“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways. Then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Australian author and former missionary to the Solomon Islands, Ian Malins uses this verse to explore the conditions that we as Christians must fulfill before God will act and send revival.
The book is divided into nine parts containing several small chapters. Topics covered include: preparing the way for revival, the conditions of revival, the need to have a passion for God’s presence, intimacy with God, the need for repentance, what happens when the Spirit comes in power, the fruit of revival, maintaining renewal and, finally, how we can prepare for revival.
In the initial chapters Malins focuses on each condition in turn, i.e. brokenness (humility), dependence (prayer), intimacy (seeking the Lord) and repentance. He provides clear explanations and examples to show how God will act to bring revival in answer to the faithful prayers of His church.
The rest of the book focuses on what happens in revival if the church has prepared by following the conditions, i.e. God will hear from heaven, forgive sin and heal the land. Malins clearly explains what revival is as well as what it is not, using illustrations from the bible, past revivals and personal experience. .
Designed for personal and group use, each chapter ends with questions for further reflection. The writing is clear and simple and easy to understand.

A succinct book that is covered in short, scripture filled chapters. Ideal for a bible study, but especially great for that personal journey of growing closer to God and developing a heart for what moves Him. Great examples of previous revivals and how God moves in many ways.
