Summer of Irreverence is one of those underrated stories that caught my attention because of its unique title and cute cover. Malcolm and Summer’s story actually took me by surprise – it is simple, cute and easy to get into. Reading Summer of Irreverence is very timely to the summer season that is approaching in the States as well.

Malcolm Angel is a famous rock star with a dark past who believes nothing about love. He has his own girl conquests each night and always got nothing more to give than

Summer Wynters - yes , that's her real name has been living the straight-laced life ever since her parents died when she was sixteen. She sees that her one act of rebellion played a part in their death . However, this has caused some of her life choices - to be well-rather boring including her pick of men. Summer had the chance to be with Mr. Perfect - Dr. Brad but he didn't spark her excitement in the bedroom. In fact, everywhere else he was controlling but in the bedroom he tended to be a wimp ...more

Love this. I love how malcolm sees himself as not worthy and the guilt he has that keeps him from allowing himself to love. I love how there is more to Malcolm than what is seen. He is a smart thoughtful guy and it is Summer who gets him to go back to who he was before the heartwrenching moment in his life that turned him into not believing in love and that he was worthy of anything but being alone. I also love his dog Winston. He helps to bring Summer and Malcolm together. How? When Summer come ...more

Reading the synopsis, I expected more. The first line was a good opening but it started off rocky, a little dragged with conversation until the main point really came up.

Summer Wynters (haha, even Malcolm jokes about her name) wants to be… had, in her words. She has ever been in only one relationship which was with her professor Dr. Brad, and intercourse with him sucks. She wants to be with a man for once and actually experience all the j

This book was beautiful. It has its funny moments and it has its sad moments. The sad moments were tear-jerkers. Malcolm's background especially. And Summer . . . drop-dead gorgeous, looks like a model, but she's a vet-surgeon. I love how the relationship develops and how Malcolm and Summer are conflicted about the way they feel. When the lie unfolds . . . Amazingly written and well portrayed.

I've wanted to read this one for a while and was finally able to fit it in this weekend. To be honest, it didn't start off very well. Dialogue in the first chapter is choppy and confusing, bouncing around between thoughts in the conversation. The second chapter flows better and from then on, it's a much smoother read.

This book was so very cute. It was just what I needed to get out of my book slump caused by Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Mist and Fury. Which, if you haven’t read, go read it. But back to Summer of Irreverence: The Rock Star which I will call SOI because that title is so dang long.
Like I said, this book was very cute. The story was a fast paced romance that left me feeling so very happy for the characters in the end. It is set in summer time so right now is the perfect time to go and read it. Set o

Fan of sexy rock star and second chance love? If your answer is yes and it should be, then you should definitely pick up Catherine Goldstein’s latest release Summer of Irreverence. It has all the feel good elements that I find very important to any good read. I will admit I was slightly nervous before decided to give Summer of Irreverence a chance despite the fact I’ve enjoyed previous work of Catherine, but that was within a different genre lucky me her talents knows no bounds.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy The Summer of Irreverence: The Rock Star as much as I would have liked. At first, it seemed promising, but after a while I felt more and more disinterested in the story and its characters.

I'm not sure if the MC's original idea was the best, but soon after she meets Malcolm, they get into a relationship. I'm not sure how to explain this, but as the romance developed, I started to become more disengaged in it. I cared for the characters, but there perhaps wasn't enoug

WoW…….. what a change of scenery Summer Irreverence was!!

Catherine Goldstein is another new author for me, but I enjoyed this novel that much I will be making it a mission of mine to continue reading more of her work.

This novel was a change of pace for me, I mean a veterinary surgeon, and a rock star…….. what are the odds?

When Summer Wynters decides she wants more from her life than what she has she, she spends her last free summer break bef

This book was a quick and heart warming read. I loved Malcolm's character simply because of the way he treated his best friend; his dog. I also really liked the main character Summer and how normal and real she felt as a character. I liked the fact that she pursued her passion for animals and enjoyed reading about her relationship mishaps, her cynical view about love and her logical scientific explanations for everything. The

Thanks to net gallery for the ARC. This book totally rocks!!!

