Omg I love these!!!!!!! Sooooo good!
The eighth book in the popular Miss Fortune Mystery series by Jana Deleon. Fortune is nursing a broken heart and learns she is not the only one. Someone is taking advantage of the lonely single women of Sinful, Louisiana and scamming them out of their money. So naturally, our ladies on once again on the case.

Good addition to the series. I wonder how long this series is going to be. I hope the author can continue putting forth the same humor and zaniness that this and the past books have had. Loo
Another great installment from Jana! Looking forward to more....

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first books in the series. There were a couple of chortles but nothing that elicited a belly laugh. My expectations were dashed. I can't even add this to my humour shelf.

The series seems to have taken a more serious tone now that she's been found out as a CIA assassin. If that's the case, I'm less forgiving of the fact that Fortune has got to be the worst operative and should be dead by now. If the tone of the stories is to remain as humour, then I don't

Fortune Hunter by Jana Deleon is the 8th book in the Miss Fortune mystery series. An internet swindler has targeted the women in Sinful and Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie set off to find the swindler but when their friend is murdered, they are pulled into another murder investigation. Another very funny and entertaining book in the series. Ida Belle and Gertie are such fun characters and come up with great schemes, although not always going to plan. You know there are always giung to be plenty of ...more

It's official - I love this series. Great characters. Intelligent plots. Just plain fun.

Only downside is all the food they talk about. I can't decide if I need to make a pecan pie, a chocolate praline bundt cake or banana pudding.

I absolutely love this series. I love the friendship and camaraderie as much as the shenanigans Swamp Team 3 gets into. As a writer, I really enjoy the pacing in both the individual books and the overarching storyline. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but Fortune had a big “aha moment” that made my romance-loving heart happy. I immediately downloaded the next audiobook.

I was so sad at the end of the last book. Carter found out that Fortune was a CIA agent hiding in Sinful, LA from a real nasty baddie, Ahmed. He was not amused, to day the least. He was really looking for Sandy-Sue Morrow, librarian and former beauty queen, not Fortune Redding, CIA assassin. So, he broke things off and broke her heart too. This left Fortune doing a lot of soul searching about what she really wanted for her life.

When Fortune, Gertie and Ida Belle find out that several of the olde

Didn't see the killer coming, but I was also running on 24 hours with no sleep when I read this one so I'm not 100% I was following closely.

Fortune Hunter by Jana Deleon was another fun ride with Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie as they try to track down a catfisher who is targeting lonely women in Sinful. This one didn't have quite as much humor as the previous books; but Fortune is doing a lot of thinking about her future in this one, so I didn't expect it in this one. I actually enjoyed Fortune's introspection because it felt like I got to know her better in this one that I had in the previous books. I'm waiting impatiently for the ...more

Third Fortune book I've read in 24 hours

These are just fun books with great characters. I'm bringing them like they were a tv show. I need to stop....after the next one. ( well done, Ms. DeLeon!)

Someone has been catfishing the older single women of Sinful, Louisiana, luring them into supposed relationships with fictitious men in order ultimately to get money out of them, so Ida Bell and Gertie use the need to investigate this crime to lure Fortune out of her stupor in Fortune Hunter, the just-released-on-audio eighth book in Jana Deleon's Miss Fortune Mystery series.

Another great one! Kept me laughing! Love the antics of Fortune, Ida Bell and Gertie!
After the way things ended between Fortune and Deputy Carter LeBlanc in the last book of the series, I was kind of reluctant to start this one. Given the turn in their relationship I found this one kind of depressing - at least until the end - the way it ended was encouraging on that front! It didn't seem this one had as many funny parts. Usually, there's at least one or two scenes where I'm doubled over laughing so hard I'm crying and having trouble catching my breath. Still, as always, a good ...more

Nothing is better than to see Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie in action.
I would call this an introspective recap of Fortune, her motives, her relationships. Can be read as a standalone.
2020 bk 96: Social Media can lead to murder. Fortune and her friends are tasking with discovering who is bilking the single women of Sinful, Louisiana of their money - through fake romances. The highjinks ensue as Gertie sets herself up as a target. Lots of fun.
This book was good but it is my least favorite of the series so far. Fortune Hunter is book 8 in the Miss Fortune Mystery series. This series is set in Sinful, Louisiana, USA and follows Fortune, who is a CIA assassin in hiding, and old ladies Gertie and Ida Belle, who are lifelong Sinful residents and ex-spy war veterans, as they help solve a string of various crimes and murders.

