This is such an easygoing book, and it swept me away. If you are looking for a book to escape into, this is it. It was relaxing to read this book. I just wanted to sit in a corner window with some English Breakfast tea and disappear into this book. This book is “ace.” *giggles

I want to go to England and spend the summer working at a castle… and falling for my friend’s brother. I need to know how to make this happen.

I’m a huge fan of Brenda St. John Brown, and A Brit On The Side only solidified that further for me.

Bea Gillespie’s only plan for the summer is to spend time with her best friend Scarlett, not feel guilty about dumping her fiancé and get out and see England. There’s a slight hiccup in her plan when she arrives at the castle she’ll be staying at only to f

Brenda St John Brown knocked it out of the park with her 2014 New Adult debut, Swimming to Tokyo, and she’s done it again with A Brit on the Side. Being obsessed with all things British, I couldn’t wait for this book, and it didn’t disappoint. Right from the beginning, I wished I could be at Castle Calder with Bea and the gang, working for the summer and falling for a cute Brit.

What I love best about St John Brown’s books is the complex,

Brenda St. John Brown is my FAVORITE. I know I'm going to love anything she writes so I'm always super excited when I see she has a new novel coming out. She never disappoints me and this time wasn't any different.

A Brit on the Side is a lighter read than what I’m used to from Brenda, but it's SO incredibly well done. I was totally sucked into Bea's story from the first page. Bea's recently broken off an engagement to Theo. Theo's a great guy, but kind of like vanilla ice cream- delicious, but d

This was such a fun and romantic read. Bea has just broken up with her ex-fiancé and she just wants to get away from it for a bit, so she gets to stay the summer in the UK at the castle her best fiend Scarlett her parents own. What she didn't count on was that Scarlett her brother Jasper would be there too. They shared a hot hook-up years ago that Bea never told her best friend about. I really enjoyed this book, it was a great read.

Quick Rundown: Well, the wedding's off. To quote the Queen Bey, "somethin' aint right" so Chick breaks off her engagement and heads off with her British Roomie to her "home" in England for the summer holiday so she won't have to work with her ex. Home is actually a castle, a bed and breakfast if you will and Chick is anxious to discover that her

3.5 stars. I was intrigued by the blurb of Bea coming face to face with a former, casual hookup that is the older brother of her best friend. Not to mention that Bea never said a word about it to Scarlett, Jasper's sister, so the situation has awkward written all over it.

I really liked the storyline because it was the perfect setup for Bea to have to face some hard truths while trying to figure out who she was and what she wanted. Bea herself is intelligent, caring and realistic. She knows her

Bea Gillespie called things off with her boyfriend, who looks perfect on paper. So instead of teaching summer school, two classrooms down from him, she takes the invite to England, her best friend Scarlett extends, to work in her family's castle turned hotel, for the summer. And although, she thought she left all of her problems across the ocean, a bigger one is waiting for her in England. Two years ago, Bea hooked up with Jasper, Scarlett's brother, for the best weekend of her life, but it was ...more

Jasper could be an *** at times, but then there were those times he was thinking of his woman, "Jasper kisses my forehead. “Well, I couldn’t let you go off to London sexually frustrated, could I?” I really loved this book, I'm hoping to see Claire and Scarlett to get their own books.

First of all I really enjoyed the place this story took, like hello LONDON, castles, nature. Oh and the plot line just great. In this book we have Bea, a beautiful young woman with her own emotional struggles, the unconformity with her weight, a girl trying to find her own voice.

There's also Jasper, the typical hot older brother (of Bea's best friend). He's like a super genius, at least in science because in people, he still has a

Bea Gillespie is willing to do anything to spend the summer away from her ex-fiancée. So when Scarlett, her best friend, invites her to England for the summer, she cannot get on the plane quick enough. Working at a castle-turned-hotel that is owned by Scarlett’s family can’t be that bad, can it? Even in a different country, Bea finds herself with man trouble. This time it’s in the form of a British one, who just happens to be Scarlett’s older brother. Jasper is just as smart and sexy as Bea reme ...more

Brenda St. John Brown has a way of taking me by surprise. If you have not read any of her books, you need to start now. Overall, her writing is well thought out, smooth, and invites you to join in on a story that will take you places you never imagined you would go. There is emotion, both the good and bad kind, friendship, love, family, and real issues in her writing. So naturally, when A Brit on the Side popped up on my radar, I was beyond excited to read this book. It was everything I expected ...more

Can I please go to England, anytime of the year, not just the summer and work in a castle? Maybe just move and live in a castle permanently? Who do I need to talk to in order to make that happen? This list at the beginning of the book's synopsis is what did me in:

Bea decides after dumping her fiancé to follow her best friend to England to work for the summer. Problem is she might have slept with her best friends brother who is also there for the summer.

I really liked the themes for this book. It was a coming of age book where Bea’s dealing with her feelings for her best friends brother, how that would impact her relationship with her best friend, and body image issues. Bea’s also struggling finding her voice after letting her ex-fiancé make all her deci

As much as I enjoyed Brenda St. John Brown's Truth series, I've been waiting for her to write another new adult book because I loved her first one so very much. (That's Swimming to Tokyo, in case you didn't know. You should read it. Really.) And you know what? It was worth waiting on because A Brit on the Side was so flipping good.

I've always had a love affair with England and I'm a huge fan of the best friend's brother trope, so this one had my na

This book makes me want to go to a castle and explore all over England, just because. It was so very sweet and endearing and really if you think hard about it, totally realistic. This could happen, maybe not to me but it can definitely happen. Brenda St. John Brown really did a great job bringing all these characters to life in a beautiful setting that is fairy tale like, but realistic. I adored this book and everything about it.

This second chance romance is delightfully sweet, and sexy. It is about friendship, trust, loyalty, and learning to believe and accept yourself. This was my first book by Brenda and I don't think it will be last either. Brenda did a great job giving us a light and refreshing read that was a welcome reprieve from the dark and serious reads that I usually read. They are relationships are real and they are ones that you can actually see transpiring in real life. You will be hooked from the very beginning of this book!
