Uff Da!

Rate this book
A new fixer-upper has the entire Bergenborgstrom family in a tizzy. Grampie Gustie, Great Gramma Gerta, Aunties Inga and Olga--it seems everyone but little Timmer has been called in to help. But when the over-crowded house leads to battles over the bathroom and debacles over dumplings, Timmer sees an opportunity to show everyone that he has an important role to play, too.

A family buys a fixer-upper, and everyone converges to help . . . except for one boy who's constantly told he's too small.

Ugh! This book is a chaotic mess of characters shouting at one another. The art, the layout, and the haphazard text only adds to the muddle.

There are some books you don't feel bad at all about removing from the library's catalog, and this is definitely one of them.

Saw this book while skimming the shelves for picture books on healthy eating and had to read a book with the title "Uff Da" as my grandmother and mom are big fans of the exclamation. I kept reading because of the lutefisk and lefse references, but it was a lame story. Little kids can totally help wash dishes, set the table, and other household chores. It's a shame Timmer's family wouldn't let him help.
