I used to read a lot of Young Adult, Fiction and Fantasy books before. My little sister mentioned to me a few weeks ago that she started reading this genre. I decided that it would be a good thing to join her in this adventure, and to read some of the books she is reading.

I have also asked for recommendations on the bookshelf that I made especially for this, and received so many responses. Thank you to all of you who contributed, and this is the

"What is it with this town and cheerleaders?”

The story opens with Harper Madison, a highly powered and beautiful young female (of course), coming to a new home for wayward girls who get kicked out of other foster homes. New town, new home, new school, new rules. It appears she’s come home to roost here though, since this turns out to be the school and town where it’s all started for her.

The story and writing style eventually improve after the first few chapters, but overall the story is too juv

I've had this book for a while and I don't know what force made me pick it up this time around, but I am glad I did. Beautiful Demons is the beginning of what it looks like a great series, revolving round Harper and her new life in Peachville. Harper always knew she was different. When she is angry she can make things move with her mind. But arriving at Peachville, she finds out she is not the only special girl. A lot of the successful women of the town seem to have similar powers to

I had a really hard time with the main character in this book, and I'm not sure it's her fault. Which is to say that the author kept robbing her of volition and that got old really fast and never really went away. This was achieved mainly by removing her memory of key events, leaving her walking around vulnerable all the time and acting on too little information. There was some hint of greater manipulation, too, and that put me off even further.

I wanted to like the book in spite of this weakness

Ok to be honest when I picked up this book to read and realized it was so short I did not expect much….

Boy was I wrong, now don’t mistake that for saying it was amazing. For the length of the book it was very good. The characters were all pretty good, I feel like we need more Jackson though and enough of the cheerleaders. It almost reminded me of the season Coven from American Horror Story.

Harper Madison has been shipped from foster care home to foster care home since she was 10 years old. Known as a troubled child with violent tendencies she’s never spent enough time in one place to ever feel a sense of belonging. Strange things happen around Harper, especially when Harper feels threatened or scared and those strange things usually end up with someone being hurt. Although Harper has never intentionally hurt anyone she is blamed just the same and Harper carries the guilt, shame an ...more

Man, it feels like forever since I’ve posted a review. Life has just been hectic lately. But fear not, I will never give up reading/reviewing. I started this book because my baby sister has been singing its praises and quite honestly, I saw that the first one was free on Amazon and figured I had nothing to lose. I had seen this book before, but the cover didn’t really grab my attention and I don’t like downloading books I’m not s

I....How......But....I'm not exactly sure what to say. I mean...Woah! Just Woah. that's all I'm thinking.

This wasn't exactly what I expected. It was far from it, actually.

I went into this book knowing I'd get mad, and a little confused. But I didn't expect to be mind-blown.

I am very upset with the ending, because, well...I like Jackson better. In alll honesty I hope drake dies or something terrible happens to him, because...well HE ISN'T JACKSON!!!

Umm....I was upset when Jackson didn't jump in

Beautiful Demons pulls you in from the first page and never lets down in the pacing. It's a fast and very entertaining read. I've been wanting to read this series for a while, because of the pretty covers and titles. Currently Beautiful Demons is available for free, but I don't know how long that will last.

I really liked the main character, Harper Madison. She gets moved in a group home after bouncing around from foster care homes, due to getting into tro

After being kicked out of her sixth foster home in a year, Harper gets told she's got one more chance. If she she blows it, she'll be taken to juvie until she's eighteen.
That last chance comes in the form of Shadowford home, a place for girls struggling with the care system.
On the first day of school Harper can see that the cheerleaders rule the social side of the school. They're thought of like queens. Everyone Harper talks too are obsessed with them, but Harper can feel there's something not

I really enjoyed this one - a great YA paranormal read. High-school, and yeh I know, that comes with the resident bitch(s). Because, life's like that. I know I've read this one before, but could only remember the beginningish.

And yeh, the orphan thing, agaiiin. But's it works out fairly good in this work, although you know, as usual, it's all about her mother.

