A Bravo for Christmas by Christine Rimmer is a 2016 Harlequin Special Edition publication.

A Christmas dare?

Darius Bravo, a popular football player in high school, was always asking Ava out, but the responsible, sensible, and cautious Ava always declined.

Now, Ava is widowed with a young daughter, Sylvia, to think of, but her attraction never fully waned. In fact, he’s played a starring role in her fantasies for a while. But, with the holidays approaching, Ava’s loneliness is stronger than usual, prompting her to suggest a holiday fling that would only last until New Years.

Darius plays along, but refuses to allow Ava to focus only on the physical contact she’s seeking. He sets a slower pace, forces Ava to get to know him better, spend time with him, and even reaches out to Sylvia too, in hopes of convincing Ava to give their relationship a chance.

Can Darius win Ava over by Christmas?

Darius is a terrific guy, and I loved how good he was with Sylvia and how hard he worked to win Ava's heart.

Ava is a little complicated and I wasn’t sure how to feel about her family. I understood, but then again, I struggled with it, too, the same way Ava did.

Thankfully, Ava finds peace and healing and her feelings for Darius was a catalyst for that, I think.

So, despite their relationship starting out based solely on a physical attraction, it deepens into something much more and gives everyone involved a chance for a wonderful Christmas and a happily ever after.

If you are looking for a sweet, but sexy, story with just the right amount of holiday feels, look no further.

A Bravo for Christmas is the sixth book in Christine Rimmer’s The Bravos of Justice Creek series. This was such a touching, heartwarming holiday story. I really enjoyed watching Ava come to grips with her past and learn how to trust again. It was hard for her to give her heart to someone again especially after losing her husband in the war and experiencing a horrible attack when she was young, living in foster care.

I absolutely loved Darius’ never give-up philosophy. It was touching watching him interact with Sylvie, Ava’s daughter, and her Blueberry friends. They had such a special relationship that only grew throughout the story.

If you love reading holiday romances, A Bravo for Christmas is one story you shouldn’t pass up! It warmed my heart watching Ava slowly lose her defenses to Darius. I highly recommend A Bravo for Christmas and all of the books in Ms. Rimmer’s series: The Bravos of Justice Creek. I’d like to disclose I voluntarily read and reviewed A Bravo for Christmas and this is my fair and honest review.

A return to the series, the Bravos of Justice Creek, with Darius and Ava as the featured Christmas romance. Ava has returned as a widow with a young daughter. Darius has been waiting for years. As his flirting intensifies Ava calls his bluff. A nice holiday romance that has smiles in every chapter. A little predictable but Ms.Rimmer pens a true Christmas love story.

I really enjoyed this story. Ava is a complex person with insecurities stemming from her childhood. She makes a deal with Darius and he decides he doesn't like her terms so he sets out to change her mind. Add an adorable 7yr old little girl and magic happens.

A Bravo for Christmas (Bravos of Justice Creek #6) by Christine Rimmer
• Yes
Although this is book six within the Bravos of Justice Creek series, it's still its own standalone Christmas romance HEA. It's exciting to know there are more books to read about other Bravo family members. This is my first Christine Rimmer book and she's spun an exciting story about two high school students who finally get their chance.... How does it work for Darius and Ava? You'll have to read A Bravo for Christmas to find out. But it's definitely worth the time... Just snuggle under a blanket and enjoy this Christmas story. Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older! ARC received from Netgalley for an honest voluntary review.

Always enjoy Christine Rimmer's Bravo series!
A Bravo for Christmas is no exception. Dare and Ava are awesome characters, Ava's spunky daughter is sweet and very in tune with what love means. Loved the Blueberry Troop scenes, just precious. Ava was pretty set on the "fling", but it was nice to see both of them come around to the love that was there.

The story of a young woman afraid to let her guard down. Afraid to trust. Afraid to love. For fear of being hurt again. The story of a young man with a second chance to be with the one woman he always wanted. The one that got away. From Christmas fling to true love. Another amazing love story by Christine Rimmer.

Very good holiday story. Ava and Darius have known each other since high school. Back then, Darius was the big man on campus, known for charming all the girls. He used to flirt with Ava, and ask her to go out. Thanks to things that happened when she was younger, Ava has made her plans for the future and she refuses to let Darius distract her and turns him down flat. After school they go their separate ways, both leaving Justice Creek, until life calls them back home. Darius is CEO of his father's metalworking business and Ava is a successful real estate agent and widowed mother of a little girl.

