Learning about things in our world is hard for younger children. But with an easy picture book like this one they can learn about all sorts of famous buildings and places. This teaches kids about things all over and in different places that’s why I like this book so much.

This book looks great if you flick through it with its colourful layout. The sort of book you’d buy for a nephew when you didn’t know what to get him. However read the book and it’s not nearly as good as it looks. The layout is confusing. There’s nothing separating pages on specific buildings from pages on general architecture. The maps are overcrowded and hard to read. What looks like a timeline along the bottom of the book is actually a timeline for each building so you go back in time in places. Most damming of all though is that for a book of architecture you often don’t get a good idea of what the building looks like. It’s illustrated with drawings which are often to sketchy or to small.
