I liked so much this story and i had such a great time while i was reading it!!!
I laughed, i cried, i got excited, i got mad and i just couldn't put the book down!!!

Overall Opinion: I think I was expecting more from this one tbh. It has been on my tbr list for a while, because those that follow me know that I love a college football story! I just never could pull the trigger with the higher price it was selling for. I got it now because it was on sale for $0.99 on Amazon, and I'm so happy that I didn't pay more for it! I LOVED this book!

So normally, I’m real stingy when it comes to 5 stars on my reviews but Rush really worked for me. It pulled me out of my reading slump and gave me a great story. It had everything I love in a good book. It had romance, humor, chemistry, and awesome MCs.

I really liked Priscilla, she was a great h but Preston stole the show, he was just a perfect ten on the book boyfriend scale.

This is, IMHO, another winner by this talented author! It has a mix of angst, turmoil, humour and romance mixed with college life for a group of excellent sporting students. The story telling is great, as usual, well paced and packed with action. There are many surprises adding twists and turns to the journey to their HEA. The characters are well developed, with many secondary ones who really deserve to have their own stories in future, if only to reassure me they, too, will have a loving happy This is, IMHO, another winner by this talented author! It has a mix of angst, turmoil, humour and romance mixed with college life for a group of excellent sporting students. The story telling is great, as usual, well paced and packed with action. There are many surprises adding twists and turns to the journey to their HEA. The characters are well developed, with many secondary ones who really deserve to have their own stories in future, if only to reassure me they, too, will have a loving happy ending. Whilst honesty is supposedly the best policy, what if speaking out could cost you your chance to be a top sports person earning millions? What if not speaking out could cost the love of your life their chance at such a future? What if your family is poor and you could change that forever? Temptations, conflicting desires and worries all play important parts in this well crafted story.

Through the story the pressures on sporting students are explored as are the unexpected consequences of what were initially well intentioned actions which is how the two main characters initially met. Issues like the different treatment of athletes based on their gender, the financial temptations and manipulations, coping with family health and financial issues and so much more are included in this story. The characters are brilliantly portrayed and excellently developed, easy to relate to and empathise with. The plot focus isn’t solely on the romance, there’s a detailed plot with plenty to keep the reader turning the pages. Whilst it may well be written with new adults in mind, it works well for older readers (like me), too!

No ifs, no buts, definitely one I’ll be reading again - congratulations on another enthralling read I have no hesitation in highly recommending. I'll certainly be looking out for more by this author in future and really hope this proves to be the start of a new series.

I came across this book on Amazon and the cover made me buy it instantly. I didn't even read the blurb. Just 1-clicked based on the cover. And it was a solid investment. I'm a sucker for sports romance. I don't know why, it just calls to me. Apparently I'm a sucker for a hot cover too, haha!!

How wonderful! The silly smile won't leave my face after finishing this one.

This was definitely a new adult book, both our hero and heroine, Preston Rush and Priscilla Winslow, are in college, and it was definitely angsty, as is most new adult books. The difference here is that I felt Preston and Priscilla were a little more mature and smarter than most of their fictional counterparts. Their angst and struggle felt realer (is that a word?).

RUSH was my first Shae Ross book and it is a testament to how well it is written that I had no idea it was part of a series until I went to write this review. It not only works just fine as a standalone—it's really, really good.

It is no easy feat to pull off an angry female while still keeping her likable, and yet, Ms. Ross has done exactly that. Priscilla is a strong, outspoken female athlete who finds herself in the position to have to fight for something that means a lot to her. She's angry— RUSH was my first Shae Ross book and it is a testament to how well it is written that I had no idea it was part of a series until I went to write this review. It not only works just fine as a standalone—it's really, really good.

It is no easy feat to pull off an angry female while still keeping her likable, and yet, Ms. Ross has done exactly that. Priscilla is a strong, outspoken female athlete who finds herself in the position to have to fight for something that means a lot to her. She's angry—and rightfully so—but she's never mean or spiteful. She never loses sight of the fact that she's not the center of the universe. She's written in such a relatable way that you can't help but cheer for her and frankly, her outbursts and antics are hilarious and understandable. I loved this so much.