Although this book wasn't as funny as the others, the entire series is full of humor. I stumbled across these books
I find it strange that I'm reading two amusing mystery series about women in the CIA who have to hide out in small town America because someone is after them. Who'd have thought? This might be the better series, as it's slightly more believable, if I can use that word for these books. They're not meant to be taken seriously, but I really enjoy the bayou setting, odd happenings and most especially the two very smart, capable and entertaining old ladies who help our MC out. Read the first book or ...more

Fantastic Fortune!

Fortune & the Girls, Gertie & Ida Belle, are back! Fortune is trying to get her head on straight after her break up with Carter when The Girls get her involved with a catfish scam happening in Sinful. The action kicks up quite quickly between the scam & a murder while the threesome investigate. These oddball characters keep getting themselves into dangerous, but uproariously funny situations. There are lots of twists & turns, & a few red herrings that make the story very intere

I loooove these books. I devour them. They are funny and well written and they make me happy to read. In the 8th installment of Jana Deleon's Miss Fortune mysteries Fortune is nursing a broken heart from her break up with Carter, and very confused about the emotions she is feeling. Ida Belle and Gertie learn that several of the local residents are being catfished and drag Fortune out to talk to one of his victims. This catfish isn't just talking to locals, he is taking their money as well. Ida B ...more

Another hilarious book by Jana Deleon and another interesting case for our beloved Swamp Team 3. A great read! I would love to tell you about all the hilarious moments that made me laugh out loud and make me grin thinking about them even days later, but I really want you to enjoy them yourself without being spoilered!

I am devastated that the series is still ongoing, I thought this series would provide some quick and light reading and I didn't know that the eighth book isn't the last one. I real
Fortune is having a hard time dealing with her issues with Carter. And when someone in Fortune is catfishing women, things get crazy for her and her friends. Now, she will do whatever she can to find out what happened, and who is doing all of this.

I was frustrated with the way Carter treated Fortune in this one, but I enjoyed the rest of the book. It was another good one in a string of good books in this series.

I thought the story line was very entertaining and interesting, and I look forward

Very nice. It was more “serious “ and not as funny as previous few books. Mystery was interesting although easy to guess as not too many new characters. But I really enjoyed listening to it.

Catfishers beware!

Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie are on the case, so Catfishers (and not the kind using a fishing line) beware! When those three are involved, one never knows what will happen. Although there are plenty of hijinks, this book takes a more serious tone as Fortune confronts her future. Will she remain with the CIA or plant roots in Sinful? There is much to ponder as the usual murder and mayhem ensue. A nice change of pace, and I love seeing the characters grow.

Cat fishing can be deadly

Fortune and the girls are at it again with, laughs and mishaps a long the way. First the town is has had it's first time with stolen identity then a murder of one of the towns nicest resident. All with Carter knowing the real Fortune and not knowing how that relationship is going or ever get back together. The Fortune and the girls set out to solve the mysteries. Great store and I will wait for the next adventure.

This may really be the last book in the series. A quieter, less raucus tone, less of the over-the-top antics found in earlier books...seems like the author is ready to be done. Enjoyable read overall. I like this character, and it's nice to see characters develop, grow; I think that is harder to write, and maybe even harder to sell. so. good bye to Fortune...and good luck. ...more

Dear fellow readers of the Mis Fortune Mystery series, I suspect if like me you’ve been reading this series in part to see how the romance between Fortune and Deputy LeBlanc plays out, we’re going to be disappointed if we’re secretly hoping for a happily ever after. This isn’t a romance series after all it’s a mystery series about three exceptional independent women. I can’t say the author has been misleading us. Like a good mystery all the clues have been there, with a few red herrings. How man ...more

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jana DeLeon was raised in southwest Louisiana among the bayous and gators. Her hometown is Carlyss, but you probably won't find it on a map. “Exactly,” Gertie said. “This hot young stud claiming to be a marine stationed in the Middle East friended her on Facebook. Apparently, he sent her long letters and poetry and even a nude photo.” “Doesn’t sound like anything worth putting a bra on for,” Ida Belle said. “Well,” Gertie said, “in all fairness, that photo is probably the closest Beulah will ever get to male plumbing.” “Are you kidding?” I said. “The Internet is full of male plumbing.
