Solid winner this one. Great monsters, great pictures, great sounds. Rowan approves.

This is maybe the worst of the BabyLit books that I have. The art is cute. It’s a great little novelty book for an adult. For the age range the book is geared at, I don’t know what is going on. Am I supposed to be reading these quotes to an infant? Explaining the context to a child who hasn’t yet learned the word “dog”?

The disappointing thing with these books is that they could easily have been done better. There could have been a short, simplified sentence on each page to tell the story. Instea

I like quarto pub books but this one was disappointing . I have not read homers odeyssey so this book didn't make any sense at all. I was hoping to introduce the classic to my toddler but this book has no story or even a one liner . Just a bunch of colorful monsters and I am clueless about monsters in general . They did a much better job with wonderful wizard of Oz and I was expecting something on similar lines . The primers are disappointing with no real.vonnection to the classic they are assoc ...more
Reminiscent of the Midsummer Nights Dream primer where you get a picture and a little quote with no attempt to familiarize the reader with the original story, though considering the age of the kids I’m reading it too I don’t mind (and neither do they).

The BabyLit books have the best illustrations and lots of fun language. This one has quotes from the Odyssey, which was great.

One of our first books - love the art and that this series includes actual quotes from the original text.

Amusing for me, sort of hard to relate to Kait, though she had fun talking about the pictures.

I have to admit, as an English major, BabyLit has become my guilty pleasure in the children's section of bookstores (in which I spend a lot more time than I used to since having two little ones). There's a Pride and Prejudice version, and a Jane Eyre one (and many more), and probably the one I most want to get next is Jabberwocky.

However, I can't escape the feeling that I'd be getting these more for myself than for my children (with the exception of Jabberwocky -- that one's so silly already tha
I love the idea of the BabyLit books. However, I'm always left a bit disappointed. They usually don't present any kind of story, just a few pictures from the classic novel they are depicting. Since I teach The Odyssey every year to 8th grade students, I was very excited to get this book for my 7th month old girl. I was somewhat disappointed. There are pictures of about 10 of the "monsters" from The Odyssey (Calypso, Circe, the Cyclops, Scylla, Charybdis, etc.) but no mention of Odysseus himself! ...more

Thank you so much Goodreads First-reads for this giveaway win. I never knew about A Babylit and there are soooo many others books I must buy now. I love the art style in this book, and the fact that it really isn't a "traditional" kids book. I can't wait to give this to my son and look forward to purchasing some more of A Babylit books and toys for him soon. ...more

One of the better classics for kids. The text is more than just a few words, actually tells some of the story.