I also loved what Ms. Ross did for female collegiate sports here. I loved how Priscilla’s teammates (Jace!) rallied and fought for their place in the athletic hierarchy. These women were smart and fierce without ever—not once—feeling heavy-handed or overly dramatic. I loved the friendships and loyalty, and how the serious plot points were balanced with laugh out loud, quirky, funny moments. I just loved them. I loved this whole storyline!

As crazy as I was about how Ms. Ross portrayed the female athletes, I also adored how she wrote Preston. He's not a typical football hero. It was so easy to love him; he’s strong, honorable, and a bit of a rascal. He's funny and easygoing while also being fiercely protective and intensely hot. He's the perfect pair for Priscilla, and together they are a bona fide team. They respect each other. They support each other. And how that plays out was like a breath of fresh air—a subtle, but fresh twist on this much-loved trope.

RUSH was everything I love about football romances written in a way I didn't even know I was dying to read. Rush was my first read from this author. I really enjoyed it, though New Adult is not my typical go-to. I'm 33 now, and reading about 20-year-old college students falling in love often tries my patience.

Preston Rush is the star quarterback of the college football team. Priscilla Winslow is the star of the women's soccer team at the same university. This was already different than some of the other stories I've read, as the heroine was a star athlete, too. I liked that, and thought that gave the Rush was my first read from this author. I really enjoyed it, though New Adult is not my typical go-to. I'm 33 now, and reading about 20-year-old college students falling in love often tries my patience.

Preston Rush is the star quarterback of the college football team. Priscilla Winslow is the star of the women's soccer team at the same university. This was already different than some of the other stories I've read, as the heroine was a star athlete, too. I liked that, and thought that gave them more weight as equals. They have quite the eventful meeting at a Halloween party, then she jumps in to help him when he gets jumped later that night outside. They get arrested, and things go down hill from there for Priscilla.

Priscilla is dressed up as Little Bo Peep for the party when they meet, and he is Chewbacca. He calls her Peep throughout, as a nickname, which I found to be endearingly adorable. Of course, Priscilla is the one who gets in trouble after their arrest. She gets suspended from the team for the rest of the season, and can't get in touch with Preston for him to help her as a witness to her self-defense claim. Of course, she thinks he doesn't care, and is furious that he's faced no consequences whatsoever, as someone has pushed it under the rug for him.

When Preston finds out what happened, he vows to help her any way he can, even to the detriment of his own college/future pro career. She doesn't even realize what a big deal that is, as she is unaware of his family life, and what he's done for them in the past that could come back and bite him. Of course, their relationship builds from there, with several stops and starts, along the way. Priscilla has trust issues from her dad walking out and her mom falling apart because of it. Preston doesn't want to get close to anyone because his family life is difficult, and he doesn't know if he can trust anyone with his secrets either. They struggle to trust each other as the story goes on. Plenty of people in the periphery of their lives make that extremely difficult at different times, including some of his teammates.

I enjoyed both characters separately, and together. I enjoyed their groups of friends, and their families as well. I really appreciated that Preston had strong moral convictions about doing the right thing for Priscilla, regardless of what the consequences might be for his own life. That's pretty impressive for a guy in his early 20's. However, though I understand the impulse, I didn't like that he didn't trust her with his secrets, and believe the fact that she wanted to fight for him too. The epilogue is nice, but we only get a Happy For Now ending, though I guess that's to be expected with their age, etc. Also, I felt like Preston got the short end of the stick on how everything worked out. Though he seemed at peace and said he had no regrets about the outcome, I couldn't help but feel badly for him. I can only hope that it didn't affect his future prospects over much. There were some great side characters, and I'd definitely be interested in further books focusing on some of them, and getting a future glimpse of what life is now like for Preston & Peep.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I look forward to more from this author! ...more

From the beginning Preston grabbed a hold of my heart and held on tight and ran for the end zone never letting go. He proves time and again that he is a man of his word and has a bigger heart than he does muscles... which is saying a lot with those washboard abs, bulging biceps, and delectable V. He is a drool worthy hero who proves he is more than just another tight end.

