It's been awhile since I've read a story about dragons, so I jumped on the chance to read this book. I admit that I haven't read the rest of the books in this series, so I was at times a bit lost, especially when it came to the love drama between the Dragon king and the Fae queen and his previous lover. But aside from that I liked the story. It's action packed but with enough sweet scenes that made the romantic in me satisfied. I loved how Dimitri gr

Faith is an archaeologist on a dig on the isle Dimitri once ruled and she's discovered something that, in the wrong hands, can do a lot of damage. Dimitri and Faith were paired well. However, I found that I really can't pin down an identity for Faith outside of her profession. Also, for Dimitri, it feels like he's not quite sure of how he feels about key issues affecting the story line, independently of whether there are outside influences or not. It's that uncertainty that prevents me from givi ...more

'Firestorm' by Donna Grant is book ten in the "Dark Kings" series. This is the story of Dimitri and Faith. I have been jumping in and out of this series so for me this was a standalone book.
Faith is a Archaeologist who has found a Dragon skeleton. Dimitri has been sent to destroy the Dragon skeleton so that him and his people can keep their shifting Dragon history a secret. Dimitri and the other Dragon Shifters are pretty much immortal. So Dimitri feels that he had let his fellow Dragon down by

Firestorm is an incredibly stunning and deliciously decadent romantic fantasy that will curl your toes while it captures your heart. This is a truly fantastic world that is meticulously crafted and wildly rich with wonderful characters and a sumptuously complex storyline. Nothing can deny the wonderfully addictive pull that this adventure will have your mind and your heart. I can’t deny myself a new adventure, but what a fabulous gift when I am presented with one that is completely out of the or ...more

I read a review on this book and immediately went looking for it, my problem was I assumed it was a first in series whereas in actual fact it's book 10.

The earth used to belong to the dragons and all was well but humans like a plague spread through the land taking more and more until they wanted it all and so they drove the dragons away. The dragons having taken a vow to protect the humans were powerless and so in their billions they fled to another realm leaving only the kings behind. The K

I need to know more about the DARK…

Geez, I hate being the last to know. Donna Grant has only recently come onto my radar and I have a lot to catch up on. Reading Firestorm was great but I hated not knowing who, what, where or why things were happening except for the small amount I learnt in Smoke and Fire. I enjoyed the journey but it kind of felt like I had slept the whole way flying first class to a holiday destination. The holiday is awesome but getting to experience flying first class (inste

Love blooms amid revered bones…

This is the tenth book in the Dark Kings series.

As the king of the white dragons Dmitri sent his kindred over the magical bridge between realms to save them eons ago. He searched for those remaining that needed help to cross and then removed evidence of their existence for those who’d died but he seems to have missed one and the guilt of his failure and how it could have happened drive him for answers now when a skeleton is found on the isle they once called home.

Donna Grant's Dark King series is like watching a great TV series come to life in my mind. The twists and turns grow with every episode. And no matter how long between each book, her writing style is so comfortable, that it is easy to pick right up from where she left us. In her tenth (10th) installment, we are introduced to Dimitri, Dragon King to the white dragons, nicknamed "Muscles" by Dr. Faith Reynolds. Faith is an archaeologist, who has uncovered ancient dragon bones. Since Dimitri made s ...more

Tell me a story about a shifter who mate for life and I’m sold! I love the trend of dragon shifters I’ve been seeing lately. There just seems to be something more magical about them versus other types of shifters.

I was very entertained with this plot. Faith is an archaeologist who finds bones in a cave that she believes proves the existence to Dragons. The story gets leaked and now there are forces trying to steal the bones at all costs. Dimitri, a dragon king is sent to destroy the bones to pr

I remember starting this series with high expectations and I wasn't disappointed but then if honest I got a little bored as the stories seemed to almost follow a pattern at times. I stopped reading these and tried her newer series about Reapers and the crossover got me wondering just how far (if at all) the Dragon Kings have progressed. So here I am having read the story of Dimitri the King of the white dragons and how meeting Faith an archaeologist turns his world upside down. D

Faith has lived a lonely life and since her mom passed digging up history and fossils has become her life. For once she is excited about something that she discovered on Fair Isle ...a dragon remains, but not everyone is happy about it. On a faraway place called Dreagon where the Dragons kings live Con the King of the Dragon kings is worried because all dragons live or dead were to be removed from there so that the mortals would forget they existed. Con has decided that Dmitri will go as it was ...more

Ok so I absolutely loved this book, I am hooked more then ever!!!! Ienjoyed the storylines, everything was smooth and just flowed well. But.... The main story was not the romance between muscles and the Dr. I felt it was more in the direction of major plot that has slowly been introduced and unfolded in each book in this series. A few questions were kinda answered but I have a ton more.... and for God's sake please tell me Con will get a mate, and who in the hell is Rhi's king...... ugghhhhhh th ...more

First book read in 2017 and what a glorious read it was!

My god ladies and gents! So much happens in this book! It's eye opening, heart wrenching, swoon inducing goodness!

The chemistry between the two is explosive. The need they both share to find out what happened to a dragon thousands of years ago is strong. And it definitely pulls them together. Dimitri gains a respect for Faith that never would have happened with his hatred of humans. But of course certain people can change certain minds!

