While a tad stumbling at first, it was written decently, with the rhyming scheme flowing more naturally from the middle of the book on. Simple story that kids can enjoy.

One of my favorites as a kid. Now one of my favorites as a dad reading to his kids.

This is my favorite Arch book for kids of all time. It's The Parable of the Good Shepherd and the Lost Sheep that Jesus told in Luke 15:1-7, retold with more detail for little children. I love what a good picture it gives of God's grace and mercy and how He pursues us to rescue us when we mess up. The reason that this book is my favorite of the Arch series is that I never want my children to think that they can wander so far that God won't love them or forgive them. That's the gospel good news in a nutshell. I love the ending,
"Once back inside the snug sheepfold,
the Shepherd does not rant or scold,
but smooths on olive oil to heal
all Baa's deep scratches, and we're told
it's done so kindly, Baa can feel -
How much his Shepherd cares for him -
one poor, lost lamb, back home again!"

The back of the book says that it's for kids ages 5-9, but we started younger with these Arch books, and went older.

A shepherd wearing a wizard hat takes his sheep out to eat, shooting a lion with his sling shot along the way. Upon returning to the sheep pen he realizes that Baby Baa is missing. he must travers the now dangerous path to locate the lost sheep. Beautifully illustrated.