Shae Ross delivers a story of conspiracy, secrecy, sizzling passion, and the difference between right and wrong. This isn't just another tale of the hero making the winning touchdown. It's about not sitting on the sidelines watching the illegal plays, but instead jumping in and making things right. Rush is told in dual narrative between Priscilla and Preston, and from the very first moment I knew I was going to love them. The first scene in the book shows them at a Halloween party and they are dressed up as chewbacca and little bo peep. They cracked me up in that scene, and then the you know what all hit the fan and I was surprised for a whole different reason. I didn't expect all that to happen, and that one event shapes a good majority of the rest of the book. I enjoyed that this was just as much about getting Priscilla back on the soccer field as it was a romance between Priscilla and Preston.

Shae Ross knows how to write my kind of romance. This is from her amazon bio and it perfectly sums up the characters in her book, and why I love them so much. "She loves strong heroines and sexy alpha heroes who deliver stories filled with sass, smarts and sizzle." Umm, YES PLEASE! And I am here to tell you that she does a darn good job doing just that. Her characters sell the story. They are just so much fun to read. I love the rapid fire banter and the sass galore that all the girls have. And her guys are just as excellent. They all have that smoldering thing down pat. It just all works for me. I feel like Shae Ross writes book tailor made for me. We are like romance-reader-soul-sisters.

Bottom line: If you like your contemporary romance with strong and sassy female characters and equally swoon worthy and smoldering male characters, Rush is a new adult sports romance to check out. I had a blast reading this one. Shae Ross is one of my new favorites for new adult romance.

Preston Rush isn't your typical collegiate superstar athlete. He has a reputation and a past but he's no manwhore and there is so much more substance to him than just an athlete. He hasn't had the greatest life but works at making it better for himself and his family and he is determined to do it the right way. He doesn't have ti I absolutely LOVED this book!!

He doesn't have time for girls, they are distraction that he just can't afford as he tries to ensure his future. Until he meets Priscilla Winslow and both of their lives are turned upside down.

Priscilla is also a star athlete who is focused on perfecting her skills and securing her future and the last thing she wants is to get tangled up with the trouble that Preston is bound to bring. Sure enough when she steps up to help him out she risks losing everything she's worked so hard for. Even worse, she has to watch as he walks away without repercussions from his part in landing them in jail and doesn't even bother to show up when he could've helped her walk away too. Priscilla was a little on the angry side but she has every right and frankly it was refreshing to see a female lead who wasn't willing to just give up on her dreams to make sure that the hero's dream comes first.
The slow-burning, but very obvious chemistry between Priscilla and Preston was palpable and the slow build up to them falling in love was realistic and sweet and at times a little heartbreaking.

Make no mistake though, this wasn't JUST a romance. The author brilliantly touched on NCAA rules and regulations, player dynamics, sports-focused gender inequality, the lure of money and the evil of power in collegiate/professional sports. It just made the romantic relationship between Preston and Priscilla that much more interesting and unique.

I can't really say enough about this story and I know that this will be a book I'll revisit time and time again. I can even see past the fact that the author is a product of the wrong Michigan team and will be looking forward to many more good reads from her.

Fans of sports romance are going to enjoy this quick, witty, fun-filled new adult romance! This is the first story that I've read by Shae Ross, and I really enjoyed it! College Senior, Priscilla Winslow, is the captain of the women's soccer team, and is excited because her team is going to the finals. College Quarterback, Preston Rush is the star of his team, and is excited to play in the championship. His future is set, as he is already being scouted for the NFL!

Fans of sports romance are going to enjoy this quick, witty, fun-filled new adult romance! This is the first story that I've read by Shae Ross, and I really enjoyed it! College Senior, Priscilla Winslow, is the captain of the women's soccer team, and is excited because her team is going to the finals. College Quarterback, Preston Rush is the star of his team, and is excited to play in the championship. His future is set, as he is already being scouted for the NFL!

