I definitely enjoyed this one more than I did Trial By Fire. Still very fast paced but that's to be expected in AC, I guess. Sh*t hits the fan quickly. Galina is still annoying but I'm beginning to understand her! Char is still my fav in this one but I was totally feeling her ancestor Guila!!!! I loved her!

I just love that thiese feature female assassins, especially women of color!!

Also, not sure where the story is going but I'm enjoying these so much I'm going to continue them. Talk about abo

The good:
-The incan story.
-The fact that the animus part wasn't about assassins was good for the plot.
-Great Mexico setting.

The bad:
-Mexican narco cliché.
-The present part was too odd, everything fell into place, the motivations of the characters weren't really clear, they just did what the heck they wanted, usually going bad.
-What the heck with the ending?

I liked the action, that was nicely done, and also the twist at the end. Unfortunately, Charlotte is such an irresponsible, unlikable know-it-all. I actually like Galina, despite all her murdering brutality, better.

Some bits were resolved too quickly and the various groups of villains were a little confusing (I didn't always understand who was who and how they were connected or not).

Overall, it was fine and I'm curious to see how the story ends.

An improvement over the first volume, largely because I liked the historical side of the story better. An Incan character is basically exactly what I've been saying I'd love to see in the actual video games. That said, this volume made me really dislike Charlotte. She's incredibly selfish and short-sighted and, frankly, dumb. Yes, intentionally blowing a surveillance mission does mean she won't "have to" participate in kidnapping and interrogating somebody, though what exactly she thought Assass ...more