Ava is a loving mother to Sylvie, who is the center of her life. She's quite content with her life most of the time, but as the holidays approach, admits that she can get a bit lonely. She makes the decision to pursue a holiday fling with the man who still attracts her after all these years.

Darius is still known as quite a flirt who hasn't settled down with anyone after all these years. He's also highly involved in his community, including with the local Blueberry troop, one of who is Ava's daughter Sylvie (I loved the opening scene where they had been "decorating" him). He's still drawn to Ava, and never passes up an opportunity to flirt with her.

Darius is stunned at Ava's request for a holiday affair. She has rules for it, such as nobody can know that they're together, emotional entanglement is forbidden, and it ends with the new year. He agrees to her rules, but has no intention of keeping them.

I loved the development of their relationship. Though Ava is all for jumping right into the fling, Darius is determined to slow things down and force them to get to know each other before they get intimate. He has a little bit of an "in" because thanks to his involvement with Sylvie's troop, he can find multiple reasons for all three of them to get together. Ava is wary because, thanks to events in her childhood, she has control and trust issues. She worries that if she lets him get too close Sylvie will be hurt. She also doesn't want to risk her heart after the pain of losing her husband. I loved Darius' patience and sensitivity as he slowly began to chip away at Ava's walls. I especially loved the scene where she opened up about her childhood. His reactions were just what she needed. Ava could feel herself falling for him and fought it all the way. I admit to sometimes being irritated with her attitude about taking Sylvie to visit him and some of her other rules. Things came to a head when Darius pushed a little too hard and Ava panicked. I loved the part that little Sylvie had in bringing them back together.

It was interesting to see the differences between Ava's and Darius' families. You could see that the love was there in Ava's, but there was a lot of tension too. Her mother's intense matchmaking efforts is one of the things that drove Ava's desire to keep her relationship with Darius a secret. Her brothers were protective, but I didn't get the feeling they were particularly supportive of her. Tom especially bugged me at the beginning, but redeemed himself at the end. On the other hand, the Bravo family was great. Though they'd had their problems in the past, they are now there for each other. When tragedy affects their sister Jody, I loved seeing how they gathered around her, helping without smothering.

My Review Of "A Bravo For Christmas"

Darius and Ava lead a cast of diverse and strong characters. Ava shows her devotion to her daughter but also her loneliness. Darius seems to have everything he has ever desired, but Ava. Christine Rimmer's "A Bravo For Christmas" is a delightful story of Ava Mallory and Darius Bravo. Darius has a history of asking Ava out since high school. Unfortunately, it has been Ava's habit to turn Darius down even though she is extremely attracted to Darius. Unbeknownst to Darius, he has been the leading man in Ava's fantasies for the past two years. Tired of dealing with her physical needs alone, Ava jokingly suggests that she and Darius become friends with benefits until the new year arrives. Ava doesn't want anyone to know about their rendezvous. One thing she didn't count on was Darius changing the rules.

Here are some of the things I like about Ava. She is a loving, caring and nurturing mother to her daughter Sylvie. She wants to protect her daughter from getting to attached to Darius. Due to some incidents in her past, she has been left with control and trust issues. Ava is scared of letting anyone emotionally close to her again since the death of her spouse. She doesn't want to fall in love or risk being hurt again. This is why she thinks the friends with benefits relationship with Darius will work. What she wasn't expecting was Darius to woo her with horseback rides, flowers and trying to get to know her instead of hitting it and forgetting it.

Some of the things I liked about Darius are that he is comfortable around Ava's little girl, Sylvie. He interacts with her well and in the long run it pays off. I also like that even though he accepted Ava's friend's with benefits idea. Darius didn't completely let her call the shots. He made her wait to get to know him better before engaging into intimate relationship.