Priscilla and Preston's lives collide when they meet at a Halloween Party. Preston is attracted to the beautiful and sexy "Little Bo Peep," and Priscilla feels fireworks, when she see's the gorgeous man behind the Chewie costume. However, things take a turn for the worse, when Preston gets jumped by some pirates, and "Peep" has to come to the rescue with her cane! This lands both of them in jail for the night, and a whole lot of trouble that they never saw coming!

I enjoyed the main characters in Rush. Priscilla was a strong, independent, and ambitious woman. However, at times she drove me a little crazy by trying to deny the connection that she felt towards Preston, and how hard she could be on him. Preston was a stand-up man. He was super close to his small-knit family, and did everything he could to make their lives better. His integrity, and the way that he always did the right thing, no matter how hard it was, endeared him to me. Secondary characters that stood out to me were Priscilla's feisty, loyal, and courageous best friend Jace, as well as her big loving, protective, and hilarious brother Ben.

The chemistry and connection between Priscilla and Preston grew throughout the story, and was super hot. I also loved the connections that they made with each other's families. The banter between all of the character's was fun, light-hearted, and entertaining. The plot of the story was suspenseful, as well as romantic, and humorous.

My Rating:

I give, Rush, by Shae Ross, 3.5 Greed, Danger, Chemistry, Laugh Aloud, Swooning, The Perfect Man Filled Stars! I'm looking forward to reading more by Shae Ross, and hope that Priscilla's best friend, Jace, gets her own story soon!

Shae Ross has firmly planted herself in my favorite author pile. You might be asking why, at this point. Well, her characters have depth, emotion, they give you the feels, they make you laugh, they make you cry, they frustrate you. You get mad at them, you pick sides, you I was so excited for Rush to come out and when I finally got it, I devoured it from cover to back. Pretty sure I didn’t put it down even once. It has taken me forever, though, to write up the full review on it. Let’s get to it!

Shae Ross has firmly planted herself in my favorite author pile. You might be asking why, at this point. Well, her characters have depth, emotion, they give you the feels, they make you laugh, they make you cry, they frustrate you. You get mad at them, you pick sides, you completely connect with them and in the end, you absolutely love them. For me, any book, any writer that can accomplish that is a complete knockout.

Rush was no different. I knew about the book prior to it coming out. I was so excited to read Priscilla’s book. You’re actually introduced to her in Fearless (Part of the Pretty Smart Girls series she’s one of Ben’s younger sisters). I was enamored with her as soon as I started reading about her.

Before I go further, and since I mentioned the above, Rush is a full-length standalone novel. Yes, Priscilla is in Fearless, but Rush is not part of the Pretty Smart Girls series. The story is told from a dual POV between the main characters, Priscilla and Preston. Slow and Rush! There is an HEA here and no cliffy.

As for the characters, if you don’t love them, I’d be shocked. They are hilarious. The situations they get themselves into, the gauntlet of feelings that you run with them, and even the books secondary characters are fantastic. One of my favorite parts of this book would have to be how the main characters meet. I laughed so hard at it at one point that I got a side stitch. On top of that, you have the fun rivalry in Rush like you’ve seen in previous Shae Ross books. (If you’ve read them.) The characters go head-to-head in certain instances and it just makes it a great read.

Absolute 5 stars here. I’ve even been thinking of rereading it lately because I can’t get parts of it out of my head.

What phenomenal story telling! I loved everything about this book. Once I started I just couldn't put it down. The initial meeting between both main characters was original and entertaining. Did you see that cover? Holy Moses, those are some HOT abs, and I must admit it's the main reason I wanted to read this book. Jocks are my weakness, add some sexy washboard abs to the cover and you can pretty much guarantee I'm going to read it.

