Scott Pilgrim, Volume 3: Scott Pilgrim & The Infinite Sadness
This is the third book (in a series of six) of “Scott Pilgrim” saga.
Creator, writer and illustrator: Bryan Lee O’Malley
PILGRIM’S PATH INTERMIXES
Look, it’s almost 3:30…
Right. It’s almost 3:30, and we’ve been here for a quarter of this book. Let’s call it a night.
In the second book, you get flashback chapters of Scott’s past life when he was still a teenager, and while you get basically the same here, there is a key difference here. In the second book, the scenes ...more
I didn’t love this third volume as much as the last two though I remember adoring it the first time I read it. Maybe because I remembered this volume more, it didn’t surprise me as much? But I think it was becaus ...more
Oh, Scott Pilgrim, always stay cool. Oh wait, I already finished all the volumes and... yes, you are always cool.
This volume picked up speed from the normal story because the big reveal about Envy finally arrived. I had been wondering about her since the first volume because all of the times she was kind of mentioned were pointing obviously to her importance.
I really enjoyed the back story in volume 3 and seeing Scott kind of functioning... once. Don't ...more
There are some issues the series (as far as volumes two are three are concerned) have. The book's flashback scenes are inserted here and there like crazy. Most of the time they are appropriate, but there are times when these flashbacks conf ...more
It's another great volume with humor, romance and action... and Scott finally gets a haircut
Bryan Lee O'Malley flexed a lot of different muscles in creating this volume. It has at least two main arcs but I'm highlighting two: the first one was Scott Pilgrim's current battle with evil ex number three Todd Ingram; and the second story was a series of flashback that shows Scott and Envy Adams' love story and breakup that lead to the eponymous Infinite Sadness. If one would notice, O'Malley ...more
Oh and conveniently Envy is connected to one of Ramona's ex boyfriends. Small world.
Scott get's a haircut.
So yeah. No change in my opinion of this series at all. This is the volume I enjoyed t ...more
Ramona (American) - How come Canada has the queen on its money
Scott (Canadian) - Shh! Do you think it's easy being Britain's plaything?
Scott: We do what that old lady wants. She says "jump" and we say "how high" and "should we smile wider?"
Ramona: This is so much crap, Scott
O'Malley's storytelling style is perplexing in many regards. About 80% of the time it's a slice-of-life view of a Canadian loser in a band who's barely keeping things together in any aspect of his life.
The weirdness comes with the remaining 20%, where he engages in anime-style pa ...more
You can't date Ramona unless you agree to take on every ex-boyfriend she has ever had. Scott might not be a typical violent guy, but he can hold his own battles. This was a no-brainer for him. But what about Scott exes? Would Ramona fight for him as well?
Although, I don't agree with the whole love fights -- the Scott Pilgrim series is written as a video game. The books are humorous, and filled with music bands subplots, giving them an extra touch of creativity. It was ...more
I feel like this was nearly exactly the same as the first two. The art is decent, the jokes are good, but the story isn't really going anywhere in this one. We learn a little about Scott's past and Ramona's is hinted at, but other than that there's no character development.
The way it started off, I wondered if I had accidentally picked up Volume Four and missed something, but soon the plot got moving. The characters are hard to tell apart, especially from far away, but they're cutely drawn in a...more
This volume is about Envy, as much as it is for Scott. The second volume hyped Envy as much as it could, so the author had to deliver on that promise and it did. This series continues to deliver full marks; so from t ...more
"That glowy thing by the door."
"What are you talking about?"
"That, uh, thing."
"I think it's a save point."
Lazily picking up where Sex Bob-omb's story left off, Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers and company stand face to to face with Ramona's third evil ex...
And one of Scott's.
Envy Adams, Scott's bandmate and girlfriend from university who broke his heart, has resurfaced, this time in the form of an alt rock band, playing alongside Todd, Ramona's ex with SuperVegan powers. ...more
In this volume, Scott encounters his old girlfriend Envy whom he is still obsessing over a year and a half after their epic break-up that may or may not have involved his getting a bad haircut. She's in town with her madly successful-and evil-alt roc ...more
The stuff about how veganism gives you super powers was really funny and Bryan Lee O’Malley reaches new levels of fantasy by drawing a scene mentioned in “It’s a Wonder ...more
