The authors, Ohio State University history teachers, approach the subject of twentieth-century world history from a truly global perspective. The interrelatedness of the rapidly more accessible world is demonstrated through a survey of both the developing and developed world, and the authors deliberately provide an interdisciplinary overview of the issues and events of the contemporary world.

In keeping with their intent to provide a "big picture" of world history, the authors analyze events from a broad perspective and integrate both knowledge gained in hindsight, and global factors involved.