Thank goodness for new (to me) authors! I loved this book. It was such a great read. This book was about a star football player and soccer player... but it was also about so much more. Priscilla is the captain of the women’s soccer team at her university. She loves soccer and can’t wait to go to the championships (they’re almost there). Unfortunately, going to a Halloween party puts that all in jeopardy. She is at a bar with a friend dressed as Bo Peep (her sister stole her ninja costume and left her with the BP costume) when she heads to the bathroom after a few drinks. She meets a guy dressed as Chewbacca in the hallway outside the bathroom and something about the eyes behin Priscilla is the captain of the women’s soccer team at her university. She loves soccer and can’t wait to go to the championships (they’re almost there). Unfortunately, going to a Halloween party puts that all in jeopardy. She is at a bar with a friend dressed as Bo Peep (her sister stole her ninja costume and left her with the BP costume) when she heads to the bathroom after a few drinks. She meets a guy dressed as Chewbacca in the hallway outside the bathroom and something about the eyes behind the mask get to her. Not long after that interaction Priscilla heads out the back door of the bar to get a breath of fresh air and sees Chewbacca getting beaten up. She tries to intervene but makes no headway so she decides to pull the fire alarm when no one will help her. The cops come and arrest both Priscilla and Chewbacca (aka Preston Rush who is the quarterback of the football team) and throw them in a cell.

Priscilla ends up going before the Athletic Board and gets suspended for the remainder of the year. She’s despondent about the outcome as she was just trying to help someone out and she’s pissed off because she had left a letter for Preston to tell him when the AB meeting was so that he could be her witness to the events but he didn’t show.

Preston is quite taken with Priscilla and when he sees that she’s pissed off at him he can’t understand it. He wanted to help but never received her letter. He swears he’ll help her (as his charges were dropped) but that means going before the AB and telling them his part in the matter which will get him suspended from the football team when they’re about to go to the National Championship. His teammates get wind of what he’s planning and don’t like it at all.

Preston and Priscilla get closer the more time they spend together but Preston is keeping secrets and Priscilla’s not sure if she can completely trust that when her appeal comes around he’ll actually be there for her.

This was my first read by this author and it was a good one. I really liked her writing style and the way she slowly brought the characters together. The romantic and sexual tension between the two MC’s was intense and I loved it.

There were several things about this story that I really enjoyed. Of course the romance was one of them as I enjoyed seeing Preston and Priscilla come together. I admired Preston so, so much. He had a good head on his shoulder, cared about his family and his teammates and tried to live his life with honor. Yes, he’d screwed up at one point but since then he’d been trying to do the right thing. He was also trying to help his teammates do the right thing as well and his show of support for them made me like him even more. His support of Priscilla despite the ramifications of his coming clean to the AB made me want to throw my arms around him and hug him to death.

Priscilla was a strong character. When Preston didn’t show up for the first AB meeting I loved how she didn’t let him get away with it. She wasn’t afraid to get angry with him and tell him exactly how she felt. Loved that!

Overall this was a great New Adult sport romance. It was nice to have both the hero and the heroine involved in sports and not just the hero as it added another element to the book that I hadn’t read in other stories. I liked Shae Ross’s writing and will be going back to read the other two books in this series.

She is suspended from the soccer team right before their championship playoffs. Her scholarship is in jeopardy. She is no longer eligible to be a collegiate athlete.

Preston promises to help Priscilla out and testify at her hearing. There are several parties that don’t want Preston testifying. It could expose a multitude of problems for the football program and individual players that are breaking the rules. It could ruin the entire football program.

Together Priscilla and Preston unravel the mystery behind the attack that led to the bar fight and arrest. The secrets could ruin quite a few athletes, the school program, and administrator/ coach careers.

It is no longer an issue of what sport is more important. It is a legal issue.

Priscilla and Preston not only come together as athletes, they also find love in the midst of the mess.

The meet-cute was unique and hilarious and set the tone for the rest of the story and I knew right away that I was in for an amazing ride.

Preston Rush isn't your typical collegiate superstar athlete. He has a reputation and a past but he's no manwhore and there is so much more substance to him than just an athlete. He doesn't have time for girls, they are distraction that he just can't afford as he tries to ensure his future. Until he meets Priscilla Winslow and both of their lives are turned upside down.