I don’t know the words to tell you how great this book is. I wont go into detail about the plot as I hate spoilers.
The first couple chapters immerse you in the history of the kings and gives you the basis of the conflict. This is for those that haven't read every other book in this series.

Ms. Grant then jumps in with both feet as the story unfolds and takes you on a ride you gladly hold on for.
While immersed in Firestorm you find yourself waiting for what's on the next page. When you get to the

Dimitri and Faith are great together. Yet again their relationship and troubles are different from all the previous couples...which I love. Nice seeing all the peeps again. Ulrik, of course, needs to die. I'm sure he's the one who left that little surprise behind which caused so much trouble.

Rhi is starting to grow on me again. If it turns out that V is her Dragon King, I'm not going to be happy. He's a douche.
Dimitri has lived his life protecting the world for the knowledge about the Dragon kind. Now that is threatened by an oh, so, sexy, Dr. Faith Reynolds.

Faith is an archeologist that has uncovered, what she believes, is a honest to God dragon skeleton.

When the uber alpha guard, Dimitri, comes to oversee her dig, she is caught up in his sexy appeal but not even close to Dimitri’s obsession with Faith. He should be focused on removing all evidence of this fellow dragon that was left behind but all

FIRESTORM is book ten in the Dark Kings series by Donna Grant. Normally I would say it’s find to read these books as standalones but I feel like with ten books already out, it’s probably best to read them in order. Grant has been building this world for a very long time. Some series like this one are actually spin-offs from her other series but I don’t think you need to read those to enjoy this one.

I always enjoy Grant’s heroes in this series. While they are powerful and deadly, they don’t

Dragons, betrayal and intrigue fill the world of the Dark Kings. Book ten in this series features the very sexy Dimitri. For those who are just joining this series, this book can be read without reading the previous books in the series. It is easy to catch up to speed on the state of the world. A reader quickly learns how the Dragon shifters keep on fighting their invisible to man war. Ms. Grant does a nice job with short recaps and flashbacks to the past.

Almost perfect..

This was another good read from the Dragon Kind series. This one is about Dmitri and Faith who meet at an archeological dig on the island that Dimitri ruled as the dragon king, eons ago. Faith has uncovered a dragon skeleton and Dmitri goes there to figure out how he could have left one of his dragons there alone when he sent all his whites across the dragon bridge.

Of course, the dark fae turn up and Dimitri and Faith have to kill them, but not before they kill two of Faith’s d
Firestorm is the tenth book in the Dark Kings series. The story takes place in various areas of Scotland. It also means that most of the Kings including Dimitri speaks with a Scottish accent. It is verra, verra good and makes his character a bit more swoon-worthy. The Kings are dragons that existed on Earth before mankind and through poor judgement on their part swore to provide protection for humankind. I say poor judgement because the humans procreated and eventually turned against the dragons ...more

DNF at 54%. Not a standalone. I liked the MCs for this novel, but my enjoyment was hampered by the extraneous characters and events tied to other books/series for which I had no background.

Dr. Faith Reynolds has found an skeleton that looks remarkably like a dragon. When Dimitri is sent to keep the secrets of the Dragon race hidden, he has to deal with Faith who is human and he generally stays away from. He didn't expect to find himself protective of her. With an old enemy trying to create havoc.

There is a heat that builds up between Faith and Dimitri, like a pull you feel from the moment the couple is introduced to one another. I have not read the full series so at times did fee

I was thinking I was really going to enjoy this book ....... I was wrong sadly.

It was not necessarily bad but it was like a slice of life with a decent beginning and a decent story but it went almost nowhere. At the end of the book you had a jerky romance story , pieces from obviously previous books that did little but leave you confused and an overall depressing vision of the future ...... and then it ended, no resolution of pretty much anything.

This was not a cliffhanger, it was just a story t

This is the tenth book in the Dark Kings series and I haven’t read any of the previous books but still enjoyed this one! It tells the story of Dimitri, the White Dragon-shifter King, and Faith, and archaeologist who has discovered a Dragon skeleton on Dimitiri’s previous home island. There was a tremendous battle centuries ago between humans and the dragons left this realm, leaving behind their Kings to who were there to protect them.

I read my first book by Donna Grant this year and I am hooked on her writing. The most exciting common thread is the world building in the series I have read. Each book stands on its own but the bigger story-line reels you in and keeps you coming back for more. Firestorm is my first book in the Dark Kings series but I loved it and I'm stoked about reading the rest of the series.

Dr. Faith Reynold seems to have stumbled upon the biggest find of her archaeology career in the form of a dragon skele

Received a copy for review from the publisher.

Wow! I don't read many dragon novels, but this made me fall in love! I truly enjoyed this story from start to finish. I didn't care for the tidbits about the others such as Rhi (she seems fishy), Con (the King of Dragon Kings) or Ulrik (the ex-Dragon King of the Silvers), but they were helpful in a sense. I do wish there was more between Dimitri and Faith as I truly enjoyed their romance.

Dimitri is a sweet, quiet Dragon King of the Whites. I loved ho
