The eighth book in the popular Miss Fortune Mystery series by Jana Deleon. Fortune is nursing a broken heart and learns she is not the only one. Someone is taking advantage of the lonely single women of Sinful, Louisiana and scamming them out of their money. So naturally, our ladies on once again on the case.

Good addition to the series. I wonder how long this series is going to be. I hope the author can continue putting forth the same humor and zaniness that this and the past books have had.
Another great installment from Jana! Looking forward to more....

Fortune Hunter by Jana Deleon is the 8th book in the Miss Fortune mystery series. An internet swindler has targeted the women in Sinful and Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie set off to find the swindler but when their friend is murdered, they are pulled into another murder investigation. Another very funny and entertaining book in the series. Ida Belle and Gertie are such fun characters and come up with great schemes, although not always going to plan. You know there are always giung to be plenty of ...more

I was so sad at the end of the last book. Carter found out that Fortune was a CIA agent hiding in Sinful, LA from a real nasty baddie, Ahmed. He was not amused, to day the least. He was really looking for Sandy-Sue Morrow, librarian and former beauty queen, not Fortune Redding, CIA assassin. So, he broke things off and broke her heart too. This left Fortune doing a lot of soul searching about what she really wanted for her life.

When Fortune, Gertie and Ida Belle find out that several of the

It's official - I love this series. Great characters. Intelligent plots. Just plain fun.

Only downside is all the food they talk about. I can't decide if I need to make a pecan pie, a chocolate praline bundt cake or banana pudding.

Fortune Hunter by Jana Deleon was another fun ride with Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie as they try to track down a catfisher who is targeting lonely women in Sinful. This one didn't have quite as much humor as the previous books; but Fortune is doing a lot of thinking about her future in this one, so I didn't expect it in this one. I actually enjoyed Fortune's introspection because it felt like I got to know her better in this one that I had in the previous books. I'm waiting impatiently for the ...more

Didn't see the killer coming, but I was also running on 24 hours with no sleep when I read this one so I'm not 100% I was following closely.

Someone has been catfishing the older single women of Sinful, Louisiana, luring them into supposed relationships with fictitious men in order ultimately to get money out of them, so Ida Bell and Gertie use the need to investigate this crime to lure Fortune out of her stupor in Fortune Hunter, the just-released-on-audio eighth book in Jana Deleon's Miss Fortune Mystery series.

Fantastic Fortune!

Fortune & the Girls, Gertie & Ida Belle, are back! Fortune is trying to get her head on straight after her break up with Carter when The Girls get her involved with a catfish scam happening in Sinful. The action kicks up quite quickly between the scam & a murder while the threesome investigate. These oddball characters keep getting themselves into dangerous, but uproariously funny situations. There are lots of twists & turns, & a few red herrings that make

Nothing is better than to see Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie in action.
I would call this an introspective recap of Fortune, her motives, her relationships. Can be read as a standalone.

Another great one! Kept me laughing! Love the antics of Fortune, Ida Bell and Gertie!
This book was good but it is my least favorite of the series so far. Fortune Hunter is book 8 in the Miss Fortune Mystery series. This series is set in Sinful, Louisiana, USA and follows Fortune, who is a CIA assassin in hiding, and old ladies Gertie and Ida Belle, who are lifelong Sinful residents and ex-spy war veterans, as they help solve a string of various crimes and murders.

Although this book wasn't as funny as the others, the entire series is full of humor. I stumbled across these books
I find it strange that I'm reading two amusing mystery series about women in the CIA who have to hide out in small town America because someone is after them. Who'd have thought? This might be the better series, as it's slightly more believable, if I can use that word for these books. They're not meant to be taken seriously, but I really enjoy the bayou setting, odd happenings and most especially the two very smart, capable and entertaining old ladies who help our MC out. Read the first book or ...more

I loooove these books. I devour them. They are funny and well written and they make me happy to read. In the 8th installment of Jana Deleon's Miss Fortune mysteries Fortune is nursing a broken heart from her break up with Carter, and very confused about the emotions she is feeling. Ida Belle and Gertie learn that several of the local residents are being catfished and drag Fortune out to talk to one of his victims. This catfish isn't just talking to locals, he is taking their money as well. Ida ...more
Another hilarious book by Jana Deleon and another interesting case for our beloved Swamp Team 3. A great read! I would love to tell you about all the hilarious moments that made me laugh out loud and make me grin thinking about them even days later, but I really want you to enjoy them yourself without being spoilered!

I am devastated that the series is still ongoing, I thought this series would provide some quick and light reading and I didn't know that the eighth book isn't the last one. I
Fortune is having a hard time dealing with her issues with Carter. And when someone in Fortune is catfishing women, things get crazy for her and her friends. Now, she will do whatever she can to find out what happened, and who is doing all of this.

