A MATCH FOR LADY VERITY by Mona Gedney **

Lady Verity Devlin had an unhappily arranged marriage that produced two sons; one was shallow, the other was strong. Mayfield, someone she met when she was young, was after her now that her husband had passed away. We know there is more to this story but it was too short. This romance needed more depth and would have been better if it was longer and on its own.

THE LADY DOES NOT! by Cindy Holbrook ***1/2

Rosaland Tremont had her hands full with two brothers, three cousins and a menagerie of animals. Her grandmother, widowed three times, lived on the estate but was not often seen. Along comes Brandon Laith, the Earl of Craymore, somehow brought to her home by her dog. He has been hurt and stays on while recovering. Some humor, a little goofiness, and a quick romance between a woman not looking for love and a man wanting more in his life.

THE RUNAWAY DUCHESS by Mary Kingsley ***

The most realistic story of the three. Katherine, Duchess of Trent, is tired of her husband and children taking her for granted. She leaves without thinking things out and winds up unable to stay anywhere for the night. Thank her husband for taking off after her. They spend the next several days in a so-so inn trying to learn again why they married and what is important in their lives.
