I like that this is two stories that merge together. You get the Mother Fox perspective on finding her cub and you flip the book upside (so the back cover becomes the front cover) the cub part of the book is how he lost his mom. I like the pictures, but it was way to wordy and I couldn't get into! I like the merged story concept..very unique!!

Although there have to be others this is the first time I've come across a book like this. I actually thought someone in my library had re-stuck the middle page wrong and almost took it up to the desk. Then we saw that the "back" cover was really an alternate "front" cover.
So, here you have two stories in one. The only problem I can really see is that the stories have no ending. Literally.
If you start on 'The Cub's Adventure' (as we did) you go through Little Fox getting intrigued by a butterfly and venturing too far from home. I'm sure most people can guess that he has an exciting time until he realizes he's lost his way.
Then you flip the book over to begin 'On the Trail of Little Fox' and you read through Little Fox's Mother waking up to find her baby gone. Mother Fox goes through the motions, hunts down her missing baby and.... then you get to the part where the fine print says "But how did Little Fox get lost?"
One could get lost in it. The last line of what I'll call the first story is "Mother!" and the second, "Little Fox!" so there is an ending, however different.
These differences are what made the book a little better than it normally would have been. Beyond this there's nothing new going on, the text is particularly exciting, and the illustrations are about so-so.
