A bunch of animals follow along with a guy on his way to woo his true-love . . . with the pie he wears on his head.

Yeah.

It doesn't get any better after that. Combine the annoying story with the borderline-creepy artwork by Christopher Santoro, and, well - you've got a sticky mess. Best to avoid.

Great book, was my daughter's favorite for many months. A bit long but the cadence and different voices for the animals makes it a big hit. Will order another copy when she's old enough to read it herself.

The king is carrying a pie on his head to woo a queen for her hand in marriage. On the way he encounters various animals who all try to trick him into giving up the pie. There are catchy rhymes throughout and a happy ending for all.
