People always say it’s what’s on the inside that matters. If that’s the case, I’m screwed. On the outside, everything looks put together — blonde hair, blue eyes, tall and lean. By society’s standards, I’d be considered attractive. But f*ck society, I know what I am. I know what I’m made of. " How long does it take to fall in love with someone? A minute? An hour? A day? A year?

"You know what I love about books like these? It's an eye opener about a very real topic that's not been talked about a lot. So when Ms.Lane contacted me to to review this, I was more than happy to help and spread the word about this because I truly feel that the more we come together and have a strong voice, we could make such a difference and help.

I finally finished this one last night, end of the year as a teacher is a bit cray and I didn't have as much time to read as I would have liked.

I'm giving this one 3 stars due to the fact that I felt the writing here had some holes. I don't want to give too much detail at the risk of spoilers. It's written in dual POV and then we have the past of the main heroine as different chapters. Also, we would jump from one issue and then it be solved in the next paragraph. The premise of the story was go

I loved this book so much. When I first read the blurb I was intrigued. I knew that this was going to deal with a very tough topic but maybe in way that is what I was drawn to. This book deals with rape and the effects it has on not just one person but the families as well. For me it's not about the dark moments its about the moments and years after. Its about how that four letter word can have a lasting effect on someone for many many years after. There are so many

I discovered Prescott Lane, reading Stripped Raw. I knew from the first sentences that I found something magical.

The way Prescott writes her novels makes you feel more than you could imagine.

Layers of Her is not your typical story about rape. And I am not saying that there is anything typical or trivial regarding rapes. Each survivor and victim deals with it as they can.

We know that this book is going to deal with rape. But it won’t be in the way we expect it to be. It seeps into Campbell and h

Good read...just thought it would be a little more deeper / complex based off the blurb and title.

Layers of Her by Prescott Lane is not just a book…it’s an experience. I struggled about whether to read this story for personal reasons and after a conversation with someone, I decided to go ahead and do it. That’s not to say that I wasn’t extremely nervous and just waiting to have something horrible trigger a traumatic episode in my life. I’m happy to say that this didn’t happen and I’m thrilled that I read this book. I’ve been reading Prescott Lane’s books for a while and I shouldn’t have worr ...more

WOW!! This is by far my fav book of Prescott Lane! This book had me captivated from the beginning letter to the readers until the last word written! It's a story of survival, 2nd chances, new beginnings, life, love & loss!

Campbell is an amazing person! She loses herself for a long time because she lets her past take over her life! A past the no one wants to relive every day but she does! She meets Stone & he teaches her to let things go & live again!

I sobbed, screamed(internally), wanted to ju

This was a beautiful story but the crass language and descriptions had the book almost end in a DNF for me. Seeing that I was curious about the good reviews I read on. Not disappointed with the story but have a love-hate feeling about the book as a whole.

"Then who's protecting you?"
"I protect myself. Like always."

That's the first word that comes to my mind when I think about this story. This book is not for the fragile hearts. It hits you to the core.

Campbell and Stone are like the eye of the storm. While everything in their world seems to be in a whirlwind, they center each other.

"You can say no."
"I can say no, but I choose yes."

This story is more complex than you expect. Not in a bad way at all! But just when you think you have figured out

You know when you read a book so amazing you just want to shout to everyone that they need to read it? But then at the same time, you just want to keep it to yourself so you can be a greedy #BookWhore and have them all to yourself?

Well that's what Layers of Her did for me.

I finished the book and instantly opened Facebook and got ready to gush about how much this book touched me.
I mean come on, Stone and Campbell are fucking amazing.

I ended up closing Facebook without posting, and snuggled deep i

I didn’t know what to expect when I chose to read Layers of Her, I just knew that I had to read it because Prescott Lane wrote it. I will be honest and say I was quite nervous about reading this book, given the topic. And after reading the letter to the readers from the author, I thought this story was going to be different.

