Halfway through reading Prevention Diaries, I received an email from Our Revolution, the progressive coalition led by Bernie Sanders, and the author was none other than Larry Cohen. Regardless of the email's subject line, the association immediately struck me as obvious.

I use this book as the text book for my intro to community health undergrad course. My students are in the exercise science program at their school, and I find this book to be much more compelling to get them talking about issues of health equity and determinants of health than traditional texts that’s emphasize theories of behavior change. One student said, “it takes me forever to read a chapter because I’m always yelling out to my roommate, ‘listen to this...!’”

Really, this book is a good read for anyone who is interested in social change-- there are so many factors affecting public health that one can do many things ...more

An engaging, informative read for health practitioners and students with prose from the heart. A great gift for friends and family of those who work on the front lines of public health.
