OK, let’s get the title out of the way: No, this isn’t the best pressure-cooker cookbook on the planet. The two best collections of pressure-cooker recipes on the planet would be Great Food Fast : Bob Warden's Ultimate Pressure Cooker Recipes and Bob Warden's Slow Food Fast by Bob Warden, in that order. That said, Debra A. Murray’s cookbook absolutely rates five stars.
I thought The Best Pressure Cooker Recipes on the Planet would be a humdrum affair. How wrong I was! Newbies, of course, will love it, as Murray carefully explains the ins and outs of using a pressure cooker; however, experienced Instant Pot users will find plenty to love, too. I’m the daughter and granddaughter of pressure-cooker owners; they used the feared stovetop pressure cooker, as did I. In other words, I’ve been using a pressure cooker myself for more than 40 years, and I love, love, love this cookbook. Any reader who doesn’t find plenty of recipes to love just isn’t looking.
All this for $1.99! I cannot recommend this book enough!
Good news bad news: The good news is the recipes are interesting, tasty and stupid simple to make. Bad news: the author isn't a trained chef, there is an endorsement by Suzanne Somers (seriously?) and the writing style is very much like the books by Rachael Ray. Breezy, cheery, endless reminders that this or that recipe will thrill your kids, your neighbors, your spouse..blah blah blah.
Each page features an entire recipe, and there are plenty of pictures, so the format is easy to follow and easy to read. This isn't gourmet cooking but it is family friendly and if you dislike the more expensive formal cookbooks, try this one.
I won this book in a giveaway. I had just been given an instant pot by my mother in law. Shortly after I put in for this giveaway and won! It took me a while to actually use the pot as memories of my mother's pressure cooker mishaps stuck with me. Finally, after reading this cookbook, I was intrigued enough to conquer my fear. I've made many of the recipes and will undoubtedly make more as the weather turns cooler and we grill outside less. I found the recipes to be truly fast and easy and my family approved. Win. Win. Win.
This is a great cookbook. I have tried about one-third of the recipes and they've all been good and most have been great. The avgolemono soup is the best I've found. I will happily become a pressure cooker advocate because of some of these recipes.
This book of Pressure Cooker recipes is easy-to-follow, with simple ingredients, large print, great color photos, and quite a variety of snacks, meals, sides, and desserts you can create with just one kitchen appliance. I received this book in a Goodreads Giveaway in exchange for a review.
