Do you feel tired all the time? Do you have to have coffee, cola, or alcohol to get you through the day? Are you forgetful, indecisive, irritable? Do you suffer from insomnia, depression, headaches, trembling, drowsiness, crying spells, cold sweats, mental confusion, anxiety, dizziness, indigestion, allergies, obesity, craving for sweets, lack of sexual energy? You may be suffering from HYPOGLYCEMIA, one of the world's most frequently misdiagnosed diseases. Dr. Paavo Airola explains in this book what hypoglycemia is, how to know whether you have it, and how a simple, common-sense approach can completely eliminate symptoms of this "hidden" disease.
I found this book very helpful in trying to understand hypoglycemia. He states that just you can't just go by the test results because everyone reacts differently. It was written in the 1970's but the information is still pertinent. I am reading a couple of books about hypoglycemia and am getting good information out of each book to help me with controlling my blood sugar.
I like his good sense, back to the basics approach to sugar. The recipes and menus are very helpful. They were what I needed to find my way into a healthy sugar zone.
Personal experience; The diet works great for good health and weight management. I found that I was getting bitter around my favorite sweet dishes. So, when I faced my next STRESSFUL time and the sugar related symptoms began to creep back (1yr mark) I succumbed to temptation and am back on the sugar road. I must add that I no longer suffer from the same "sugar" related symptoms as before.
A PASSION FOR FOOD: Foods take on a new and VIBRANT FLAVOR without sugar in your diet. It allows the development of a new appreciation for our foods.
I read the review about the protein (on Amazon). I do think more protien is needed during times of stress.
A word of caution. While discovering all the wonderful grains alluded to in this book, remember to be gentle to your digestive system. The whole grain wheat and extra gluten really wreaked havic on my digestive track and increased my IBS symptoms (for years). Chewing a piece of raw cabbage very fine will help with these symptoms.
It is also important to thoroughly research all supplements and check with your doctor before adding them to your diet.