This book went in a different direction then I thought it would, but I will agree with the author, this b

Layers of Her is an emotional story of survival, healing, new beginnings, and a redeeming love that will tug at the heartstrings and stir the soul.

Campbell May is a NICU nurse who is haunted by her traumatic past.

Stone Delhomme is a retired MMA fighter, gym owner, and a single dad to his one and a half year old daughter Tate, who has a severe hearing loss.

From the day that Campbell steps into Stone's gym, Stone is attracted to Campbell, and he is determined to break down Campbell's walls of de

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of Layers of Her by Prescott Lane for the purpose of an honest review.

This was a very difficult book to read for me. The subject of rape is one that I have struggled with for many years. There are days that I believe I’m done with it, then with the blink of an eye it all comes rolling back over me like it was just yesterday. I was only 13 years old the first time I was raped, and that set the tone of my life for years to come. Today I’m 52 and I’m bett

Survival means different things to different people. No two people are the same, and each of us deals with tragedy in our own way. The journey to healing is usually a path riddled with layers that have to be pulled back carefully, to discover the inner workings of one’s psyche. In Layers of Her by Prescott Lane, we are presented with a beautiful story of endurance for two very different characters. They’ve both suffered, their past demons damaging them. Campbell May and Stone Delhomme may appear ...more

ARC provided by Ardent PRose for honest review.

I finished this book two days ago, and I have to worst case of book hangover ever. This is my must read book of the year. While this book has a warning about it dealing with rape, I did not see the plot going the way it did.

This book will have you thinking about the survivors and how they deal with the carnage left behind. There is NO graphic details regarding the heinous act of rape, but more of the dealing of it after the fact. This book reminded
I have to admit, after reading the synopsis I went into this book with a little trepidation. Reading about such a difficult subject as rape is never easy. I was pleasantly relieved at how the subject was handled with such grace and beauty. Within the layers of this story is a message. It reminds us that although we are a product of the things that happen to us, it is up to us to decide whether we let it affect us in a negative way, or inspire us to be better because of it, no in spite of it.

"Evil is made, not born."

I wanted to read this book from Prescott Lane because I was in the mood for survivor story. She didn't disappoint she created a strong character with a sad story.

Campbell's life has made her a emotional fighter. Her life has given her pain and she has been continuing to fight through and making her a strong spirt but also broken.

Stone is just that, her rock. He is an MMA fighter, so his strength is in his muscles. He has fallen in love with Campbell and the strength h

OK this story hits really close to home for me on so many levels. As I am sure it does with many. Ms. Lane does a really good job of letting this character tell her own story without actually TELLING frame by frame her past, and trauma. I was drawn into the little world that was Campbell. That is until Stone walks in. Or better pounces. As an MMA fighter he has a draw, a sense of security, and protector. ANd even tho it takes a little time to realize it Stone is exactly what Campbell, and many o ...more

This book was not what I was expecting at all!!

Layers of Her hits on a subject that is often not talked about-Rape!
It's a subject most don't want to think about but Prescott Lane really did this novel justice & personally I think she handled it so very well.

I really loved the characters in this book & the plot & twists.
Layers of her is so very beautifully written & pulls you into its pages & leaves you feeling like you are a part of the unfolding story.

Huge well done on another 5 star novel ⭐️⭐️

I had heard so much about this novel so as you can imagine being an addict to all things books I just had to have this and see what all the talk was about.

We meet Campbell.
Young and beautiful.
But she has scars.
Scars that run so deep that she has been trying to overcome them for years.
Her past haunts her daily.
A never ending cycle of pain and the seek for revenge.
But the revenge never comes.
The hurt remains, so Campbell closes her heart off to th

Well written book.

Beautiful. The author turned a very sensitive topic into a beautiful, tasteful book. Love and support from the people that are around us can make it easier to navigate through some terrible things in life.

0 Stars, yes it was that bad.
He is a controlling and manipulating ass-wipe and she is a pushover. He always got what he wanted no matter what her feelings were. I wish I stopped reading after she walked in on him getting a BJ after he kissed her.
