The most memorable gift you can give to a new graduate is sound advice for a successful life. In his second book, author Clark Gaither gives his best advice in The Graduate’s Handbook , highlighting the hardest easy lessons he’s ever learned. For a head start on a life of passion and purpose, this gift book imbues graduates with hope, inspiration, motivation, and the truth about living life on life's terms. The Graduate’s Handbook is more than a thoughtful gift book―it offers insight on careers, procrastination, reality-based living, fear, failure, and relationships. Page after page includes profound quotations from the author himself and dozens of successful authors, philosophers, and historical figures. “We are glorious creatures of the universe destined to accomplish, to build, to produce, to create, to innovate.” Graduates can make this book extra special by writing their future goals in the front, which they can look back on years from now to see how far they've come! Each gift book includes an area for inscription to make it a personal gift from you. Whether you’re buying for a high school or college graduate, this keepsake will guide and teach them for many years to come!
I ordered Graduate's Handbook for a cherished friend who just graduated university, and I had it shipped to my house so I could write a note in it. Of course, I had to have a look when it came, which turned into reading it. Another copy is on the way for the gift.
Dr. Clark Gaither put together a perfect little book of pithy wisdom, and frankly I'm astonished it hasn't gone viral. Each chapter is brief, gets to the point quickly, and is accompanied by wonderful quotes by thinkers, writers, and leaders from diverse fields. This is a book for anyone graduating from anything, be it high school or university, the school of hard knocks, or simply from yesterday to tomorrow. Wonderful!
Here are a few excerpts:
On Success: "Before you can have success, you must first define what success means to you." Dr. Gaither
On Your Life's Journey: "All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware." Martin Buber
On Life Without Self-Imposed Limits: "When nothing is sure, everything is possible." Margaret Atwood
On Knowledge: "We are never fully prepared for what we discover." Dr. Gaither
One more. On Change: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." Mahatma Gandhi
I loved the Graduate's Handbook and it makes a great gift for all graduate's. It's a fast easy read with short chapters. There are motivating quotes by the author and others in each chapter. It grabs you right away and gives great advice in a easy format. It gives great direction and encouragement for graduate's next chapter in their lives. I highly recommend the Graduate's handbook to all graduate's if it's from high school or college.
Short read. Pretty typical self-help but not bad. I would probably give it to a recent graduate without much hesitation. The author quoting himself multiple times was a bit odd but the overall message was worth it.