What a fun read! The characters were so good in this book, they were complicated and yet fun. So many good things about this book, the complex past of Malcom, the current situation Summer is in, and if they will have a future together. The cow delivery was such a turning point in the book, it was crazy how everything happen. It was wild. I loved Winston in this book, what a sweet doggie! The ending was so GOOD!!! What a gut wrenching, powerful, and inspiring book all rolled into one. This is a book of new beginnings with several bumps along the way.
It opens with two childhood friends Summer Wynters taking the summer for herself. After being in college and veterinary school, to become a surgeon. She also just got out of a year and half relationship with Dr. Brad her professor and future boss. But she was not only feeling stagnant in her life but she was feeling unfulfilled in the bedroom. Ahhhh, this was such a good book! “Summer of Irreverence” by Cathrine Goldstein is her recent romance novel about Summer and Malcolm, and it’s a definite page-turner. Summer is a veterinary surgeon who has time off over the summer before starting her new job. She visits her fashion model friend Jeanette in New York City and decides that she wants and needs something different and exciting in her life. That something different is rock superstar, Malcolm Angel, whose band is managed by Jeanette’s ...more

3.5 “Summer is the best season" Stars

I requested “Summer of Irreverence” expecting a steamy read about a rock star and a “normal” girl falling in love. I got a sweet romance book, instead, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t an enjoyable read.

Summer (the girl, not the season) is looking for a summer (the season, not the girl) adventure that will rock her world. After being in a relationship with a man who didn’t satisfy her needs, she’s ready to spend one night with someone who will make her forget

Summer of Irreverence tells the story of Summer, a newly qualified vet, and Malcolm, rock star extraordinaire. It is a standalone novel written from dual third person POV. It is basically a short but sweet romance but suffers from flaws and inconsistencies.

My main issue with the book appeared on the first few pages when Summer explains to her friend Jeannette that professor Brad, her ex-boyfriend and ex-professor, wasn’t enough of a man because he was all for equality and always made sure he got

I feel cheated! I requested this book because the blurb sounded interesting, but also because Netgalley had it in the New Adult category, so, being a sucker for NA, I requested it. This book is not NA!

Summer is a 28 yo veterinary surgeon, and my problems started with her. The plot balances on the fact that Summer has the need to “feel like a woman” because she was never “had”, as in, her ex boyfriend treated her too much like an equal, and while I do think that most of those

I’m a sucker for the rock star romance trope so requested this. It was a light and fun read but....

I missed the intensity I expect in this trope, the jealousy, the groupies, the drugsnsexnrocknroll media sh it storm that almost always finds its way into this trope, and that make it such a great read for me.

Summer Wynters, improbably-named veterinary surgeon, is fresh out of her training and fresh off a break-up with Dr. Brad, her former professor and future practice partner. Summer wants a summer of flings, to bed a bad boy before she falls into the staid life. Her sights are set on mega star Malcolm Angel, an acquaintance of her childhood friend, Jeannette.

Meeting Malcolm comes with a caveat: he’s a one-night only guy who only dates models. That’s it. Take it or leave it. Summer will have to pose

This book is a quick, light-hearted read with some brilliant character building for such a quick read. The great thing about a quirky contemporary romance is that the situations (while entirely hilarious) are plausible. In a distant, far off galaxy they could very well happen.

The I literally laughed out loud when I found out Summer’s full name. This character, who needed to get out of her life to appreciate herself is very relatable. Her development through the book and her history of relationsh

I'm a big fan of the rock star falls in love with an ordinary girl trope; it's one of the ultimate fantasies. So when I read the blurb for this book, I was sold. And this book was good, but it wasn't great.
The first problem for me was the lack of supporting characters. The only person we got to know at all was Jeanette, who I found completely unlikeable. I wanted Summer to have a friend who supported her, and I wanted to know more about Malcolm's bandmates. I think the author really missed the m

I have really opposing feelings about this one. On the one hand, Summer and Malcom's story is full of emotion and sensuality. I enjoyed the build up and the fact that it wasn't a typical instalove rock star book. However, I found that the characters often behaved or spoke in a way more suited for a NA novel than one about people in their late 20's and 30's. This often pulled me out of the story. I was able to get back in fairly easily and actually shed some tears throughout. Overall, it was a ve ...more
