A sexy new STANDALONE romance from the author who brought you Amazon bestseller Slip of the Tongue.

Andrew Beckwith has already devoted his life to one girl—and as far as he’s concerned, she’s all he needs. The rough-around-the-edges bad boy left his reckless ways behind six years ago when his daughter Bell was born. To the female population’s dismay, he’s unapologetically

This was my first audio book and it proved what I always feared about trying one of these. The voices of the narrators can affect my enjoyment. I like to imagine in my head what the characters look and sound like, hearing the voices of the chosen narrators ended up hindering my enjoyment of the story.

A friend suggested that I speed up the audio which actually did help a bit and I actually ended up turning off the audiobook and reading the las

THE FIRST TASTE is the second novel in the SLIP OF THE TONGUE series and about a different couple so can most definitely be read and enjoyed as a STANDALONE. The first person narrative features Andrew (the brother of the heroine from the first book in the series) and Amelia (the feisty boss of the heroine from book one.) Told from the alternating perspective of the hero and heroine ensuring a front row seat for readers to access th

Every since I read about Andrew in his sister's book, Slip of the Tongue, I was hoping he would get his own book and I was thrilled when I found out he was. Thankfully, I was not disappointed.

Several years ago, Andrew and his girl friend, Shana, got pregnant. She was not happy about it but Andrew could not wait. So it's no surprise that a few years later, Shana takes off - basically in the middle of the night with no note, nothing. Slowly, Andrew adjusts to being a single parent with

This is one unputtadownable read, so many good feels and sexy exciting times ahead when reading this book. Jessica Hawkins is an author I only started to read when Slip of the Tongue came out a few months ago . Because come on these covers are beautiful and I'm a cover whore soooo I just signed up on the spot. Slip of the Tongue made me anxious, and nervous which I loved in a different way , but this one I have to say is her best work to date for me. I could not put it

Overall Opinion: I'm bummed with this one. I had major issues with the h (see below), and I felt like it was slow in some parts to where I felt a little bored. I LOVE single parent stories, so this was right up my alley -- but sadly it ended up just being...meh.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Amelia and Andrew's story. They meet because Andrew's sister, Sadie, works for Amelia and he is in the city dropping off his daughter to spend the weekend with her. After some fun flirting

Yah, I was too! And ladies we got one here!

We met Andrew Beckwith in A Slip of the Tongue. Brother to Sadie, single dad, PERFECT dad, I couldn't wait to see what kind of woman would make him take a break from bring everything his little girl needs 24/7- to take a chance at love when his biggest love walked out of their lives four years ago. Loving and losing, he's busy enough owning an auto

Not as good as Slip of the Tongue, but still an enjoyable read, even if the pace was a little slow.

"He’s a man’s man, macho as I’ve ever known, but every single night, he puts his princess-loving daughter to bed with a fairy-tale."

This book took me by surprise! It's my first read by Jessica Hawkins and I loved every minute of it! The story was so REAL, with real life issues and questions, matured characters but also funny as hell! Absolutely everything was handled very well and the development of the whole story was amazing.

On the outside Andrew looks like a bad boy with

Jessica Hawkins is one of my favorite authors. She has a gift to capture emotions in her writing and suck the reader in her story. With this book, she has once again delivered a captivating, brilliant and true-to-life story of second chance at love.

Amelia Van Ecken and Andrew Beckwith have apparently nothing in common, she is a classy, uptight and fiercely independent businesswoman who doesn’t like kids, he is a tattooed single dad whose life is centered around his six-year-old daughter B

Hot Damn! Andrew Beckwith checks all my boxes, honey! Smart, rugged, manly and loves something fierce! Oh, and those arms…. And let’s not forget he rides a motorcycle and knows his way around engines. I mean… mine was running on all cylinders as soon as I met him. *Wipes sweat off brow*

Now, let’s talk about Amelia Van Ecken. She’s smart, powerful, a die-hard workaholic, and has some serious plans for her life. Or so we think. Her designer clothes and perfect hair make up the outside but what, p

Hard hearts break easy. It’s the soft ones that survive hit after hit.

I took a chance and it most certainly paid off.

One of the best things of being on holiday is that you can read all the books you’d thought you’d never have time for, eleven books later I realise that I can’t get around writing some reviews and The First Taste is one of those books.

I got a tip that this was free, I just read single dad romance and I one clicked it. Colour me effing impressed by Ms. Hawkins writing. My feeds

I fell in love with Jessica’s writing in Slip of the Tongue. I loved reading about her brother Andrew and was beyond ecstatic that we were getting his story!

The main theme throughout the book was how different Amelia and Andrew were. Andrew was this blue-collar auto body shop owner. Amelia own’s her own PR company where Andrew’s sister, Sadie works. I’m not going to lie, I sort of envisioned Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl a bit.

Anywho…after a disastrous first meeting where there was a serious case of

After reading Slip of the Tongue by Jessica Hawkins I knew I had to read more by this author. After looking around, I found out that we were going to get Andrew’s story in The First Taste and I couldn’t wait. I have a soft spot for single dads and Andrew was one of the best I’ve read in a long time.

Andrew is a single dad, raising his daughter, Bell, on his own after his girlfriend, Shana, ran out on them when Bell was only three. Andrew was broken hearted. She left in the middle of the night an

Writing a review for a novel where I really just want to use single word adjectives, like gorgeous, romantic, wonderful is so hard, because all those words should really be convincing enough when you hear Jessica Hawkins has a new novel out.

Andrew Beckwith doesn't want the weekend off, he never wants to be away from his princess Bell, but he knows that at some point she needs to learn to be away from him. Without plans

Single hot dad alert!!

The First Taste features Andrew, a single dad from Slip of the Tongue, one of my favorite books. His story is a standalone, and does NOT feature any forbidden romance. She has been burned by a painful split from her husband, and is going through a very difficult divorce. Amelia and Andrew make is clear from the start they are both only looking for a one-night stand, with no st

Some books are just good. They are well written, you like or at least understand and believe the characters, the situations seem real. And then there are books that you silence your phone because the alert keeps bothering you, books where when your significant other says they may have to work late you tell them it is totally fine (which you NEVER do) because you want to read. And then there is this book...and I don't have words. Go to the m

I could have loved this but apparences are deceiving. The so called independent & feisty heroine, is in fact managing a company owned by her estranged husband and living in his apartment. She happens to screw a selfish & pathetic single father who is hung up on his ex and obsessed with playing daddy.

Both main characters were jaded after relationships gone bad, honestly they had nothing good or pure to offer each other, the author seems to think having created protagonist in their 30s me

“There’s bravery in facing fear when it’s easier to bury it.”

There is something about a single dad that puts his daughter first before life itself that has every woman’s heart melting into a mushy puddle of goo and Jessica Hawkins delivered one such man in the form of Andrew Beckwith. There was nothing I disliked about this man AT ALL. He was perfection. He was the epitome of what every father should strive to be, he made