Like most parents, Ava's mother is constantly trying to set Ava up on dates. In fact, that is one of the reason's Ava wants to keep her relationship with Darius on the down low. She knows her mother will make a huge deal out of it, Darius doesn't play by the rules. He asks her out. He buys her flowers. He romances her. Darius is going to make it impossible for Ava to forget when their relationship is supposed to come to an end.
Is it really just two friends burning off sexual energy together or has it developed in to something deeper. One thing is for certain Ava has to come to terms with her trust issues before coming full circle and realizing that Darius has the best intentions toward Ava and Sylvie.
Christine Rimmer has taken a modern approach of a couple trying to work each other out of the other's system and turned it into a breathtakingly romantic love story. I highly recommend " A Bravo for Christmas " to anyone who is looking for a book that hits all essential parts of a awesome book. It has humor, laughter, love, passion and a cute kid.

Christine Rimmer is one of my favorite authors for the Special Edition line. I like her writing because she brings a touch of reality to her stories and writes heroes that you absolutely fall for.

Darius is truly a guy that anyone would want to love. He's good looking and good with kids and really just downright perfect. He may have had a bit of a womanizing past, but there's nothing bad about this guy. He's 100 % lovable. In fact, I'd take him if he were a real, flesh and blood male.

Ava is a woman who doesn't really want a relationship. Her husband died in Afghanistan and she's had a past that made her weary of giving love another chance.

Ava and Darius have a shared past. Darius had feelings for her back in their school days, but Ava shut him down. He still has feelings for her.

If this story focused more on Darius and Ava and even better Sylvie (because Ava's daughter is an awesome character. The backstory is a bit of a detriment to the overall story.

I'm not sure what I had the hardest time dealing with. Ava's problem with her parents, who have lived on love for a long time. When Ava was young her mother was ill and family life fell apart and her and her siblings were sent to foster care.

I didn't like this..for one, not once in the discussion of her mother's illness did they mention what it was, but it was obviously something so bad that her father was so worried about her that he couldn't hold down a job.

Oh and since when does being broke put kids in foster care. If that were the case there would be a lot of kids in foster care.

These are the things that put me off. If you are going to make something a huge part of a person's history it needed to be more developed.

The other thing that bugged me was when Sylvie got hurt. She would not have had those stitches if her mother wasn't there to authorize treatment. Heck they can't give a kid Tylenol at school without authorization.

Its little things like this that get on my nerves in books. They are things that either need more developing or tweaked.

I liked the premise of the Christmas fling and I liked how it was turning into more. It was really the back story of Ava's that kept this from being a fabulous read.

This story got to my heart with the chance Ava finally dared to take with Darius and love, with the absolutely adorable connection Darius and Sylvie had, and with the help of Darius gave to the Blueberries. Oh, he is a swoon worthy hero, indeed.
If you follow my reviews you know I am a fan of Christmas stories, especially if there's a message in them. Ava's journey from her childhood battles to the hard times with the family, to not daring to take a chance with Darius when they were in high school, and then later losing her husband, it was so much tragedy to put on one woman's shoulders. But she carried it with tremendous courage and style, never giving up for a minute. And yes, that came off as little stiff and unflexible, maybe even controlling at times, but with good reason when looking at her past.
Darius didn't let all his charm get to him, he was generous, kind, caring man, making time to the kids in the community, and being adored by them was a testimony to his character no matter what anyone else said.
Taking that one step over from a fun fling, and getting the feelings involved, letting the emotions to grow root was where the wall came up with Ava. The battle she had was palpable, the fears tangible and real. Sylvie's reaction to Ava's battle was heartbreaking, her love for Darius so fierce and loyal. There was just enough drama and angst to make the point, yet not to wallow in it. The story acknowledges the difficulties some might face and respects the roadblocks during the journey of life, yet encourages to be brave and take the chances in life, love, and living to the fullest whenever you get the chance.
Lots of extended families, the joy of children at the Christmas time, living, loving, losing loved ones, facing the life head... this was truly a story that put a smile on my face and got my emotions involved, made me want to decorate my Christmas tree, and celebrate the jubilant yuletide with loved ones

I've enjoyed the Bravo series by Christine Rimmer for quite a while now. I'm STILL enjoying the series!

Ava and Darius went to high school together and Darius was attracted to her at that time. Ava however, was cautious and turned him down. She was sure it was the right thing to do...then...but now that they've both ended up back in their home town...she's not so sure. Darius has never really gotten over Ava, so when she proposes a 'friends with benefits' lifestyle between Thanksgiving and the New Year, he's right there...or maybe not.

