I’ve had this book for as long as I can remember, and it’s always been one of my favorites. Totally not just because we share a name. Honestly, Lulú is super relatable, even if we have a big gap in age. For example:

- she draws, and I doodle on my homework too!

- She likes to go outside and look at bugs, which I will admit, I was a big fan of bugs in fourth grade (a moment for the grasshopper though, for he was never found).

- She role plays as a duck, I role play as a kangaroo when I have a lot of energy.

- She hangs out with her friend, but then leaves him because she has other stuff to do, which I do all the time because I’m always busy as well.

- She also builds with her blocks and knocks them down, I build with erasers and have someone else knock it down for me.

- Lulú also reads before bed, which I often do.

The only thing we don’t have in common, is that she picks up after herself and brushes her teddy bear’s teeth. I could never brush anyone else’s teeth.

Overall, a great book, especially for its target audience. The art is beautiful and has always made me want to live in a world just like it. But I’m left with one question, who’s her friend? Does he make appearances in the other books? I’d really like to know his name because I can never come up with a good one. Thank you!

A firm favourite since 6 months, up til now (11.5 months). Lulu's face is slightly just under life-size (of an infant), and sometimes takes up almost a third of each page. This seems to have gotten our son into believing that Lulu is for real! He consistently lets out a little happy scream every time Lulu's smiling face appears on the starting page.

The colours are truly out of this world. LSD-ish. Great stuff.

Lulu and this time around we learn about the daily activities of our main character (while her heritage is again sidestepped). Drawing, visiting the park with a friend, and building castles is all in a day’s work for Lulu. While the first Lulu book visually suggests that she’s biracial by introducing us to her parents, this book also prefers to visually cue us in on her differences: her brown, puffy hair, dark eyes, and tan complexion. So while she looks a little different compared to many popular storybook characters, she still does all the same things as everyone else. Thus, this would be a good book to share with your child to introduce them to a diverse character—just make sure you point it out to your young reader.

Like most of our little ones, days are filled with so much activity. Lulu's day from begining to end is a light read for out little ones to follow along, with the pop of colors and activities galore.

Lulu is a perfectly normal little girl who goes through activities all small children could relate to. The text is clear, with about a sentence per page, making it well suited to read-alouds and early emergent readers. What would make me inclined to include this in a book box for preschool to primary students is that Lulu is dark skinned with dark hair and dark eyes, with no specified race or blatent racialization of her through culturally stereotypical clothing. Because of this, I think it would be a good way to help provide a multicultural text that doesn't make the character 'other' or 'unusual,' but does accept that little brown faces are a part of the world, too. As a child, I would have found this quite appealing, because most "normal kids" in available books were blatently caucasian.

This book is about a little girl name Lulu who is enjoying her day outside and inside the house. Lulu always kep herself busy by playing on a swing, playing in the rain with her friens, and showering with alot of bubbles. This book is good to teach beginner reader because it has a few words only and it repeat itself.

Good lord, how many books are there out there about kids and their "busy days"? Although this is a bit young for my son, who is four, he picked it out at the library and so I suffered through yet another "busy day" which is actually little more than just an average day for a kid. At least Lulu is a cute name.

Rating based on my three year old nieces reaction to the book.

She sat patiently and listened to the whole book without interruption which is a really good thing. Also, when we were done she immediately said she wanted to read it again. This shows just how amazing she thought the book was.

I can really identify with Lulu and all the things she does in her busy day, like color, swing, eat dinner, and take a bath. I totally dig the cool stuff she finds at the park, like a snail, a flower, and-OMG-a worm!

A cute look at all the things a toddler might do in a day. DS seemed to like it. We'll see if it becomes one that he requests again and again after being read.
