I really hope this book was written with the goal of being satirical. While there are some humorous gems in here, the author's clear bias against the concept of marriage (while I agree that it is by no means a requirement for fulfillment in life, she outright calls it a "gross mistake" for women to make) and men in general, leaves the otherwise interesting statistics gathered by the author lacking credibility.
This book is full of broad generalizations and evenly distributed sexism toward all parties. Lured in by the promise of science and history, I was excited to start this book. I read this at a rapid pace due to my building irritation at the accusations of the author as she berated men, fidelity and any sort of emotional attachment even resembling love, at every turn, vacillating between humor and apparent loathing.
The worst part about this for me is that it IS well written. The author is clearly very intelligent, and she shares plenty of valid, well-researched points. But the shadow of her evident personal bitterness taints everything she has achieved here.

Author Oma Gadish’s Beast of Prey: The Hard Truth About Men is written with obvious knowledge on the subject. But what most struck me is that she most likely has a great deal of personal realization. This is based on the humorous anecdotes, which made me laugh often. What this book offers is an intelligent examination of what makes the opposite sex do the things they do. All the laughs are just the icing on the cake. I recommend this book on the days when you want to step away from the fiction isle.

In the past, men were recognized for their intellectual skills and often became scientists, inventors, philosophers, writers and engineers, while women were relegated to the province of the home and raising a family. Thankfully, this is no longer the case.
How we deal with this evolution is the source of some debate. By their very nature, men may be hard-wired for the hunt. Women, on the other hand, not only embrace their more tender emotions, but are also sharp assessors and predictors of relationship success. This book is a well-written treatise which challenges the reader to assess his/her own relationships. Beasts of Prey and its successor, The Power of the Blonde: Cracking Down on Men’s Control, offer a new and refreshingly feministic point of view.

I read first this sensational book, next downloaded her second one in a series, The Power of the Blonde: Cracking Down on Men's Control. These two are phenomenal and refreshing and must be read in succession.

Very good book
This is an extremely well written book that delivers a very interesting analysis. It is one of those books that you keep on your shelf and read from time to time. Orna Gadish obviously knows a thing or two about relationships. Recommended!

A gem of a book that you owe to yourself, no matter if you consider yourself a feminist or not. This book and it's follow up, THE POWER OF THE BLONDE: CRACKING DOWN ON MEN'S CONTROL must be read one after the other! Subtle humor and powerful thesis.

Reading the title of the book it came to my mind that this is going to be about bashing men. But in this case, going into great detail. One quote of the book I thought was very interesting was, "Love is a man-kind invention." Love is something that can spark between two people. Understandably like it goes into at the end of the book that both men and women are sexual creatures deserving to engage in one another. Sex is something that happens. The novel was well-formatted and easy to follow. The reason I gave this book a 4 out of five stars was how I got lost in a few parts because of the statistics. But in a nutshell, I can agree that men are cold-hearted sometimes and they do not even know it. Sometimes they need help in seeing it. Bravo to the writing, and making it sound interesting that I wanted to continue all the way to the end.

What...the...heck.... seriously is this for real? This book reads like it's author is an angry 20 year old girl raised in the 60s who has had boy troubles all her life. Yes, men are biologically created to mate with as many women as possible. Yes women are sexually objectified, yes women should be independent financially and emotionally before getting involved with a man (or woman), however, the author vilifies men in her book, thereby making women victims. I have sons and daughters I need to educate and this is NOT the book to do it with. Both women and men are just beginning to understand their biological selves and their place in humanity. Male and female children must be taught from birth their uniqueness and learn to respect each other, how to work together, and love each other. This they learn from example and through trial and error throughout life.
I am all for the hardcore truth and found the title of book aptly put from a biological standpoint. I love men, some I trust some I don't. One fathered my children then broke my heart. Throughout my life, I have found in all men their need to be loved.
I picked up this book in the hopes of gaining insight on the mind of a man, and all I got was a rant from a woman.