Ava's daughter Sylvie is enamored with Dare, and since he helps with her 'Blueberry' troop, she gets to see him often. How will Sylvie take Dare and Ava dating? Can they all remain friends when the benefits part of the relationship is over? How will AVA be able to remain just a friend with a man she's becoming closer too, and will Dare be able to let her go?

Ms. Rimmer weaves some of her prior heros and heroines into this book to give those of us who are wondering about them, a glimpse of the total Bravo family. I really like catching up with the people we grew to love in her other books in this series. A wonderful new window into the lives of this branch of the Bravo family, and especially into the lives of Ava and Dare!

I'm always pleased to see authors tackle some of the messier aspects of family life...illness, foster care, bullying, and sexual coercion, are all real psychological issues and need to be bought out into the light of day. Ava's life was touched by these, and she has difficulty accepting love because of it.

Christine Rimmer adds another wonderful romance to her Bravo series with A Bravo for Christmas. I just love rekindled romance with long, lost, high school sweethearts! Darius Bravo once had a high school crush on lovely Ava Janko but she resisted the hottest boy in school. Now, she is back and once again faced with the hot temptation of Darius Bravo.
Ava is back in town tempting Darius again. Unfortunately, Ava is recovering from the loss of her husband and afraid to risk her heart again on love but this doesn't stop her from wanting Darius. Ava longs for a holiday romance.
Rimmer creates a delicious romance between Darius and Ava. A Bravo for Christmas is both a steamy romance and a heartwarming Christmas story. You will love hot hunk Darius who is not just sexy but a sweet, caring man who also loves Ava's adorable daughter, Sylvie. You will be cheering Ava on as she risks her heart for a second chance at love with Darius. You will long for a Darius of your own!
I can't get enough of Christine Rimmer's delicious romances and am always anxious to read her latest Bravo romance! You will love A Bravo for Christmas! Rimmer creates both a sexy romance and a heartwarming Christmas story. A must read for the season!

Ava isn't looking for anything serious when she and Darius decided to have a holiday fling. Thing is their connection isn't easy to keep a secret and Ava has a daughter to think of.

I liked this book it was sweet to read perfect for the holidays. I enjoyed the characters and how Darius interacted with Ava's daughter. I loved the bit of drama / conflict that Ava was dealing with. I mean she didn't want anything serious with Darius, but the more time speat with many steamy times its hard not to want him.One thing I can't say this books is truly unique, I've read many other versions of a book like this and I can't seem to get enough of it anyways.

Another great read from Christine Rimmer. Always love her books adding to the Bravo Family stories. Ava and Darius met in high school but didn't really become friends until they moved back to Justice Creek after living away for a few years. As a single mom, Ava does not want to become involved with anyone because she fears she or her young daughter, Sylvie would be hurt. But she does let Darius know she would have a secret holiday fling. Really enjoyed the wordplay between them. I received this book as part of the review crew, but would have purchased anyway since I've been reading Christine's books for years.

Christmas books should be a fast read, have great characters, be family oriented, and a happy ever after. This book has all of that and a lot more. I think my new all time favorite lines may be from this book as I literally spit out my tea I was drinking when I read it and then re-read it to make sure I read it right the first time and followed the reading with a gut wrenching laugh making my dogs even jump up on my bed wanting to get in on the fun. I really am enjoying this whole Bravo series and there are a lot of them. Go get it for a great Christmas read.

Miniseries: The Bravos of Justice Creek

A holiday fling? I understand Ava was scared of getting hurt again but what made her think she was wired for a fling. Luckily, Darius was smart enough not to point this out to her. He definitely was smart with taking things slow and building her (and the readers) anticipation. Also, completely adorable as Blueberry King! Great emotional read. ~ Kim

This was a delightful Christmas read. Ava and Darius have known each other since high school. Due to Ava's upbringing she set early goals for what she wanted out of life, so she steered clear of popular, handsome Darius. Now years later in her loneliness, she makes a deal with Darius for a fling. Darius accepts her terms to begin with and sets out to win her heart. Despite this being a 6th book in a series, I was able to follow along and fall in love with these characters.

I have always enjoyed Christine Rimmers books and this is no exception.
Ava and Darius, have been so drawn to each other since high school. Will they get together? Will Ava finally give in to her desires. They both moved away from their hometown and went on with their lives apart. See if they will become what they need for each other in the future. Or will it be a holiday fling.
