This little book is authored by Belle, a rescue dog who is now a therapy dog. She loves her human very much and likes to train her person to establish better dog-human communication and relationships. It was an entertaining, quick read covering dog basics such as face licking, rolling in dirt, chewing, the art of showing remorse and the pain of being left alone etc.
It would be quite a nice present for anybody who is considering becoming a dog owner for the first time. But if you have any experie

In a word, this book is delightful. Of course it is (supposedly) written by Belle, a Dog, and translated from dog language by Terry Kaye, who is (supposedly) a Human. This is, of course, preposterous. Utter nonsense. Complete folderol. It is obvious that Terry Kaye edited this book, as well as translated.
That being said, Belle is one perceptive pooch. She explains away a great many mysteries that we lowly “peoples” don’t seem to be able to grasp about our canine companions, while at the same ti

This is a book written in the pov of the dog. While some parts were cute, having known many dogs in my life there was just nothing there for me. It maybe would be a cute intro to someone who has never known a dog...
2-1/2 stars- even though it feels a little mean of me.

From the very beginning, Belle’s story made me smile. As I was growing up, we always had a dog. When you’re young, they can be the best entertainment and the most loyal. Often times I wondered what the heck Bud, Murfee, Zeek and Zara were thinking. Especially the time Murfee decided to eat our leather couch. Oh man, I’ll never forget the yelling that went on that day. Of course, Murfee just gave us all those sad eyes that seemed to be saying, “What? You left me alone all day. What do you expect ...more

This is a cute book that would make a great gift for dog lovers everywhere. It is also a good gift or purchase for a new dog owner or soon-to-be owner. The book, written by the dog, Belle, and translated by the author, is short and covers many of the things we “people” often wonder about or often do not pick up about dogs. However, the information presented is very basic, and definitely not earth-shattering. I enjoyed reading a book “written” by a dog. This format shows some idea of the author’s ...more

This book is different as it is written by a dog, Belle. Her human acts as translator from dog speak to English and added some footnotes. I liked the idea of the point of view of Belle, it was quite cute and some parts were laugh out loud funny. It covers many of the things we “people” often wonder about or often do not pick up about dogs. Belle shares doggie secrets such as punishing their humans, faking remorse or ignorance, showing off their smarts at just the proper time and licking/sniffing ...more

Thank you to NetGalley and Mill City Press. Inc for a free digital copy of this book.

This book is quite unique as it is written by Belle, a dog, her human acts as translator from doggish to english and added a few notes while doing the translation work.

Belle tells us some secrets about the world from the eyes of a dog. Dreaded alone time, refined face licking technique, the art of mud bathing or (fake if need be) remorse after acts that went unappreciated by the human are her topics.

This fun, lighthearted book will keep you turning the pages long into the night. Though this book is not long, it does pack some valid and important information. I do love the way that the author chose to write the book. I rather enjoyed reading everything as if Belle was sitting down with me and my dog and having an actual conversation. Not only are the pages full of useful information for dog owners or for those who are possibly thinking about getting a dog, but it is hilarious! I find that th ...more

I recieved this book free through goodreads giveaways.
This book was a quick, fun read about a rescued dog and her perspective on a dog's life and human-dog interactions. I really did enjoy reading this book. it was different, it was intresting, and parts made me laugh. I wish this book came out when I was 13 and just got my first dog. I know if I had this book then I would be obsessed with it. It would be a great gift for anyone who just got a dog, whether their first dog or not.

Dog Only Knows was not as good as I had hoped it would be. I feel the synopsis held a lot more potential than the actual book delivered. It didn't really hold my interest.

Interesting book written by a dog and translate so humans can understand. Great way of looking at what dogs know, what they don't and how we can bridge that gap.
