Going for Gold was one of my first romantic comedy reads as well as my first sports romance. It is a super hot read with plenty of action! There is a major scene in the book toward the end that is pretty "out there" so you have to allow yourself to not take it too seriously, as it is not typical for "real life." I had a bit of a hard time with that, but I just went with it reminding myself that even in romantic comedy movies, outlandish shit happens and that's ok :) I also loved that a certain p ...more

This book started out great. I was enjoying it until about 50% and then everything started going down hill from there. The story kept changing and going all over the place. I understand that there's a lot of leeway with non-fiction. It's just that this story went outside the possible and into the absurd and it lost me. I would've not finished it but I was already 60+% in.

If the story hadn't changed plot midway and gone in one crazy turn after another, this book would've been a solid 4.

New romance that takes a wrong turn after dinner and then a nosedive after the pants-off-dance-off. If the plot holes don’t do you in then the fantastical conflict will. The cookie cutter villain, the convenient coincidences, not to mention the self degradation of the lead female character are so far fetched as to make the sweet moments between Alina and Bryce moot. If you can believe in the unbelievable and ridiculous than you might stomach this one.

This is a very good book! I like how some of the characters are tied to the hunted series!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Going for Gold is a sexy, crazy story from Ivy Smoak. This time though, it's a sports themed story, set at the International Tournament of Athletes (similar to the Olympics) in Brazil. It stars Alina, a competitor on the women's volleyball team, and Bryce, a competitor on the track team. Alina is dating another athlete at the games, Chris, but things aren't going well between them because Chris is a grade a d-bag. She ends up breaking up with hi

Going for Gold by Ivy Smoak is a quirky read with an "Olympic" like athletic competition happening in Brazil, some mystery and mayhem taking place, and some really sexually frustrated athletes.

This book was interesting but I felt it went on a bit too long - there was so much detail and it was well written but I felt it kept pulling me away from the meat of the story. It was light on the sexy time... UNTIL IT WASN'T... oh boy, I don't think I've ever read a multiple sex scene with that many multi

Ivy Smoak always delivers fun and sexy reads and Going for Gold is another in a growing list of fabulous books by her. It's the kind of story that you need to suspend belief in order to enjoy since the story is pretty outrageous but it is one that is deliciously enjoyable. It's sexy and super smutty with a bit of drama and suspense thrown in for good measure. The characters were well developed and had great chemistry with one another. The culminatio

This book started out ok, but from the performance to the end sort of made it go downhill for me. In the beginning I loved and respected that Alina was a strong woman with priorities. She handles the sit with Chris and Gabriela great! Even Bryce was swoony! But once the performance came around.. Even the toned down version..she pretty much turned into her arch nemesis. Somewhere I heard a toilet flush..down the drain. Regardless of whose fault in planning etc her decisions were still hers (kudos ...more
This story was a disgrace. Don't be fooled by the description, this book was more porn than anything. The story started off great and it seemed that it would be a cute story about two athletes falling in love... it turned into the girl getting tricked into a gangbang done in public and broadcast on live TV. That isn't what was advertised, this isn't erotica, it was disgusting and a disgrace to athletes everywhere.

If I'm being honest, this story went downhill almost from the get go, with the froz

Whew! It's smutastic! Holy friggin hotness, Ms. Smoak! This should have a "not for public consumption" warning on it it's that hot.
When I wasn't needing a panty change, I was laughing, swooning, and biting my nails. Hell, I even cried a bit when things were looking dismal. It had a little bit of everything that draws me in and keeps me reading. It even mentioned my favorite professor (hehe).
I'm looking forward to reading some more smutty goodness from Ivy. Wondering if we'

Wow this book will make your panties melt right off . Alina is this sweet, innocent girl that only has one thing on her mind and that is winning the gold so she can get her dream. Byrce is the one guy that alina would never think she would want or even have a chance at. When these two run into each other the sparks aren't the only thing fliging. This book has a lot of adventure, drama and mind blowing romance this not the first book I've read of ivy smoak and I c

Wow! Just wow!

When I started this book, I figured it would be a safe romance between athletes. Boy was I wrong! This is a great book, characters where great! Story line was great, with a little bit of a surprise during the tie breaker scene. My goodness, I couldn't stop reading! Great book if you like lots of sex!

What the heck did I just read

The beginning and middle were awesome I loved Alina not forgiving Chris for his deception and her relationship with Bryce . But near the end performance the book took a sharp sharp turn from a sweet Alina to a disaster of legitimate serious porn. Where there was no forgiveness fir Chris, Alina took another step times 8 and found happily ever after.

Loved it

From beginning to end this story kept me wanting more. I loved the characters and their backgrounds. Personal struggles, mixed with being athletes and add a sex ban.

Good read, but the final performance kind of ruined the book for me. Way too much for me, some people may like it, but it really turned me off.

This one started out pretty good and had a great idea, but it didn't fully execute in my opinion. It took some weird turns. Overall, it was very disappointing.

This is a Goodreads win review. This is a good read about The International Tournament of Athletes and winning gold. It gets a little smutty for my taste.