I was frustrated with the way Carter treated Fortune in this one, but I enjoyed the rest of the book. It was another good one in a string of good books in this series.

I thought the story line was very entertaining and interesting, and I look forward

Catfishers beware!

Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie are on the case, so Catfishers (and not the kind using a fishing line) beware! When those three are involved, one never knows what will happen. Although there are plenty of hijinks, this book takes a more serious tone as Fortune confronts her future. Will she remain with the CIA or plant roots in Sinful? There is much to ponder as the usual murder and mayhem ensue. A nice change of pace, and I love seeing the characters grow.

Cat fishing can be deadly

Fortune and the girls are at it again with, laughs and mishaps a long the way. First the town is has had it's first time with stolen identity then a murder of one of the towns nicest resident. All with Carter knowing the real Fortune and not knowing how that relationship is going or ever get back together. The Fortune and the girls set out to solve the mysteries. Great store and I will wait for the next adventure.

This may really be the last book in the series. A quieter, less raucus tone, less of the over-the-top antics found in earlier books...seems like the author is ready to be done. Enjoyable read overall. I like this character, and it's nice to see characters develop, grow; I think that is harder to write, and maybe even harder to sell. so. good bye to Fortune...and good luck.

I'm glad things are better with Carter but this one was lacking the humor of the previous books in the series. It felt like it was a just because book. I would have preferred a longer one even if I had to wait longer.

Love this series but this one wasn't as funny as the rest. Usually this series is good for some light hearted fun reading. Hope the next one is back up to standard as I really love the characters.

As usual another great book in the series! I love watching all of the different scrapes these women get into… Especially Gertie. She’s hilarious. In the case of this particular story I had a pretty good idea of what was going on and I have to say that I was right about who the guilty person was but I didn’t quite catch on to who their partner was. But as usual with books in the series half the fun is getting there. I wondered what would happen after Carter found out who Fortune really was and ...more

How Did I Get It? Digital Version via Kindle

Mini Review: Sinful, Louisiana is about to get more romantic when someone is setting up fake online identities to scam the women of Sinful of their money. Then one woman ends up dead and it’s time for Swamp Team 3.

At the beginning of this book I wasn’t impressed. I felt like the author had went away from her typical writing. I liked seeing

Wow. This was a complicated one. Older women in Sinful are being "catfished" by someone pretending to be a young soldier in Iraq ... and one of the nicest women in town is murdered. When her husband says she was having an on-line affair, Swamp Team 3 (Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie) swinging into action.

Of course, Deputy Carter Leblanc is unhappy about this. He now knows about Fortune's cover, and he's more worried about her than ever. That she keeps getting involved in his investigations

Catfishing in Sinful

Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie are determined to find out who is catfishing the lonely ladies of Sinful even if it does mean helping out Celia, possibly the meanest spirited woman alive. Carter has warned them off of his investigation but that doesn't mean much to the Swamp Team 3.

Gertie, Ida Belle, and Fortune find themselves in some funny situations and they are still wreaking havoc on toilets in Sinful. Fortune finds herself reevaluating her life choices after finding out

Jana Deleon at her best. The previous book I didn't enjoy as much because there weren't enough of the madcap highjinks. Fortune Hunter brought back the laughs! I'm in bed reading, my husband is sleeping next to me and I start snickering, then comes chortling, and finally outright laughter! He wakes up looking at me like I'm nuts and all I say is Miss Fortune and he just shakes his head and goes back to sleep.
I love a book that makes me laugh out loud and there is nothing like the messes that

I think this series is an addiction for me. This story just flew by for me and I couldn't believe how quickly I finished it.

Things are still at a stand-still between Carter and Fortune. Sigh, I am still hopeful that something can come from that.

I will say that I did not figure out who the culprit of this installment was before the reveal. Which is very unusual and quite enjoyable.

There is still the threat of Ahmad but this book was more about another resident of Sinful. A great installment

Excellent story! The ladies are at it again and Carter has told them in advance to butt out! A couple of things are going on in Sinful and people are dying. If I say too much it will spoil the story. Let’s just say that the mysteries have twists but the ending is good. Fortune’s hunches will pay out and Carter tells her next time to let him know when she has another hunch. A few surprises but one I was expecting.
Read this excellent book and enjoy! Learn who has figured a few things out and be

“Exactly,” Gertie said. “This hot young stud claiming to be a marine stationed in the Middle East friended her on Facebook. Apparently, he sent her long letters and poetry and even a nude photo.” “Doesn’t sound like anything worth putting a bra on for,” Ida Belle said. “Well,” Gertie said, “in all fairness, that photo is probably the closest Beulah will ever get to male plumbing.” “Are you kidding?” I said. “The Internet is full of male plumbing. It’s like the Walmart of man parts.” 1 likes
