An interesting short story that sees Sergeant Major Bushell, having escaped from a psychiatric ward, running amok in LA and waging war against Mother Nature. This is an action-packed thriller, rich in detail, that leaves the reader wanting more. I would love to see this re-released as a full length novel, with the characters fleshed out more, and the back story revealed to the reader. All in all a good effort and I wouldn't hesitate to read more from this author.
My thanks to the author for a cop

A patient has escaped from a psychiatric hospital. Armed with a flame thrower and chainsaw, he seeks revenge on a target you wouldn't expect....

Mother Nature

When I was asked to read and review this short story I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This was an interesting, well-written, and action packed short story.

Thank you to Elias Zanbaka who provided me with a digital copy of this story in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.

Environmentally Friendly is a short story full of action....and adjectives. Whew!

Sergeant Major Bushnell, an Army Veteran suffering from PTSD, has escaped from a psychiatric hospital and is waging war on Mother Nature. LAPD Sergeant Schaefer attempts to understand him and subdue him. There is a lot of action and the story moves quickly - it's only 19 pages.

I can't really say more because I would be telling the entire story. What I will say is that I think the Author was over zealous w

This is a really interesting short story that packs a lot into a few pages. We are immediately "introduced" to the two main characters in the story and are cleverly kept in the dark as to what is actually occurring. More twists and we begin to comprehend more of what is happening, but there is still a lot that we do not know as readers. Of necessity this moves quickly and we are quickly thrown towards the final action packed pages.
Considering how short this story is, it sure packs a punch.

Thank you to Mr. Zanbaka who provided me a copy of this story in exchange for a review.

This short story was an action packed thriller involving the police and a veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder. It was tight with a good story arc and was full of vivid action. The premise was very unrealistic however and you have to suspend your disbelief a great deal.

This author has some good talent and he should pair up with Mr. James Patters

**The author kindly provided me with a free review copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.**

This incredibly fast-paced story starts out with a bang, right from the get-go, which is something I really appreciate, and it never lets go for one second until the very end. (It actually reads more like a screenplay for an action movie to me.)

Sergeant Major Alan Bushnell, a ten-year decorated veteran of the United States Army, has escaped from a mental health facility and believes he is

I wish to thank the author, Mr. Elias Zanbaka, for a review copy of his short story in exchange for an unbiased review.

Well, what a fun little thriller this one is. A 19-page ball of energy! I went in cold, so it took me a few pages to get oriented as to what the heck was going on, but once the light bulb went on in my head it was full steam ahead. The word that comes to mind when I think back on this read is “colorful” for some reason. I think because the author really brings the characters and

This is a one-go-read that you'd love to read just before going to bed. A refresher with a non-stop action plot is the key ingredient to Environmentally Friendly.

The plot opens up as one specific "target" being hunted down by a police officer of the LAPD who has a mission of his own. This target is a lunatic and sadly one of the famed ex-servicemen.

He has escaped from the asylum where he was being treated and you'd not need a fleet of LAPD cars and horde o

This was a great short story with a really clever plot and twist. I cannot believe what was packed into 19 pages! Exceptionally done with a true start, middle and ending - this would have easily have been able to be stretched into a fab novella.

This is one of those shorts that gives you a little bit more of a taster of what it's really about as you go along until you have one of those great big a-ha! moments. It won't be what you expect. It is non-stop action from the word go and does not let up

This was an entertaining read, which the author was kind enough to provide in return for an honest review.

As another reviewer mentioned, we're dropped into the middle of the action, so it took me a moment to figure out what was going on, but when I oriented myself, I found myself actually enjoying this short story quite a lot. Yes, there are adjectives galore, but when we reached the dialogue-heavy scenes, that's where the author really shone to me. Dialogue is usually - shall we be kind, and sa

29 pages! And not one word is wasted ( a lot of adjectives) in this fast paced story of a veteran with PTSD who wages war against Mother Nature ( in Los Angeles )
A massive ‘twister’ takes the book into a very different direction, fascinating!
Should have been longer but a great idea, well written

Very interesting, well-written, action filled story about a war veteran, Sgt. Major Bushnell, trying to claim revenge on Mother Nature, and a police officer intent on helping him. From the description of the book above you'd think that Bushnell was the main character here, but no, it was the officer - Schaefer. I did sympathize with what he tried to accomplish - helping mentally unstable person to get closure and

Like bungee jumping into chaos, Elias Zanbaka’s Environmentally Friendly is a fast and furious adrenaline high! One man is determined to take down Mother Nature in a blaze of glory in the one city that has already done a historically remarkable job already. Environmentally Friendly by Elias Zanbaka had interesting characters and a fast pace, and I like the idea of the storyline. Having said that, the book was very short with only 23 pages so I couldn't really get an entire picture of what was happening. Good start, nevertheless.

Shaefer helps people fight their enemies, with the assistance of the police a medical team and a one man war. The exercise was masterfully written. It was compelling and intense and only 19 pages long. This was not what I expected when I was asked to review this book. It is a short story, but a short story that packs a wallop. Great unique plot with the intensity that many books never reach. Great Story Elias.

A good little story. I had no expectations going into this book, and did enjoy it. Even though this is a short story there is lot suspense and tension squeezed into the story. Even though it is a short story for me it was a little too short. It did feel like I came in part way thought the story. From 1995 to 2015, a U.N. study claimed a human cost from natural disasters, of 606,000 lives lost and 4.1B injured, left homeless or in need of emergency assistance. Has Mother Nature waged war on humans because of our rampant waste of nature resources, dooming ourselves and ignoring future generations? Apparently, Army Sergeant Major Bushnell thought so. Environmentally Friendly is a fast paced short story that makes quite an impact considering how short it actually is.

The main protagonist is an army veteran suffering from PTSD. He is hell-bent on waging his own personal war against Mother Nature.

When I first started this, I was a little confused by what I was reading as I was thrown head-first into complete and utter mayhem! It took me a couple of pages to get to grips with what was going on. Once I grasped the concept of the story and charact

Mother nature is unleashing her recklessness over humanity. Perhaps in response to man's disregard for the safeguarding of the environment. Environmental Protection is a 19-page whirlwind of a tale of one man's last attempt to put mother nature back in check. And to restore the order.

Wow. Be ready. This gets right to the action, drama, and plot in the first paragraph. How do you handle a highly trained killing machine with PTSD. Right place was in favor for this story. It's never black and white. Responsibly and guilt are the protagonists here. Awesome.

At only 19 pages long, Environmentally Friendly is a short story that is super easy to read in one sitting regardless of your reading pace. And it managed to pack some punch as well.

“Mother Nature, she does what she wants to do. We can’t control it yet.”

What I really liked about this story is that it begins by throwing you directly into the action and doesn’t slow down. As it surges onward amidst the chaos, you begin to slowly learn more details to the backstory and piece together what is really

Environmentally Friendly is a quick, fast-paced, enjoyable read. As the story unfolds, it basically becomes a war between a "target" (the criminal) and one of the police offers in the LAPD. It's beautifully written and kept me on edge throughout - which is interesting as it is only 19 pages. I can't give you more information on the plot than that or else it will ruin the story's twist that I completely didn't pick up on! I was given this short story in exchange for an honest review, thank you Elias. The plot of environmental crisis is in it gratifying, something different from other thrillers, a sergeant “ Real Humanitarian “, and his belief of reforming criminals instead of just incarcerate only and the methods utilized are unorthodox and controversial, even within the police force. This could make a great thriller novel, with the characters background. There’s also the too florid way of description for such a ...more
