendary UFO encounter witnessed by hundreds in the Brazilian town of Varginha.
But they are not alone in their quest. Pursued by the cabal of Majestic Twelve, who have chosen to eliminate their foes once and for all, and with Aaron Mitchell’s shadowy assassin gunning for revenge against all who have crossed him, suddenly everybody is on the hunt for Channing.
As they close in on the mystery so Ethan and Nicola realize that the end has begun, for the Sixth Extinction is already upon us and only one man possesses the key to its cure. From the freezing glaciers of Norway’s Doomsday Vault to the remote jungles of Madagascar, the sweltering heat of Brazil’s rainforests and a mysterious island in the Atlantic Ocean, Ethan and Nicola must race against time to defeat not only their foes but their allies too. For in the race for survival, it’s every man for himself…
Warner and Lopez continue on in their endeavour to shut down The Majestic 12. Once again no lack of action, suspense and light hearted humour. Just as good as read as the first 4 Warner and Lopez books. The ending is a real masterpiece, completely unexpected.
Having now read all of the Warner & Lopez series (in a slightly odd order) I can honestly say how brilliant they all have been. I must admit that I didn't see the twist in this book coming so it was a great surprise. I am not tonight give any spoilers! Great plot, more character development, surprises, things going bang or book and an edge of your seat from beginning to end. I look forward to reading more as they are published.
This series of books is becoming alarmingly addictive! Like Trump, I always considered myself to be a kind of genius, but I learn many new concepts and find myself looking up terms and words throughout the novel, it's a fun read, satisfying action, some nasty bad actors. I'll be downloading the next one shortly.
I had a hard time linking the sciences explanations in this one. Couldn't quite follow why one subject followed the previous one at first. Things mostly solidified later, though. And I really like Ethan.
This review is on The Extinction Code by Dean Crawford. This is the first story I have read by this writer.
This story starts off in Varginha, Brazil in 1996 with soldiers and military police investigating a possible UFO sighting and alien creatures. Local people who saw something are investigated and told to remain silent or face punishment. One young soldier named Rodrigo saw a creature and was told by his captain to never say anything to anyone about what happened there that night.
The story moves quickly to the Montana Badlands in 2002. Doctor Aubrey Channing is told where to look for prehistoric bones in one of the valleys. What he finds scares him almost to death and starts a chain reaction of events that impacts world stability.
In Washington, DC, Ethan Warner and Nicola Lopez work for the Defense Intelligence Agency. They are investigating a group of mysterious people called the Majestic Twelve who are very rich and powerful businessmen. Ethan and Nicola investigate unusual events and places around the world connected to advance technologies and other causes. Now, they are assigned to find out what happened to Doctor Channing whose disappearance may be connected to the workings of the Majestic Twelve.
The investigation of Channing leads Ethan and Nicola around the world searching for clues as to what happened to Channing and what he found that the Majestic Twelve desperately want. Along the way, they uncover the mysterious events that occurred in Brazil in 1996 and what it may mean to the world if not contained.
give this story Four Stars because the story is fast paced and filled with well developed characters, good writing and great detail. The author interweaves many unusual technologies, sightings and scientific discoveries in the story. The book is filled with unexplained events that have mystified mankind for centuries from the disappearance of the dinosaurs to exotic diseases to UFO sightings to aliens crash landing on Earth and other occurrences. Still, I found the book interesting to read and look forward to reading another story by this author.
Keep reading good science fiction and let me know when you find an interesting novel or author.
Once again, Dean Crawford pulled it off, from first page to last, from one side of the world to the other he took his readers on a journey and threaded threw all the events into a nice ending, calling upon characters from the previous books too, what a great book, i hope there is more to come, and i will certainly read if there is. can't wait. hopefully Ethan Warner & Nicola Lopez will return..................
