I did not like anything about this story. The cover was horrendous, and the blurb was super misleading. When one reads prison and cell mates in the blurb one expects the setting to be in prison. It was false advertising all around. The only reason that it wasn't one star was because the writing of the story was good, that doesn't mean I enjoyed the story at

So you want to be with a man now? Just like that?

When Craig and Kirk became cellmates for a year, they became everything to each other, including lovers.

Now that Craig is released and Kirk - known then as Rocky - still has time to go on his sentence, Craig returns home to the life that he once knew. His

Craig and Kirk were cell mates in prison for a year. During that time they developed an escalating level of physical intimacy, which included sex. Craig is released six month ahead of Kirk, and struggles little on his re-entry to society. His father owns his own construction company, and Craig returns home to live with his father and younger brother, Stuart. They want Craig to go out and party on the weekends, bringing home a different gal every time, as they do. Craig would much rather find a ...more

This is my second read by Louise Lyons, and I'm really enjoying the stories she writes. On the Outside was short enough to read in less than a day, but still long enough to be a satisfying, complete story.

There were really only four characters that this story centered on, Craig and Kirk-our two main characters, and Craig's father and brother. They are all good, well-developed characters, although I did think the father was a bit shallow and also really needed to act more his age. Once released

I was given this book from the publishers in exchange for an honest review.

I had high hopes for this book but I struggled to get through it. Now it's not that it's badly written or has major editing problems, it's that from the start the characters jsut didn't feel real enough for me.

It started with the fact that the Dad goes out with his grown up sons and all three of them get themselves girls for the night and are completely blasé about it the next morning. Then of course the cell matte turns

I really really like this book!
Felt genuine, well paced. Nobody is perfect, they make mistakes, and own up to them without it being too much. It's well written. I love them both, love Craig's father and brother! I really like that his father acted like an asshole but he came around in his own time. And Kirk, so sweet, so strong, so patient and selfless and beautiful inside!

****4 Short Sexual Acceptance Stars****

I really enjoyed this short story by Louise Lyons, a new author to me. Craig and Rocky are in prison for a year together in the same cell and although Craig has never been with a man, he embarks in a purely sexual relationship with Rocky. Craig

I am always hesitant to read about prison stories because they tend to be a little rougher than I like, however this one takes place after the cell mates are released, so I decided to give it a try. It was much better than I expected and even though some parts might tick off a few people, I thought it was well written and realistic for the most part.

Craig and Kirk (Rocky) are not hardened criminals…one was in for fighting, the other was unlucky enough to be caught with a pocket full of party

After a year in prison for a fight, Craig is finally released and can return home to his father and brother, and his job at his father's company. He should be ecstatic, yet leaving his cell mate, Rocky behind is heartbreaking. They have become good friends and he is sad to leave. But Craig has no problem getting back into the swing of things, working with his father and brother during the week, and

This is a book about a straight man named Craig that goes to jail after getting into a fight. He has a roommate named Kirk and the two end up sleeping together for that year that Craig is incarcerated. Once Craig leaves jail and is back home he tries to go back to being a straight man but when Kirk is released from jail 6 months after Craig he shows up at Craig's house and things change from there shortly afterwards.

This in my opinion is a story about a man truly finding himself for the first

I enjoyed this fairly short read. It was quick enough to finish in an evening, with a good storyline and likable characters.

I'll admit to being a little wary---a book about prison sex turned to love has the potential for a cringe-worthy gay-for-you plot. However, I thought it was handled really well. Kirk (Rocky), who really is gay, obviously assumes it was meaningless for Craig. Meanwhile, Craig is having a genuine awakening. It stuck out to me how Craig is still processing but is willing to

This book was just ok for me. The writing was good but there were a few things that bothered me about the story. While I liked how easily Craig’s dad gave Kirk/Rocky a home and a job when he couldn’t find anything else, I didn’t like the dad always ‘going on the prowl’ with the kids. The fact that both boys and father went out and brought back women and could hear each other with them bothered me a lot. I didn’t care for Craig trying to force a relationship with a woman because he was afraid to ...more

I currently live in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, having moved from my home town of Grimsby in 2010. I come from a family of writers, although my Mum, Nana and Auntie have all written poetry. For me, it has always been fiction that drew me.Louise Lyons introductory photograph