Still, a good read. Mandatory sexy guys, beaut

This book was entertaining, but just in an okay sense. It has a decent plot base but a bit cliche. The writing was decent enough but there were some parts where I didn't like the writing. This book also felt a bit rushed many times and the scenes and actions felt like they were going way too fast. I did like the main character and the twist at the ending, but many of the characters felt bland. I will be reading the next one and probably at least to the third because the ebooks were free.

Oh, I loved this book! Loved it! I wanted to give it a try as it seems to be a pretty popular and well-liked series and now I can see why. It was a whole lot of fun and very, very addictive. It's also very short which is good because it makes it an easy and light read but bad because it leaves you craving more the second you finish the last page!

Beautiful Demons starts off with Harper moving to a new home. She's had a tough life (since weird and dangerous stuff happens wherever she goes) and thi

Note: There is a separate, distinct rating system I have in my head for novels I read for free.

You know you're in the wrong town when a random dude helps you (commands you?) to pick out a backpack that sports the same colors as everyone else.

OR IS IT THE RIGHT TOWN? It's hard for our heroine (or us) to know for sure, because she keeps having her memory altered. Or something. But there are powers. Women have them. Except for the dude. Who she keeps forgetting. In a literal sense. Who begs her no

Wow. So 2012 is starting off with a bit of a bang isn't it? The first book I read was slightly lackluster, but this, my fifth book of the year, was absolutely stunning. I'm giving it five stars without reservation. Have I mentioned that this was my first ever eBook?

This book is definitely a plot driven book. It's more about the twists and turns of it all than it is about its characters. In fact, the only fleshed out, or character with beginnings of being fleshed out, is Harper. Harper is a prett

I'm a very generous rater. I am a VERY generous rater. I think my average rating is like almost four. Or four something or whatever. I am very generous in my ratings.

Plus, I tend to avoid bad books like the plague, and if I do read a bad book, I always tend to give stars for the potential that the book had.

I literally just finished this book and want to pick up the next in the series (and probably the one after that and the one after that until I finish the entire thing!).

Sarra Cannon did an amazing job bringing to life Harper Madison, a foster kid who has special abilities. When she moves to Peachville, not everything is as it seems, which Madison soon finds out. I wondered what happened when things went from bad to perfect for Harper, but I definitely didn't see the end coming! OMG! Wow! That ju

This was such an awesome first book in a dark world of magic and cheerleaders! I'm so excited to continue Harper's journey as she finds out the answers that even I'm dying to know. She was such a great character, misunderstood and different. But she had heart and just wanted to fit into Peachville High when all her other homes she felt out of place. I can't wait to see more of the characters and learn their secrets!

I love Sarra for her Heart Breathings YouTube channel (as well as her personal one) and have been following her and just loving how much she shares with readers and the writing community, and then I thought, duh, why am I not reading her books, especially when some of them are free?

This was a great escape from a super busy time of the year, and I immediately found myself drawn into Harper's drama. Sarra's strength is clearly characterization, and really, wherever these characters would be, they

Beautiful Demons was a book that I stumbled across while perusing the free Kindle books on the Kindle store. Honestly (and yes, I am aware that this is TOTALLY horrible!), I fell in love with the cover art and decided to give it a shot. I thought worst case, I don’t like it and I click delete. No big deal. Well, I am happy to report that this was not the case.

Granted, this read like a typical teenage paranormal-girl just discovering her powers, trying to fit in at a new school, the usual high school drama complete with bullies, and the usual romantic triangle. But I liked it. I thought Harper made a fun point of view to follow, it balanced nicely between school drama and paranormal with enough fantasy elements to keep it fresh. And both guys had enough to their characters to make them seem real rather than just complications in her life. I did love t ...more

I can't believe I'm giving a free e-book 5 stars, but this book deserves it! There was drama, suspense, magic, betrayal, mystery and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next! The only thing I didn't like was how scary it was at times since I read before bed. I did have one night of weird dreams lol, but that's a personal issue and nothing that would merit a reduction in stars. If this book is still FREE and you like dark YA then hurry and get this while you can!
