The tropical brilliance of the Bahamas is one of the world's most usual and select trading basis – the U.S. Navy school sports undersea "top guns", where the chosen few are rigorously trained and hand picked for the elite submarine command. The legendary officer in charge: Captain Peter MacKenzie, a commander whose reputation awes even the most hardened warriors. Now MacKenzie, with his ace recruits aboard the state-of-the-art U.S.S. Jacksonville, is about to jolt from a high-stakes, competitive exercise to a lethal mission – demanding ultimate teamwork and an all-or-nothing underwater pursuit.
Across the Atlantic, amid the bitter winds of the Ukrainian port and Sevastopol, Russian Navy Captain Pari Avilov is forced to accept a desperate challenge: run the Northern Star, once the high-tech pride of the now-extinct Soviet Union's submarine fleet, under the ocean all the way to Cuba, where an international arms dealer and his Arab clients will accept delivery. Ultimately, only two obstacles will stand between the Northern Star and Cuban waters: MacKenzie and a formidable but unblooded top guns of the Jacksonville, inside the deadly passage called the canyon of the skulls.
Review 25. Peter Mackenzie #3 Atlantic Run by Bart Davis
Page Count : 288
Captain Peter Mackenzie after his successes against the Russian submarines Kirov in book 1 and Akula in book 2 plus his action against the USS Kentucky in book 3, has been promoted to train the next generation of prospective submarine commanding officers.
But trouble is about to find him.
The Russian submarine Northern Star has been sold to Libya and is going to be used to cause trouble for the USA.
Despite all of the other US Navy submarines assigned to hunt the Northern Star on it's Atlantic Run, Mackenzie and his prospective commanding officers are assigned to hunt the sub as well.
The submarine action was in this book again incredible.
The author really has come up with incredible combat sections of this book (something I would love to be able to do).
This is a definitely a book and series that I will reread in the future. I really hope the 5th and final book is as good as the other 4 have been.
Bart Davis is an extremely good author. His story lines are thrilling and characters impeccable. Once you start reading them they are hard to put down. Keep writing Bart Davis you have the talent.
