This is the seventh book in the Haunted Home Renovation series, starring Mel Turner, renovator extraordinaire. Her unique specialties are restoring historic places around the San Francisco area, communicating with ghosts, and solving murder mysteries that frequently pop up on her construction sites.

I greatly enjoyed Mel’s latest project, the restoration of a lighthouse and its keeper’s house in San Francisco Bay. The rich history and romance of lighthouses are fascinating, though tragedy and gri

A lighthouse, murder, and ghosts, oh my! Another fabulous Haunted Home Renovation Mystery!

When I started reading cozy mysteries, I didn’t know there were para-cozies dealing with ghosts, and witches. I love the traditional cozy so much I couldn’t even think about read one with a paranormal element. But then I did, and I loved it, and I have read more like, A GHOSTLY LIGHT. It seems as though I like a cozy with a ghost from time to time. And author Juliet Blackwell helps play a part in that.

As always, there is a very interesting setting, diverse characters, readable history, a murder that kept me guessing, and at least one busy ghost! Book 7 is an excellent addition to the Haunted Home Renovation series!

I really enjoy this series and this one was no exception! Mel has been hired to restore a lighthouse and the lighthouse keeper's home on an island in San Francisco Bay. When the ex-husband of Mel's friend shows up they're braced for trouble...until he ends up dead at the foot of the stairs in the lighthouse. Was he pushed by the island's resident ghost or was the deed done by someone a bit more "corporeal"? RECOMMEND!

The Haunted Home Renovation series is always a great adventure to read. It is such a fascinating story that you won’t be able to put it down. This is the seventh installment and the writing just keeps getting better and better. From the vivid descriptions of the lighthouse, to the murder and investigation, meeting the ghosts and the surprise reveal at the end. Ms Blackwell’s writing is flawless in the way it flows, from the suspense to the mystery. I was enthralled reading all the true history w ...more

I enjoyed the happy twists in this book and found myself sympathizing with a lot of characters. Blackwell has done a great job of keeping things fresh despite this being the 7th book in the series. My only quibble is that I wish we could have had more time with Landon to get to know him before we were presented with this life-changing situation between him and Mel. I like him a lot more than Graham (who I didn't think needed to be around for as long as he was), but I still don't feel like I know ...more

Mel Turner and her friends are back in book 7 of the Haunted Home Renovation Mysteries. Mel and Turner Construction are going to restore a lighthouse, but when a man is killed, and Mel's friend Alicia is blamed she uses her ghost hunting detective skills to get to the bottom of the mystery.

I particularly liked the mystery surrounding the lighthouse ghost and the lighthouse island setting. This portion of the book was well thought out and executed. The present day murder/ghost was not nearly as complex but also enjoyable. At this point in the series, the characters are well developed and feel like old friends. I particularly like Mel's dad and Dog.

I received a copy of this title from the publisher and voluntarily shared my thoughts here.

I enjoyed this story much more than the last one in the series. The lighthouse setting was unique and the story line interesting with characters that had some substance to them. We still did not get a ton of renovation stuff as in earlier books but since the mystery was so good it didn't matter.

A Ghostly Light - Haunted Home Renovation Mystery 7
Reading in chronological order is recommended but not necessary.

In A Nutshell:An imaginative cosy paranormal mystery, which serves up two conundrums. One historical and ghostly, and the other current. Both are enjoyable and rewarding mysteries, so I didn't want to put the book down.

The Plot: Mel is contracted by Alica to renovate a derelict lighthouse on an island. Some locals are upset at 'gentrification' and limitations that will result. Thorn

I have never been to a lighthouse nor have I ever wanted to visit a lighthouse. I am not a fan of being out in the middle of the sea amongst the crashing waves, secluded from society. It has never sounded like something that would be of interest to me. Well, Ms. Blackwell, “A Ghostly Light” has now made me want to make a trip to the nearest lighthouse and go ghost hunting on my next day off. Well done!

★ ★ ★ ★

First, I must say, Juliet Blackwell is one of the few authors of Paranormal Mysteries that I have not wearied of... Her main characters do not bore me, nor are they "innocently" stupid, inane, or trite; so they do they make me angry and I continue to read her books!

Mel Turner is in the business of Historical Home Renovations, she is hired by a client to work an additional job renovating a historical lighthouse...

Cozy Mysteries have a feel and formula all their own, and for me the coziest part is that you always know what you're getting. You know the characters and how they will act, you know the movement of love lines, the inevitability of the dead body, the quirky side characters. It's a kind of comfort food. But just because all of that is true doesn't mean that a cozy is somehow lacking compared to others books. It's hard to argue (and I won't) that these are great works of literature, that they touc ...more

This is one of my favorites in Juliet Blackwell's "Haunted Home Renovation" series. Turner Construction is hired by Mel's friend Alicia to renovate an old lighthouse in San Francisco Bay. Plans to turn the island and its historic buildings into a bed and breakfast have barely begun, when trouble strikes. Alicia's abusive ex-husband is murdered, and Alicia is the prime suspect. To top it off, the island has a couple of interesting resident ghosts - both of whom will need to be dealt with!
