My grandmother used to subscribe to Reminisce Magazine so when I saw this book mentioned by a blogger that I enjoy, I just had to request it from our library. In this book, the reader finds memories of actual Depression Era survivors, pictures, and an introductory letter to each chapter written by the editor for his young granddaughter.
Fantastic collection of first-hand memories combined with amazing Depression-era photos, as usual. The first two chapters were not entirely pleasant reading material for me, as the politics of the time came out more vividly in the subjects of the failing of the banks and the Alphabet Soup government programs; however, I appreciated it nonetheless, because the opinions of the people remained what they were, and are thus valuable to read.
As with all Reminisce books, some stories are sweet, some are eye-opening, and some are laugh-out-loud funny. Nearly all are worth rereading.
