First Thoughts upon Completion: Wow, what an ending!!!
Thoughts Thereafter: I MUST know what's going to happen next.
Quick Summary: Taming the Tycoon was an unexpected treat.
Comments: I love second chance romances, and although this wasn't a true second chance, it came off like one, in a sense. This couple was intense. Their reunion was one giant tell. I appreciated their emotions, their passion and their struggle; it all made their story that much more real. And did I mention that ending???

I enjoyed reading about Lucius and Naomi's love story, however the beginning threw me off a bit. I continued reading because I really wanted to see how Lucius was going to accomplish his goal of buying up shares and taking Naomi's company and it did not disappoint! Although she was the loving, caring, and the marrying type, Lucius was far from it because it was next to non-existent while he was growing up!! The opposites did attract and the ending has me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting on the second installment! Awesome read Ms. St. John!
This book was everything!!! Miss Yahrah really did her thing with this book!!! Lucius and Naomi love was everything!! How it all came together was blissful. I liked how she gave him a hard time, but he didn’t give up!! I swear I could jump through the book and shake his mother for what she did to him. I’m glad he came Lucius came to realize that he loved Naomi and she loved him too!! This was a great read!!
January 14, 2017 by Deborah A. Fortner CONCEPT Corporate tycoon seeks to overtake a company from a high-school classmate and well as takeover her heart. STORY In high school, Naomi Brooks had a major crush on Lucius Knight—much like every other girl. So it's oh-so-satisfying to have the sexy corporate raider eager to buy her organic-products company years later. This man doesn't know how to lose. And he's making it clear that he wants Naomi's business as well as her body… Even when Naomi was a rough-and-tumble tomboy, Lucius was drawn to her. Now that she's bold, sexy and confident, she's even more alluring. He's willing to play dirty to convince her that a liaison can be mutually beneficial in and out of the bedroom. But that gamble, and an explosive family secret, might cost him the only conquest that truly matters: her heart. CHARACTERS Ms. St. John did a fine job with character development. Naomi Brooks had a major crush on Lucius Knight when they were in high school and once their paths cross years later, Naomi never expects the man would remember her since he is determined to buy ownership of her company. She also doesn’t realize Lucius wants more than her company he wants her. Naomi is not a woman to just lay down and let Lucius come in and takeover her company or trample her heart. Naomi is about loyalty, family and love whereas Lucius has not really been exposed to family love but he wants to experience those with Naomi. He needs to try and convince her his feelings are true and that he only wants her heart. DIALOGUE The dialogue of the story flowed and readers will emphasize with Lucius. STRUCTURE The structure of the story was well-crafted and readers are able to identify with the characters. OVERALL I thoroughly enjoyed Naomi and Lucius’ story and look forward to the next installment in this series. Overall, Taming Her Tycoon is a good read and I would recommend this author and story.
I have cut back on reading Kimani romances as much as I used to because the formula started to get on my nerves. Most romances follow a formula, I know, but the editing was really starting to get in the way of plot development in a lot of cases. I can’t resist a series, though, and I like Yahrah St. John, so I gave this one a try.
St. John admits that the Knights of Los Angeles series was influenced by her watching Empire and it’s depiction of the brother’s relationships (and the name Lucius). Naomi Brooks and her best friend have built their organic beauty products company from the ground up and are quite successful. So successful, in fact, that they are being eyed for takeover by Lucius Knight, a millionaire businessman looking for companies to add to his “empire”. Lucius is also on a mission to discover who his father is, much to his mother’s dismay.
Yes, the tried and true romance formula is here, but Naomi’s fight for her company’s independence and Lucius’ discovery of his roots and a brother he didn’t know about were interesting enough to have me waiting for the next in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of the e-book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
"There is always a sense of vindication when a man has to work hard to win the affections of a woman. There were instances when this book teetered on the edge of predictability, but the author was wise to avoid those pitfalls. The characters are engaging and honest in their insecurities, especially the male protagonist. An easy read, this Knights of Los Angeles installment will capture your attention from the first page to the last" (4 stars @ RT Book Reviews).
Naomi and Lucius are old friends that reunite for business and pleasure. Lucius wants to add Naomi's company to his large holdings and take it global. Naomi wanted to keep her company as the medium business that it is. But, once Lucius reacquaints with Naomi his plans change. To add to his issues he has been unable to get his mother to admit who his father is. This has created a serious emotional strain between he and his mother. This was a great series start and the ending is a great set up for the next book.
I love this book I could not put it down it only took me a day to read. I love the author let you know why Lucius feel the way that he did and how it almost cause him the love of his life. I would have like to read a little more about how the birth father find out about him.