Priscilla is also a star athlete who is focused on perfecting her skills and securing her future and the last thing she wants is to get tangled up with the trouble that Preston is bound to bring. Sure enough when she steps up to help him out she risks losing everything she's worked so hard for. Even worse, she has to watch as he walks away without repercussions from his part in landing them in jail and doesn't even bother to show up when he could've helped her walk away too. Priscilla was a little on the angry side but she has every right and frankly it was refreshing to see a female lead who wasn't willing to just give up on her dreams to make sure that the hero's dream comes first.
The slow-burning, but very obvious chemistry between Priscilla and Preston was palpable and the slow build up to them falling in love was realistic and sweet and at times a little heartbreaking.

Make no mistake though, this wasn't JUST a romance. The author brilliantly touched on NCAA rules and regulations, player dynamics, sports-focused gender inequality, the lure of money and the evil of power in collegiate/professional sports. It just made the romantic relationship between Preston and Priscilla that much more interesting and unique.

I can't really say enough about this story and I know that this will be a book I'll revisit time and time again. I can even see past the fact that the author is a product of the wrong Michigan team and will be looking forward to many more good reads from her.

I saw this book recommended in a book group I am a part of and trusting the girl that swore by it, I one clicked it quick style. I also happen to love me a college sports romance story, it's my jam yo! So I was excited to start this one.

Beautiful writing!

This book was just plain amazing. When you start reading a sports romance you assume that it won't be much different than the last. However this book let you see a behind the scenes look at how athletes come about. Some was heartbreaking and some was not. The only thing that could of made this book any better would of been Moses coming out on top with his personal home life. I'm assuming things worked out for him in the end but it sure would of been nice to read. Also I wish th ...more

Priscilla is a soccer player who comes from a fairly well off family but her life is far from perfect due to parental issues. She is close to her siblings despite their occasional squabbles. She too is on her way up in her career as well as being dedicated to those less fortunate than Preston is the college quarter back who has a successful career ahead of him. He comes from a poor family which makes him more determined to get to the top in order to help his family have a more comfortable life.

Priscilla is a soccer player who comes from a fairly well off family but her life is far from perfect due to parental issues. She is close to her siblings despite their occasional squabbles. She too is on her way up in her career as well as being dedicated to those less fortunate than herself.

Preston and Priscilla come across each other at a fancy dress party and there is this instant attraction between them. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse when Preston finds himself being physically assaulted. Priscilla witnesses the incident and immediately goes to the rescue. They both end up in the same cell in jail. They form this casual relationship or so they think! When the implications of what's happened hit them, they both realise that their careers might well be in jeopardy. The consequences for Priscilla are pretty harsh and even though she is attracted Preston, she can't help but blame him, especially when he is not available for any assistance. Priscilla is quick to jump to conclusions. The problem is that she is still attracted to Preston who thinks that she hates him.

As the story unfolds, they both learn more about each other but Preston is keeping a secret, partly out of shame and partly to protect Priscilla. She is not aware of the reasons why he refuses to divulge what he is hiding from her. To make matters worse, Amelia, Preston's ex puts more doubt in Priscilla's head. This is where trust or lack of comes into play.

I like the way Priscilla and Preston interact with each other. Their relationship is a gradual build up which leads to the question, are they or aren't they? Preston is eager to get to the top but that doesn't stop him from doing what he thinks is right at the cost of possibly losing his chances. Priscilla jumps to the wrong conclusions on more than one occasion but she doesn't hide behind her insecurities. She owns up and readily apologises. She is also dedicated to her team and to those in need.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. It's full of fun and laughter. There are uncertainties, greed, corruption, bullying, friendship and loyalty. The love between Preston and Priscilla is very palpable even when they think that they have to eventually part ways.

It's very well written. I love the storyline where all the characters are believable. Preston and Priscilla both shine throughout the story. I would fully recommend this New Adult Romance to other readers.
