The thing about political books is that if you aren't familiar with what they are making fun of, you can't enjoy it. The other thing, is that once the event has happened, we tend to forget what outraged us just a few years, or even a few months ago, because something else has come up to outrage us.

If you are familiar with Tom Tomorrow, then you will probably want this collection. If you are not familiar with Tom Tomorrow, then here a few strips from the collection, which covers 2014-2016 (well p

I have never been exposed to Tom Tomorrow’s work prior to this and a little sad that I am just now discovering his work. Tomorrow’s commentary on our political landscape from 2014-2016 is so on point. Well if you are a moderate or democrat you will think that; conservatives will likely have a different opinion.

The one thing I struggled with was feeling the same level of outrage around certain events as I did when they happened. A little bit of time will do that I guess. The scary thing is reali

"Tom Tomorrow" does political cartoons with a strong point of view, a keen sense of outrage, and a dark sense of humor.

He has been doing them for over 25 years.

At this point, if you are familiar with his work, you will know whether you like it or whether you don't.

I like it.

Received from the publisher for an honest review. A collection of comic strips from 2014-2016 by Tom Tomorrow. The graphics were eye catching and colourful. The topics were mostly political in nature and did some good poking at the different political stimulations within the US. The collection was ok but wasn't of interest to me but if you are a fan of Tom Tomorrow, you would like this collection.

Very, very political and not for the faint of heart. It was even a bit extreme for me and I'm extreme. I'd tone this book down a lot.

'Crazy Is The New Normal' by Tom Tomorrow is a collection of recent strips from 2014 into part of 2016. They inclde lots about the recent US Presidential campaigns.

I'm familiar with Tom Tomorrow and I read his comic if I run across it. I don't fully agree with his politics, but I find his humor worthwhile. It is definitely more left-leaning, so if you can't find lots of comics about Donald Trump and pro-gun politics funny, then you probably want to keep moving. There are rednecks and right wing

I have always enjoyed Tom Tomorrow's work when I have found it, usually hidden away in indie newspapers and local rags. However I found that reading an entire book of his comics, one after another, was a little too much to take. I say this with the full awareness that the politics climate in the time frame this book covers was pretty dire, but his comics have an extremely negative tone that just gets to be too much after a while. I think it's one of those cases where the medium dictates the mess ...more

I read Tom Tomorrow whenever he is in the paper or when a cartoon is posted on Daily Kos and other websites. I really enjoy his politics and humor and how they mesh together with a perfect blend of zaniness and seriousness. That's why I was surprised when I quickly became fairly bored reading Crazy is the New Normal. It was too repetitive and nothing really surprised me or made me laugh. I am assuming it was just too big a dose at one time, and for me, and I found myself starting to skim the boo ...more

Caustic, humorous, this compilation is food for thought. Whether the book is read all in one sitting, gulped as it were, or slowly savored. It would be a great conversation starter. Or depending on one's orientation, conversation ender.

Once again hilarious, outrage-provoking and timely. Interested to see how he goes forward now that it is clear how many people see government as the problem & trump as the solution. He was amazing during W.'s 2 terms, so I am hopeful.

well written, amusing satire - just sad current events. not the author's fault!

Hilarious! Then again, what else would you expect from Tomorrow?

This was published right before the election of the idiot, so the experience of reading this book now is a bit macabre.

Akin to Doonesbury in it's
heyday, this book takes a not to
serious look at the serious
problems of today.

This book is depressing. The two years of collected This Modern World strips just highlights the general decline of political discourse over the past few years, especially with the rise of Trump. This is definitely written for the Left Wing; although it has some criticism of Hilary and Obama, conservatives and republicans are the more common targets. Some of it is funny on its own, some of it is funny in an ironic sort of way (what we know now versus what he knew when the strips were written), a ...more

In the interest of full disclosure, I must admit that I am a longtime fan of Tom Tomorrow's work. I let my subscription to The Nation lapse several years ago, and this new compilation has made me realize how much I miss Sparky and friends.

"Crazy is the New Normal" is a perfect title for this election cycle. The strips in this book are from 2014 to present day. The illustrations are in full color, which is great for the panes featuring Donald Trump; I love the raccoon/tanning booth eyes!

I received a promotional copy of this book via Netgalley. I'm a longtime fan of Tom Tomorrow-I used to read his columns online circo 2003. I liked this book: like all of his work, it hits smartly upon things like drones and political commentators. Would recommend.

Very enjoyable but I've been a fan of This Modern World for years. Spot on satire of our demented world for these strips. I love the aliens.

I laughed out loud more than once as well as using my current favorite epithet, as applied to today's world and behaviors "fucking idiots".

Simplistic in creation and politics – and just look at that word count!! Gave up on this incredibly fast. Rubbish.

Another solid collection from the artist, with some slips into predictability but overall a sharp and snappy collection of absurd satire.
