Growing up dirt poor on the streets of Haiti, where he was lucky to even see three meals a day, had turned Nick into a savage. As a teenager, he moved to Miami with his mother and turned to petty crime. After meeting his mentor, Jules, in prison, they head to North Carolina to take over blocks. When Jules decides to leave the game, Nick quickly inherits all of the drama and chaos that comes with being a boss. Shaka is one of the most thorough females in Miami. Recruited to North Carolina to help mutual friends in their time of need, she soon falls for Nick. She quickly takes on the role as Nick's ride or die. Shaka invites her brothers, Crucial, and Malone to North Carolina to get money as well. The unexpected begins to occur as Crucial falls in love with the beautiful Kennedy, and Malone falls in love with an addiction that could cost him everything. When Nick has to do a short bid for a probation violation, he entrusts his business to Shaka. It doesn't take her long to find drama, and it may prove to be more than she can handle. In the midst of their trials, it becomes obvious that everyone isn't meant to live the life of a boss.
I can't put my finger on what it was about this book that got under my skin so much. Maybe it was that I didn't particularly like any of the characters, especially the men, but I lost interest in their entire saga about 50% through the book. The author is talented, I just didn't enjoy this that much.
Nick about to come home and makes heads roll! This is another great series that I recommend to all my urban fiction lovers! She had done it again!! Keep'em coming!!
The storyline kept my attention. The characters was well developed and you understood what part they played in the story. The book is full f emotions from having a baby and losing one. There's new relationship in the making. Ready for part two.
If it's not one thing it's another... Shaka has had it with N.C. but I can bet that Monice had something to do with what happened to her...i hate what happened to Malone but he was such a hot head...
Great start to a spin off series!! I absolutely love me some Cruical and Kennedy!!! I love how he feels the need to protect and provide for her well before sex!! (There's a message there!) I love the confidence that his love gives her. I can't wait to see what's next for them because I know it's not over. Shaka is my girl!! I like her and Nick's dysfunctional relationship. Nick is going to paint the town red about someone touching his Shak! I am upset about the whole baby issue cause I completely understand both sides however I have to side with my girl cause if Nick really didn't want a baby the he should of taken the necessary precautions! Running to book 2!

Natisha Raynor has done it again with this one. Poor Shaka has went through a lot in her young life, yet she still continues to stand. Hopefully once Nick comes back, things will get better for her. Kennedy has been hurt and lied to by the ones that she loves the most. I hope that Crucial can help her find her happy. I anxiously await part 2.
Great Spin-off! When I first read about Nick & Shaka in the Baptiste Boys series, I knew they would be great together. Shaka was a beast of a female who needed a tough dude like Nick. The storyline was thorough & I loved the introduction of new characters-especially Crucial & Kennedy, & appearances from known characters. Great drama & action! I can say that every story I've read by Natisha Raynor has been fabulous & I highly recommend!
First off how you end like that with truth and Em? When do they drop? Now this story flowed well to me. The twist and turns were realistic and you didn’t see them coming. Shonda moon face tale got on my last nerves I just wanted to paint brush her a few times. Nick grew up and when he did I like him even more baby. Crucial was bae I couldn’t decide between the 2 guys. It’s a must read standalone
oh man.... this follow up to the Baptiste boys, Nick,Shaka, & introducing Malone, Crucial and Kennedy was the bomb!! Ms Raynor really tugged at a few of my emotions with this story & she's left me on edge waiting for a follow up. overall, This was definitely a good read & I can't wait to see how the story unfold.
So now I have to go read about the Baptiste boys!!' I'm in Love with Crucial and on the fence about Nick. I want to see how Shaka is going to deal with all these hits that keep coming. Kennedy needs to wake up and look around her. Everybody ain't her friend and she got a real man riding for her.
I loved Nick and shaka but nick had alot of growing up ti do. It shouldn’t have took another man to get her for him to realize what he had. I loved Crucial and Kennedy i just hate that she had to go through so much. Shonda got wat she deserved she shouldnt have been sneaky. And Malone i had hopes fir him but he let the drugs take over him.
Natisha definitely took us on a roller coaster ride. Nick and Shaka are toxic and truthfully I was rooting for her and someone else but I do like the way he rode behind her for whatever. I need to go back and read the others’ story but I’m excited for Emilie and Truth. So much happened and it was so many plot twists but it was a good read!
I need part 2 ASAP! I am #teamcrucial all the way. I hope him and Kennedy make it work. Poor Shaka can't even catch a break. I hope Nick get his girl back when he come home. This was definitely a page turner.
I like Siah and Moonie together he just need to commit bc a woman gets tired of waiting... Kizzie need to get it together bc Jock really is trying to be with her,smh and he is get tired of her mess
This book was off the chain. I don't want to say to much to spoil it for who haven't read this but baby I love the the relationship one couple has. If you haven't read this book your missing out
Wow.....this was a 5 star banger for sure!! I loved the storyline and the characters interactions with one another especially the siblings made the story so much more believable. Can't wait for part 2.
Man this author pen game is dope, this book is off the chain. Wow i can't wait to read part 2 bc Nick is gonna be on a warpath once he finds out tht Monice had something to do with Shaka being in the hospital. Man let the drama begin
I knew Shaka and Nick was going to be my favorite. I know Nick about to paint the city red. I also love Kennedy and Crucial. I hope they get it together
